Disney Dream - April 3, 2011 - 4 nights

So here's a question for you... will they give you your alcohol or will they store it? I was on a cruise once where they stored all the booze you bought in port until the last night when they brought it to your cabin.

Best part about a DCL cruise...is that you can hand carry on any alcohol that you want!!! :thumbsup2 I am talking beer, wine, liquor, etc... The catch is...if you buy some sort of bottled liquor on-board...they hold that until the end of the cruise...weird - huh? :upsidedow All other cruiselines that I know of do not allow any alcohol to be hand carried on board...they do allow you to bring purchased items from ports on-board...but they too...get kept until the last night of the cruise. :goodvibes

Now for the Mango Rum mixing ideas...anyone??? I just printed off some recipes from drinkmixer.com...we are going to have to be creative...Lot's of recipes call for some sort of juice or two...Here are a few...

Mendololsohn:
3 oz mango rum
2 oz coke
3 oz smirnoff ice triple black (wine cooler)

Liquid Skittles:
6 oz mango rum
12 oz cherry limeade
6 oz gatorade lemon-lime energy drink

Golden Tongue:
2 oz mango rum
2 oz pineapple rum
8 oz orange juice

Anyhow...let's do some research...my crew can bring on some extra items...since we are driving to the area...and some items we can get from the buffet area...or breakfast??? I can see it now...:grouphug:...The DISer's mixing Mango Rum on the top deck! :woohoo:

I really like the idea of going to the Hard Rock Cafe, too.

The DCL site was finally working today and I got the high tea for the ladies in our party. :cool1:

Congrats jk8! :thumbsup2 That DCL is a nightmare at times!

All - I just found these two DISigns in Millipie's photobucket. Wanted to post them...thought that someone might want to personalized one or both of these for their cabin door. You know...the lime green and all!

Lastly - If anyone would like to purchase personalized pillow cases for character autographs...go to ebay and search "cruise pillow case"...one of the entries should be for $10.99...she has 1500 different characters...and will put the child's name and the ship name. For those new folks...you can drop anything off at Guest Services...in a plastic baggie...with sharpie markers or the like...sometimes leave candy...and they will get characters to sign your item and return it to your cabin by the last evening. People do photo mats, pillow cases, hats, books, etc...

Can you tell my brain is turning! Ordered my magnetic paper today off of amazon. Got 5 sheets of Avery for eight something...free shipping...ordered three packs!

Have a great evening!

Last minute trip, or at least it sure seems that way since I booked previous cruises around 15 months in advance. Me and DD, who will turn 16 at the end of this month.

We are driving from Michigan (looks like there are a few fellow Michiganders on this cruise :thumbsup2) on April 1-2. Flight costs are :scared1:, but we are also driving so DS (18) can have the car in Orlando for his spring break trip with his friends and their parents at a time share.

Staying at the Hilton at DTD on 4/2, taking Happy Limo to the port Sunday morning.

Not really making any plans. Excited to see the Dream! The pictures and videos are amaaaazing! Initially didn't plan to even get off the ship in Nassau, but a friend of mine will be there with her family on the same day (they are on Allure of the Seas...kinda feel sorry for them since they're not on the Dream...lol). Hard Rock sounds fun!

Hi All!!

I hope those of you who got the flu are starting to get better and get your energy back! I hate how the flu sucks your energy away for long after the fever is gone! It was snowing here on the 26th and then it was 76 degrees on the 1st! I have been giving my group vitamins and OJ to ward off colds....

So glad to hear the Christmas surprises went off nicely. I must admit that I wish I was able to keep a Disney secret like that to surprise my family -- that would last 5 minutes with me :rotfl:

I am looking forward to our 10:30 'Party bus' ride to the port!! I will be working 12 hour days up to the week we leave for the cruise working on a big project - so I will be the blonde sitting in a seat in a trance :goodvibes

Crystal - you've got my vote for these (we are driving as well and can bring stuff - I will have my resort Mickey mug to mix my mango in ;)):

Looks like the Radisson is filling up. The lowest price I got when I searched was $172 now. I think between the cruises and the possible Shuttle launch it is going to be packed!

