Disney Dream - April 3, 2011 - 4 nights

OMG we have ANOTHER snow day tomorrow! The roads here are still pretty icy, so we may be out all week, and with Monday being a holiday it is going to be a LONG weekend! I an so stir crazy it is unbelievable!

I have been stalking the boards :surfweb: and am a bit worried about the pools, and I am also a bit worried about the menus, I am a PICKY eater and I think I may end up driving our server crazy! :rotfl:

Hey - you guys might as well go for a week off! :thumbsup2 I do know that some states allow the schools to not make up the days once they have reached so many snow days. Just a thought...I always hated make-up days when I was a teacher!

Saw that you also posted on the pool thread...I am hoping that the pictures are distorted or something...To be honest...the pools on the Magic and the Wonder are horrible! At least the mickey pool is kind of like a kiddie pool. The goofy pool is simply a rectangular hole in the deck...it is small...it gets gross throughout the day...it is just too small. Now with the pics. of the Dream pool...especially the donald pool...it does look more like an oval with a zero depth entry...that's an improvement. I am just hoping that it is bigger than the existing pool...which the pictures don't make it look that big. Anyhow...I am not telling my kids...I may have to book Atlantis to make up for the inadequate pool areas???

I haven't look through the menus yet...they are always interesting...if all else fails...I order off of the kid's menu! I am a pretty basic eater...so some of the fancy stuff doesn't appeal to me...Now my husband and oldest son...they love the fancy stuff!

Happy Snow Day Again!

I am worried about the 25 person limit, I mean really will they have someone couting people and then allowing someone in once someone else gets out, like some trendy club?

I am kind of worried about the pool area also. We have always been able to handle the ones on the Magic and Wonder, but with 1600 more people on the Dream.... :confused3
I guess I will just have to reserve judgment until we go. The ship does look beautiful. I am so worried I am going to be disappointed. Hopefully not.
We are buried in snow here. No, they really never cancel school. We are all so used to driving on the stuff. It is definately a winter wonderland. Kayley and Kyley have been doing a lot of downhill skiing and some basketball. The hills have been in great condition. I have been just dreaming of sun and Disney. Hope all is well. The cruise is coming sooner that we think.....

I am really frustrated with my TA today. We called to ask about something and he spoke to my husband about some benefits, etc.

Well my husband wrote a bunch of stuff down and I glanced at it just now and I am livid! We got cleared for the early dining a while ago, but apparently sometime between when we booked and now we got booted from the 5pm show and are now on the 9pm show! That is WAY too late for a 2 year old and I don't understand how we got moved in the first place.

I am thinking next time we may go through DU.

Wow...sorry you guys are getting hit so hard with the snow. I think my kids would love a snow day (heck, they would just like it to snow, LOL).

I have been stalking the boards a lot too and the pool stuff is "interesting." I have to admit, we are lucky that my Mom has a pool so I think my kids will be fine if they don't get much pool time in. I am more worried about the Aquaduck waits ;)

I have also been watching the Wonders progress on its way over here :cool1: I can't believe that a week from tomorrow I will actually get to set foot on a Disney Cruise ship for the first time. I was telling the kids last night that they will get to stay up as long as they want because our time on the ship will be so short, I want them to enjoy it as much as possible (we can sleep later, LOL).
But I did see where they had to miss Castaway Cay because of high winds. I guess it is a good thing that we are doing B2B on our Dream cruise because that gives us 3 chances to get there (regular day, sea day if they need to switch and then again on the second cruise). That is one thing I really want to experience in April.

I'm a picky eater too but I am going to try stuff that I normally wouldn't. I figure I can always go get a slice of pizza later if I don't like it. :thumbsup2 I think it will be a great time to try new things without worrying about wasting the money on something I don't like.

:cheer2: Happy Friday!!! :cheer2:

I wish it was like this here...:beach:...

:) EcbLovesMickey - Did you ever get your showtime moved back to 5PM? I sure hope so... We have used both Small World Vacations and Dreams Unlimited for DCL and WDW vacations. Love both of them!

:) disneytraceyl - My kids would love to be able to ski! They have been begging us to take them. My husband and I are warm-weather people...so the cold and skiing is usually not on our destination routes. Anyhow...we have ski slopes only 3 hours away...I guess we will have to try it sometime! I'll watch! :rolleyes1

:) jetskigrl - Are you guys getting excited? :yay: I bet so! I am going to try and pull up some tips that someone once posted on our cruise thread back in 2009. We were on a 3 nighter...and her tips really helped us to maximize our cruise...I'll go looking...

:) Pools - OK...so I let me husband see the photos...He was way more positive than I thought that he would be. He also made mention how we have done the pools on the Wonder and Magic in the past...and that that theory/way could still work. BTW...I know I keep talking about the pools...seems kind of stupid...we do have one in our backyard...however...wherever we travel to...my kids just want to go swimming! I don't get it...you know...go into Magic Kingdom...or swim at the resort??? We love the water...so I guess my kids really enjoy it too! :upsidedow

I hope that everyone has a great day!

Still no word on them moving it back, I contacted DCL directly but haven't heard back from them. I have no idea why they would do this, but he says it happens a lot and their customer service is not as good as other facets of Disney :confused3 I am sure we'll work it out.

We use AAA just because I like our TA, but as for benefits we get weird stuff, we get an extra $45 OBC, free floats at CC, a fruit basket at departure  and a "treat" at the end of the cruise:confused3 I think I would rather have the $200 OBC from DU:rotfl:

Ok...I need a detox from these boards...or from magnet making...or something! :headache: I just took some photos of my garage door with all of my magnets on it for you all to see just how wacky I have become...AND THEN...I go on a few of the DISigns threads and order a few more DISigns!!! Have you all seen the most incredible DISigns that Jordak is making??? He just posted one with the sunset and Mickey and Minnie sitting in the chairs watching it...It is absolutely beautiful! :littleangel: Anyhow...here's my latest obsession...we will not put all of these on the door at one time...(That would be really telling of my problems!) Anyhow...here goes...

