Disney Dream - April 3, 2011 - 4 nights

Everyone...I just thought that I would re-quote Cindy's posting about the FE exchange.

To Patty (gavin'smom)...Welcome to the April 3rd sailing of the Disney Dream! And welcome to the DISboards! :cheer2: Hopefully Cindy will be on here soon...and she can PM (Private Message) you the FE information...or you can wait and PM Cindy when you have (I believe) 10 postings. No worries, though...we will get you signed up! Please ask if you have any questions...we have some veteran cruisers and some new cruisers... Lastly...I want to add your crew to the first posting for our list of DISers who are cruising...so...when you get a chance...just tell us who will be in your cabin...see the first posting to see how folks give info...no names needed unless you want too...

Again, welcome aboard! pirate:

Fish Extender Sign-up Time!

It's time to begin the list of fish extender participants for the April 3rd Dream Cruise!

Details: Please send email thru DisBoards with your personal home email address, cabin #, first names of grown ups and first names and ages of children participating (Also if you have a child with a gender neutral name, please indicate DD or DS). If you have questions about how fish extenders work, ask here on the boards. Because this is such a big ship, we may split the list/divide the boat but we'll worry about that later. Regardless, everyone will get a master list. I will compile the list and email it to your personal email in excel format once per month and then a final list about three weeks before sail date. The last day to sign up will be March 3rd, 2011. Questions? Just ask.

Fine print: This will also be a good way for kids to get to know each other before the trip...perhaps email each other and make some friends. However, I understand some of you out there haven't broken the wonderful news to your families yet. If this is the case and it's still a surprise, either wait to join the FE list or make sure you tell me in your email that you are not ready to receive personal emails about the trip and I won't include you in the mailings until you let me know.

Have a great weekend!
Cindy

Recently DH expressed interest in going snorkeling. I really don't want to waste time on Castaway doing a snorkle trip so we are thinking of doing it in Nassau instead. There goes our original idea of staying on the ship and my Mango Rum Run. We are debating on which one to take, Caribbean Queen or Catamaran Snorkel. Any Suggestions? :confused3 Another issue is that we were not planning on getting passports because we were not planning on getting off ship in Nassau. Do you think this will be an issue? I know they say we do not need them but hate to have a problem.

:thumbsup2 Anyway once we book our excursion on Jan 18th I will let you know and hopefully I still can make the Mango Rum Run Too, also not oppossed to Hard Rock Stop too.

Getting Excited!

Hey Dawn, we did the Caribbean Queen Snorkel Tour on our last cruise. I posted a review and pics if you'd like to check it out.

Cindy,
:)Thanks for the snorkel review! I think we are going to try it. I am hoping to get an earlier morning time so I can still make the Mano Rum Run.

Crystal and ECBlovesMickey,
:)Yes I think we will get the passport cards. We printed up the application last night and completed them and then spent the rest of the night looking for my original birth cert. :confused3 Don't know where it could be, glad we started looking now!

:cool2:Once we get our passportsd cards we are thinking a quick trip to Windsor to the casino might make a nice get a way and a reason to test out the cards.

 I am having trouble trying to make my t-shirts, I can't get the picture to transpose so I can print it out on the iron on transfer paper. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Dawn...What kind of transfer paper are you using the clear kind or the white kind? I don't remember having to transpose the image onto the white iron on transfer paper. I do remember having to transpose an image onto the vinyl cling paper...On my computer to transpose something...I go to print...and then properties...and then advanced...and then click the "Mirror Image" on...and it reverses the image. Let me know how you're doing...:goodvibes

Glad to hear about the passports! Have you found your b-certificate yet???

To EcbLovesMickey...are you all in the path of the ice/snow storm? Just checking...We might see some of it here on Monday night into Tuesday...it just all depends on the route...if it goes out to sea or stays along the coast...we are right on the eastern seaboard of VA...so snow is usually hit or miss...

Happy Sunday to All!

Yes we are all hunkered down waiting for it to start tonight:scared1: I am not worried about the snow so much as the ice. We don't have road sating machines here, so if the roads get icy there is nothing to do but wait until it melts or risk life and limb driving on them.

I had to run out and refill a prescription today at the store and it was a MADHOUSE! Reminded me of Florida before a hurricane. Shelves were bare and lines were long. Luckily I am well stocked and all I needed was my prescription, otherwise I think the checkout lines alone would have taken 30 minutes!

i hope everyone stays safe and warm during this period of bad weather we're having!