Also I heard the parking fee is now $20:scared1: a night, so the room pays for itself for us since we're doing the B2B

I think we have decided not to do WDW the days before. I crunched the numbers and the cost to get 3 2 day passes and a hotel is the same as coming back later in the year for 4 days with the kids are free promo, so we may do a fun surprise visit later in the year:banana:

We are still all sick. DS7 has been out of school all week with flu. Dr didn't want him to go back in until he had no fever for 24 hours and today is his first fever free day, so he gets the whole week off.

In laws FINALLY left yesterday, then I had to clean up the whole house. With me out of commission no one took on the housekeeping role and am a week behind:laundy:

I love those dis ears :thumbsup2 Do you have a bigger version that I can use to try to add my screenname to?

Speaking of those, I was going to make a magnet of our deck 7 graphic but I think I am just linking to someone else's photobucket account (and it appears to be a thumbnail size). Does anyone have the bigger version of that one too, that I can use to make a magnet with?

Welcome to the cruise!!!! We are using Happy Limo to get from the airport to our hotel on Saturday evening. That is the one secret that I am still keeping from the kids. I asked them to put just the kid's names on the sign when they pick us up :thumbsup2

We have been doing the vitamins here too (mostly due to our cruise in two weeks though). Oh, I'm going to be at Disneyland tomorrow. I think I will check out the mugs there and see if there is anything we might want to use on the cruises. We have some but they are not Disney...

Oh no...I hope you are all feeling better soon!! My kids were so mad at me but I made them go to the doctors for flu shots last week. I almost forgot about it but luckily the doctor's office still had some available for the season.
Try and take it easy and just worry about the necessities of the laundry. The rest can wait until you are feeling better!!

I just bought some magnetic paper today at Hobby Lobby ($4 for 3 sheets) and I can't wait to start making magnets!

We are also going to try and make our Fish Extender. I will let you guys know how it goes.

Happy Weekend!

Recently DH expressed interest in going snorkeling. I really don't want to waste time on Castaway doing a snorkle trip so we are thinking of doing it in Nassau instead. There goes our original idea of staying on the ship and my Mango Rum Run. We are debating on which one to take, Caribbean Queen or Catamaran Snorkel. Any Suggestions? :confused3 Another issue is that we were not planning on getting passports because we were not planning on getting off ship in Nassau. Do you think this will be an issue? I know they say we do not need them but hate to have a problem.

:thumbsup2 Anyway once we book our excursion on Jan 18th I will let you know and hopefully I still can make the Mango Rum Run Too, also not oppossed to Hard Rock Stop too.

Getting Excited!

Personally I would get passports. You never know when you need them, and it really is something every American should have if they plan to travel. Castaway Cay is foreign soil, even though it is owned by Disney it is an island of the Bahamas, plus coming back through immigration at the port will be easier with a passport in hand. I would contact Disney or your TA, you may actually need one if you plan on getting off the ship at all.

Found this:
By Sea
# U.S. citizens need either a passport book or passport card. The passport book is good for air, land or sea travel. Passport books cannot be used for international air travel. But passport cards can be used to enter the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda at land border crossings or ports of entry.
However, U.S. citizens do not need a passport book or passport card for cruises that depart and return at the same U.S. port. All that is required is proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate, in addition to a government-issued photo identification.

We travel with passports and take them with us into each port. This is in case anyone needs to leave that port area by plane - emergency... The folks we have traveled with never have had passports...only birth certificates. This is allowed, however; getting off an island by plane with a US birth certificate may not be allowed...again for emergencies. If you do a DCL sponsored excursion...you should be fine without the passport. I could go either way...to have the passport or not to have it...:upsidedow

As far as the snorkel excursions...we have no experience with this...maybe someone else has info??? I am keeping posts regarding the Mango Rum Run...and we can figure out the best time for this once we get a few more opinions... As far as the Hard Rock...I found their website and printed out the directions from the port. It's an easy walk...and we may just find our rum store along the way! I attempted to find the liquor stores...but was not successful yet...will keep trying...anyone with thoughts???

I would like to get involved in FE. I understand there was an email distributed. Any chance I could receive?

Also, just wondering if there is anyone else traveling from Massachusetts on the April 3 Dream with children around the age 4 or 5.

Thank you.

Patty
