Disney Dream April 19, 2012 - 3 Nights

Hi All!

Starting to get very excited...or who am I kidding, I have been super excited since we booked! Anyways- can anyone tell me if there is a formal night on the 3 day cruise?

Have read two different things! Thanks for the help! Missy
The last 3 day cruise I was on the last night was "formal" my DH and I got dressed up and ended up sitting next to people in jeans at dinner. Now we just dress up for Palo and stick with cruise casual for the rest of the nights.

I've also read online that there is no designated formal night on a 3-night cruise, but I'll be dressing up for Palo as well. DH really wants to wear his tux but I think he'll be way over dressed for regular dining.

Does anyone know if guys happen to wear tuxes in Palo, even if it's just the 3-night cruise?

:welcome: tinafish! :welcome:

Now we have a wedding, a birthday, and an anniversary!:wizard:

mdurette- you got your cabin assignment! That means docs soon.....do they still send out docs??? Or is it all online now? I thought I still got them last trip!

I thought about passports.Especially the travel-card like passport since it was cheaper, but I read they are only good for travel back into the US by land-Canada or Mexico and do not work from the Caribbean. Maybe they changed that?

I found this post that has scans of the Navigators for a 3 day cruise on the Dream from 02/2011. Don't think they will have changed much. The 3rd night is Dress Up optional.

If my hubby had a tux he would wear it to Palo! Part of the fun is getting dressed up and going somewhere nice. We booked Palo on the 3rd night because we didn't want to miss the Pirate Party on night 2 and we figured there might be some other guests dressed up on the 3rd night.

I'm not allowed to post a link since I have less than 10 posts. So hopefully if you copy and paste the link in your browser it will work. Oh you'll have to add www to the front too.

teach your DH wants to wear a tux? Wow! Normally that's a battle! He definately should wear it to Palo. Men look so great in them

Here's tinafish's link to the navigators.

I wonder what movies are gonna be showing on the ship? I missed Toy Story 3 in 3D 'cause it was shown on the first day and then never again. I hadn't had a chance to look at the movie list and just assumed it would repeat.

They used to have non-Disney in theater movies on the ship. My oldest and I really enjoyed that! Now we are in to doing our own thing at the end of the day. He-with the teenage kids and me-in the District. I love Pink! I've gotten into the habit of having a glass of champagne there every night to wind down the night. I really like Meridian too with their light up menus, but unless you're early it fills up fast as it's so small! (...and it's intimidating to walk into alone.)

Yes, when you logon to your DCL account for the cruise, it has the "Itinerary" or schedule for our cruise (it's the webpage where there's a link to book excursions/spa/nursery). The Castaway Cay Day says "Dress Up Optional". The Nassau Day is Pirate Night.

Our family likes to dress up. We have pirate costumes and we plan to wear our nice clothes on the other nights. We have 2nd seating dining.

Tho DH doesn't have a tux, he'll wear one of his nicer suits. DS8 and DS7 also have their own suits (they wore at their school recital, Thanksgiving party and Christmas dinner). I won't wear a ball gown since I don't have one, but I have some nice dresses that I've used when we watched ballet in San Francisco or at the office Holiday Party or go out to dinner in a nice restaurant. If I have a ball gown, I'll wear it ;) My DD16months has a Belle ballgown she'll wear - but she's not staying for dinner, just for the pictures. She'll be at the Nursery while we have dinner. Not sure if she can sit through a show and be reasonably quiet, she sometimes sings when she hears music

DH and I love to dress up, I think DH likes it more than I do! He was very happy to hear that he'd be able to wear his tux on the cruise. Now he wants a top hat! I told him to chill out, no top hats allowed (my rules!)

:yay: Oooh, am so excited about the FE. I started hoarding some stuff as potential gifts...I think at least one bag will just contain the gifts and some give-aways to CMs. It's so nice for families who live in Florida, no luggage checkin to worry about at the airport.

:happytv: I was also surprised to learn there's actually a movie theater in the ship and that 3d movies may also be shown! Now I don't know how I'd fit that into our schedule, first cruise, only 3 days...I guess, we'll just see the movie if it's new - at least, we'll pop-in and sit on the chairs even if we don't finish the movie.

:cool1: Am looking forward to some dancing with DH(hope it's not just us in there though), and having an after dinner drink in one of the adult clubs. 3 consecutive date nights :woohoo: It's funny when I think of us having a date and his mom (MIL) just somewhere closeby, he he he.

We opted to get passports for the kids. We did the style that looks more like a license that will work in places like the Caribbean, but not Europe, etc. Plus they are cheaper than a traditional passport.

Thanks so very much for the info. I was not aware that there were two types of passports. We had settled on using the kids birth certificates and school id's however this sounds like it may be a bit easier - less items to keep track of in the airport with two kids.

48 days till we head to Orlando!!!! Can't wait. I think I am more excited than the kids to pull the links off the chain each day!!!

Where do you find this? In the "my reservation" section on the Disney Cruise site? Mine still says 9A GTY. What cat was yours? Did you get an upgrade? This is so exciting!!

Yes, under my reservation it has an assigned room now. I was 6A. No upgrade was given (didn't really expect one).