After reading countless pages about FE, I think I finally have a few good ideas. Infact, I started working on one idea yesterday and it turned out pretty cute!

Here's another question: The tea that I've seen posts about, is it only for adults? Would I look odd having tea by myself? How much does it cost? I love having high tea & really don't want to miss an opportunity for the chance to eat scones and cream.

Thanks,
Carla:hippie:

Carla, when I booked mine the only had seating left for 3-4 people. Perhaps you can a few other DISers to join you. It is for adults only and the surcharge is $10.

 Mirror Image! Got it. I'll have to wait until next weekend to work on them again, we got sidetracked looking for Birth Certificates! Still nothing! :headache: Good thing though all the old tax stuff has been shreaded and all the files are in order for this years taxes!

Carla - Glad to hear that your first FE idea came out great! It's so neat to see what everyone comes up with! :goodvibes

EcbLovesMickey - How are you all doing? :confused3 Hopefully you still have power...that's the worst when the power goes... The storm is supposed to come by here tonight...it is still unpredicted what will happen here...

Dawn - Well at least a positive came out of all the looking for the b-certificate...shredding old documents is a pain...and new and cleaned out files feels really good! :yay:

Everyone - I just heard that the shuttle launch has been pushed to April 1st. That means that the hotels in Cocoa Beach will be crazy and the prices soar. Maybe the launch will be postponed a day or two??? You never know...my husband works for NASA...in the exact department that oversees launch or don't launch...and we have never seen a shuttle launch...it would be awesome! :cool1:

Happy Monday to All!

Well we got about 8 inches of snow last night, which to some of you may not seem like much, but here in GA it has shut down the whole state. All the schools are closed and the roads are not drivable. Tonight it's supposed to drop below freezing and it will be a mess!

I hope everyone is staying safe and warm. I started making our Fish Extender and so far so good! I'll post pictures when I am done

don't Rush Me: We did the catamaran snorkeling excursion last April. It was great! I loved the boat ride on the catamaran, we sat on the netting up front and it was just awesome. It was really rough seas that day and we almost didn't get to snorkel, the captain tried 3 times to find us a calm area that we could snorkel in...third times a charm and had a great time. I would recommend it to anyone. I would do it again except my DD doesn't like fish and the catamaran ride scared her do to the rough/rolling waters. I'd go with the morning excursion. We were back in time to catch lunch at the buffet, still shopped at the straw market, and no rush to get ready for evening activities.

Wendy

Well no school again tomorrow, we still have 6 inches or more on the ground and now it's raining and freezing on top of the snow so we have a big ice rink in the front yard!

I have been spending the time working on my magnets and my Fish extender. I ordered more ink for my printer and some ribbon to finish up my FE. DS and I started trying to make our FE gifts, but they aren't turning out exactly how I want them. :(

Between the flu and this snow I am getting some major CABIN FEVER:hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper:

I am so ready for things to get back to normal!

BTW, looking at the FE list I think we have at least one person with a GTY stateroom. Just curious, did you get assigned one yet and was it a better category?

Also, was anyone on the concierge level? There is some discussion that the concierge level may be key-card accessible only, which might put a cramp in FE plans

:cool1:Birth Certificates found, passport photos taken, application for passports sent in!
Check Check Check!

:laughing:Ok so they have been in DH's car with the maps since we went to Niagara Falls in 2007. Guess we don't use them very much, can't believe we even thought to look there.

:confused3Next plan is to decide which snorkel tour to do. Thanks for giving me your input but now I have good reviews for both and still don't know which to choose. Is there any way to see the times of the excursions before you register for them? That might helps us make a decision. I am hoping to get in right away as soon as I am able to register, I hear they fill up fast.:thanks:

pirate: EcbLovesMickey...Any school yet? Or are you all still climbing out of the snow? I know how that cabin feeling gets...yuck! I can't wait for warmer weather! :cool2:

pirate: Dawn...:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:...on finding those b-certificates! As far as booking excursions...I have no idea...we have never booked an excursion with DCL...

pirate: To Everyone...the Weight Loss board is now running again! So if you would like to pop over there and get started...or get re-started...we'd love to hear from you!