ENTIRE DOOR:

BOTTOM:

It's interesting...as the years have gone on...the smaller I print the images. I guess I can get more on the door that way! :upsidedow

BIG TIP: Using a sharpie write "Stolen from 8113 (Your cabin number)" on the back of each magnet...for some reason...this helps for the magnets to stay on the door...and to help the magnets return if they happen to go missing. Some of my magnets are going on their third cabin number...kind of funny! :rolleyes1

Last Bit of Info...I was unable to locate the 3 day cruise tips for jetskigrl. I searched my account here on the boards...by they do not go that far back...and they have archived the 2009 threads...and I guess that I did not save them to my computer...so no luck. If I have time over the weekend I will try to write some. I did find a great "At-Home" tip list...that you can do with your family before and after cruising. I will post that this weekend...if I can get off of this magnet thing!!!

Happy Weekend!

OMG Crystal--that is quite the collection of magets! Yup, I can see how that can turn into an obsession. Maybe it's good that I don't know how to make magnets yet! Oh who am I kidding--my door is going to be as blinged out as the the rest of the dissers! :rotfl2:

Jetskigirl--good luck with your final plans getting ready for your cruise this week. I am soooo jealous! Make sure you report back on everything you didn't need/should have taken to make life easier. You are going to have so much fun!

ECBlovesmickey--hope you're holding up to all the confinement. I can't imagine following up being sick with being snowbound. At least you got rid of the in-laws before they were stuck with you! :thumbsup2

Now to our weekend plans--are you ready...we are having our own little mini-dismeet this weekend! :cool1: Cindy (kikids), Dawn (Dontrushme), & I are getting together! Dawn & I are staying at the same hotel tonight & Cindy is going to meet us on Sunday. So excited to see someone face-to-face! I think the funniest thing is going to see how our dh's handle having us go off into our own little world of distalk! :lmao:

Everyone have a great weekend!

party: Have Fun Kathryn, Cindy and Dawn! party:

I think that it is great that you all are getting together! This proves that we do have a great group of DISers for our cruise! :thumbsup2

I hope that everyone is having a great weekend!

:thumbsup2Kathryn & Cindy
It was great meeting you and your families!
Can't wait to meet the rest of you great disers!:3dglasses:disrocks:

I was wondering, for those who have cruised before, what did you do about seating for dinner? I don't mind sitting with other people, but I am worried about getting stuck with like a childless couple who are not happy to be sitting with a 7 & 2 year old.

Our seating has always just been with our traveling party...so no experience with this one. Twice we had a table for just the four of us. The other two times we had a table for eight...which was the size of our party. From what I have heard...if you are seated with folks that aren't good table mates...go to your head server and ask to be changed...

So nice meeting with Dawn & Cindy this weekend--thanks for taking the time to visit! :flower3: It will be nice to pick out a few familiar faces in the crowd!

It's going to be fun watching all the broadcasts from the Dream over the next couple of weeks to get some sneak peeks--looks like GMA will be first up with the live reports starting tomorrow. Can't wait to get some for feedback once the ship is 100% operational. Hoping we hear a lot of positive things & they learn how to manage all the extra people!

Kathryn

Well still no luck changing our show time back. I would recommend everyone check their dining/show times since it seems Disney is randomly changing them without reason. We did not ask to move our showtime, but they did and now refuse to change it back. I am so frustrated with DCL customer service.:headache:

Sorry you got bummped! I would keep checking, maybe you will get lucky! Where can I confirm our dinner time? I was searching around all morning? :thanks:

Go to the Disney Cruise site...under My Reservations...There will be a line stating "Only 74 days..." Under that click on "View Details"... In that section under Vacation Information you should find your dining seating and show time. I thought that I had to go through my TA...but I just did this...and found my info. We are still Main Dining with the 9PM show...

OK found it, but I can't not get into it. Site keeps giving me an error. :confused3 Maybe they are trying to tell me I should not be playing around while at work, I should do from home! :)

I did get snorkel excursion booked though! :thumbsup2 Only one option 1:45. We were hoping for early morning, but afternoon might work. Eat breafast, stand in LONG LINE for Aquaduct:scared1: eat lunch , then go snorkeling! Back in time for dinner. Perfect!! :thumbsup2

I might have to forego Mango Rum Run! I will see what time you all decide!

Well we were able to do our bookings today and Palo is booked solid, not a single table for 2 for any meal all cruise! Hopefully we'll get in on our second part of the B2B.

Also booked the CC Sting Ray excursion because DS has been mesmerized with it and begged to do it. It's not too expensive so we said ok, luckily it had some time slots open.:yay:

I totally forgot to check last night for Palo (I heard it opens up at midnight so that would have been 9:00 pm here). Then of course when I checked this morning, it was booked. I'm going to try when we get on board or maybe for second cruise too.

What time did you book the Sting Ray excursion for? I'm thinking the kids might like that too and saw there were still openings.

The one we really want is the Dolphin Encounter at Nassau and we are going to try and book that for our second cruise of the B2B. The bookings for that open up on Saturday (when we are on the Wonder, of course, LOL) but my TA is going to try and get it for us :thumbsup2

I would have her try for Palo for that one too...I just don't know when we would want to go yet (since there is no Day at Sea on the 3-night and I wanted to try the Brunch).