DU also sent me an email today to let me know my room assignment, my wait list for first seating was met and that Disney lowered the cost of the cruise so I should see a credit on my statement. (less than $20). One of the percs booking with DU that they automatically watch this I guess!

I just got my GTY room assignment today. I booked a cat 9A and got an 8B room!!! Super excited!!!!!

Again, I've never done a FE before so I'm not sure exactly how it works but I was wondering when we would be able to trade information? I know it would be subject to change if more people were added but I was going to start making some personalized gifts and need to know names and stuff. Sorry, I'm a little excited to get started!

Good point on the FE question Tina. I need to figure out the ages and genders of the kids. I was just looking over the FE list Sue posted. Guess we also need to include room numbers. I'll probably end up making a spreadsheet (b/c I'm a linear person and need lots of organization!) Speaking of, Sue I picked up a file thingamajig the other day! Going to get to work on organizing my tabs and start printing out stuff :-)

What's everyone doing for parking at the terminal? I'm going to look into the Park-n-Cruise option. Dad said the last time they went it didn't cost much per day to park at the terminal but I'm hearing it's expensive now.

So instead of working I created an FE spreadsheet. It lists user name, room #, real names for self, DH/DW, children and others category. If those participating in the FE want to PM me the previous information or just post it here, I'll include it on the spreadsheet. Then I can email you the spreadsheet or post on Google docs or something similar.

Thanks for putting together an FE spreadsheet Teach! I just sent you a PM with our info.

Also, thanks for mentioning parking. I totally forgot I was supposed to book that. Parking at the terminal is $75 for a 4 day cruise. We have always parked at the terminal but I am saving some $$ this time and parking at the Raddison. They have a shuttle to the port and it's really close by. It's $4.95 a day if you reserve on-line.

Here's the link if anyone is interested:

(I love that I can post links now!! :yay:)

Thanks for the link Tina. I wonder what the Radisson's parking lot is like (secure? fenced in?). $4.95 is a great price.

:cheer2: on the upgrade! I can't believe the gty's have been assigned!
Time's flying now.

So sorry not to be around. My son's friend died (by his own hand, unfortunately. ) and we've all been a mess. I'm friends with his mom and I can't say it's been nothing but awful, awful and tragic. Pain personified.

I had so many second thoughts about booking this vacation because of the cost. Now I'm so glad I did, 'cause family vacations push families to be together when life is pulling them in so many different directions.

I think of the my son's friend whose coming with us. His mom died prematurely a couple of years ago from a drug reaction. She had planned to bring him someday, but kept putting it off due to expenses.

As frugal as I am, there's something to be said for living in the 'now'! Hug your kids tonight and tell them that you love them, always, no matter what they do-that you love them even you're mad and yelling at them.

Sorry for the downer-back to the pixiedust~! :wizard::wizard:

Thanks so much for doing this teach819!

I will send my info straightaway!

On a side note or two: I rebooked my rental car again . Alamo has dropped prices, it seems. So if your an Alamo Insider and a BJ's member-Book using the Insider #, BJs #, $40 coupon code from BJs website but don't go thru BJ's website to book 'cause it's glitching. Go directly to Alamo.

For us bigger um..women, I noticed Marshall's has Miraclesuit's for $24-35 that are listed as 12, 14 or 16 but are definitely mis-marked and more for 18, 20 and 22. They still have their $120 labels on them! :rolleyes1

I gotta say, I'm really looking forward to this cruise!

So sorry to hear about your son's friend, that's so sad.

I love family vacations for that reason of you have to be together.

I was following the twitter feed on the Fantasy's christening in NY tonight. Surprised they didn't do a live stream fore everyone to enjoy. I cannot wait to get on the Dream ship!

Taking a sick day tomorrow since my son isn't feeling well. I think I'll get started on my door magnets and begin to figure out how to sew our FEs

Thanks so much for the sympathy! I think my crying bouts are lessening. My son is finding comfort on facebook with all his friends. Amazing how facebook played such a huge role in the grieving process for the kids! Posting pictures from toddlerhood til now, posting Tom's favorite songs, movies, drawings of him, poems to him. Amazing.

I have to go thru my magnets. I have tons from previous FE's and such. If I brought everything, I could plaster every inch of the door!

Alamo's prices dropped again. I just saved $117 more than yesterday's booking with the same exact info:

Premium car from 4/13 to 4/24 $135.75 base/$204.00 total that's using:

1) Insiders Id
2)BJ's corp. id spot code 7014696
3)BJ's $40 off 10 day minimum coupon AD8Z21SDB

If you're not a BJ's member, you can use Entertainment Book's codes and coupons or AAA or USAA, Costco whatever your a member of-I think they all get the same deals, really.

It is sad to hear about friends/relatives dying, esp one so young. Makes us all appreciate life and loved ones even more, knowing how unexpectedly it can be cut short.

I started working on my FE gifts, I hope we can get the final list soon. I would like to try to personalize as well - if you can *optionally* add your favorite Disney character(s), it may help a bit as well. At least for the kiddos.

Have a good weekend everyone!:thumbsup2