pirate: :yay: :yay: :yay: I'm so excited...I just figured out my next FE thing!!! It's crafty...but not with me doing it! Gotta love those kind of things!

pirate: Oh, and we just paid our balance! :thumbsup2 It's kind of bitter-sweet, though...my crew is totally not into the DCL ship...even though it is new. And I am really not going to tell them that people are stating that the new swimming pools are still not big enough for everyone and that they are limiting swimmers to 25 in one of the pools...they would freak out! I must have totally spoiled rotten children...to think that a cruise is going to stink...even before boarding the ship...geesh! :upsidedow I almost took everyone's name off of the reservation except for mine...maybe a cruise by myself would help to cure their spoilish behavior. Who knows...it's paid for now...they will be cruising. I might leave them in the cabin...but they are cruising! :rolleyes1 This also might be the make or break deal when it comes to cruising with DCL...my kids so love RCI...that this cruise is going to have to rock...somehow???

pirate: Sorry for the rant...Can I get some of that Mango Rum now???

princess: Crystal

Yep, we're still snow bound. I am guessing we will start school back tomorrow as long as it keeps melting.

OMG I saw the stuff about the pools, what the heck was Disney thinking, making SMALLER pools on a LARGER ship?!?!?! I get that they added the teen water play area and the Nemo one for little ones, but the pools are a prime location on board... that really has me worried, 25 people at a time is not a lot, especially on the at-sea day. I guess they are hoping we willall be in line for the Aqua duck and not be in the pools

Hi All! Sounds like everyone is getting rolling on their FE! I'm torn wanting to participating but afraid that with my work schedule before the cruise that I will pull my hair out getting it all done :sad2: My family has so loved them our past 2 cruises.....

We finally went back to school today, it was a 2 hour delayed start - it was still icy in front of my daughters school and there were a few cars slip sliding. I'm getting tired of some of my Facebook friends who have moved here from far up north and they are going on and on about how we are wimps and stupid in the south because this little storm closed everything for the week -- It is taking everything I have not to put out there - it's not about intelligence, but it is about not having the equipment to clear the roads. Can I admit to you all that I half way wanted to see the one who has the most comments to say in a small ditch this morning - nothing bad where it damaged the car or hurt her - just enough to leave a mark in her pants if you know what I mean :upsidedow I think being shut in the house for 4 days has gotten to me - I am not the type who can go this many days without sunshine :cool2:

Crystal - I have been there!!! Imagine the money we could save (and use on the mango rum) if we ditched the family and went alone :rotfl: My DH and DD can be unappreciative snots as well. They got a little taste of it last November when we went to WDW with friends - they did not accomplish a 1/4 of what we did and they were stressed out the whole time - standing in lines and trying to rush to get things done. With the 'DISboard' plan - your trips just are not as relaxing - I tried to give them suttle advice - but they did not listen. DD and DH got more appreciative of their 'Disney Mom' mid way through the trip watching that family

Hope everyone else is staying warm and those with snow - hope it melts quickly!! They are already saying something about another winter storm in a few weeks - I hope not. My friends in Atlanta are still out of school tomorrow - they'll be making that up somewhere I would assume :scared1:

Cheers to all --- the picutres of the Dream are really getting me excited about our cruise (trying to not let the pool pics scare me - but it's hard not to!!)

WDWCrazyfromGA - Somehow you have got to find a way to do the FE...your little girl is so adorable....:cutie:...and I can't imagine her not getting items in your FE or being able to distribute FE stuff. Is there anything that I can help with? :confused3 I promise...I won't tell what you're doing! But I can always pick things up...make labels...organize stuff...just let me know. Even if you get all the stuff...I can help you organize it on-board. :thumbsup2 Maybe have labels or bags ready to go or stuff... Please...just let me know what I can do to help. I really don't mind...and kind of like doing things like this...:goodvibes PM me with your thoughts...I was getting ready to give you suggestions...but will keep that for later...and for a secret!!!

Again...just let me know...oh...and if you find the time to do this...it won't hurt my feelings!

OMG we have ANOTHER snow day tomorrow! The roads here are still pretty icy, so we may be out all week, and with Monday being a holiday it is going to be a LONG weekend! I an so stir crazy it is unbelievable!

I have been stalking the boards :surfweb: and am a bit worried about the pools, and I am also a bit worried about the menus, I am a PICKY eater and I think I may end up driving our server crazy! :rotfl:
