Disney Dream! 8/15/2012

You're right, that's not fair! I'd love to know how their whole process works. Maybe you'll get lucky this time around!

That would be nice, to be lucky and get an upgrade but really I don't care all that much. I don't spend a lot of time in my cabin anyway.

I'm just happy to be onboard the ship. :boat:

Ack. 7050 is right in front of the elevator, and I'm sound sensitive! Has anyone cruised and had a room in front of the elevator? Will I lose my mind? I can sleep with ear plugs!

thx
Snick, first time cruiser and beyond excited!!! :cheer2:

The elevator will not open in front of your room. It will open to the middle between the sets of elevators.

You probably won't even notice that it is there.

Thanks Heather. I'll let you know how we make out. I'm hoping for the best!

Question: What time does everyone plan on arriving at the port? :scratchin

I heard they don't start letting people in until 10:30 am. Is that right?
Yes, I believe in June it was around 10:30-10:45ish that we were crossing the parking deck bridge, waiting to be let into the terminal. We plan on arriving at a decent time since we'll likely be on the first shuttle from the hotel. Unfortunately the earliest Port Arrival time from the check in's that was available was 12-1230pm so I realize we won't get a lower boarding number but we'd rather be there and get things done and ready instead of being at the hotel going nuts!! :lmao: I hope we'll get on to eat lunch at a decent time since we are early eaters - we shall see.
So far no upgrades for us :guilty:

They almost never upgrade us. You'd think they would upgrade us Platinum members every now and again :confused3

In soon to be 14 cruises with them we have only had 1 upgrade and that was on our very first cruise. Doesn't seem fair somehow.
I'm so sorry to hear this and you're absolutely right - it's not fair at all. As others mentioned, I'd love to know the reasoning that is used. I lean more towards feeling like we will get the "left overs" at this point but as long as we get what we "paid" for - I really can't complain. We knew this was a gamble for the much lower price we paid 30 days out, but I tell ya - it's not likely happening again! :rotfl2:

Refreshing my Planning Centre page every 5 minutes has begun....

In the meantime, here's some info about the staterooms to help pass time..

Every 5 minutes? You might have Kristin and I beat!! :rotfl2: I can't wait to hear what everyone thinks once we FINALLY get some cabin assignments. Let today be the day!! :yay:

I think that's right Karen,

We are getting to Orlando a day early and then taking the transfer from MCO to the port. We are hoping to get to the port around 11AM, we'll see how it works out, as we will be in the hands of the busses:rolleyes:

Yes, you officially have me beat, spdztr. Your DW might have you committed! DH has already gotten on me for "obsessing"...but he keeps asking "has anyone else on your boards heard yet?"...so he can't get on me too bad!

Will all of you O/I/VGTers be at the meet and greet? I'd love to meet those that have been "obsessing" with me!!

I'm not sure if we'll make it... with an almost 5 year old and a 2.5 year old, we don't make promises!

I just looked and there does seem to be plenty of verandah categories available still for our sailing.

Not showing any lower levels of cabins though.

So I'm thinking you should all end up with some fairly nice rooms.

We will be trying our best as well! Hopefully there will be plenty of time to make a quick stop by to say hello. I'm hoping I won't have to be in line for the early dining requests *AND* cabin requests - lol - just kidding, I think! :rotfl:

I've noticed that too - quite a bit of verandah categories and you'd think they would upgrade people if anything to get them "hooked" on those balconies and possibly free up those that only want oceanview. However I totally understand the "fair" aspect of it too - should people get upgraded when others paid outright for them? :confused3 I hope it happens to us, but I understand if it doesn't :)

Hoping soon, very soon.....I was telling a friend earlier I'm at the point that I don't think I'm ever going to see a cabin assignment. I just pray I'm not on a conference call, log in to my iPad and check, see 4 numbers and SCREAM! :rotfl2:

I'm SO tired of seeing:
Stateroom: Guaranteed Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah Category VGT, #GTY Makes me want to scream! I know I'll be pulling a major double-take when four numbers actually do pop up finally!

I wonder if the "3:00 hour" will be the lucky time today. I haven't had a chance to go back thru that IGT/OGT/VGT tracking thread to see if there were others in the past that were in our situation (down to 7 days). Just wondering for those people, when they actually got their assignment timewise. Maybe I'll investigate.

Here's to hoping something comes along today...at some point! pixiedust:

You are all cracking me up...and making me completely distracted from work! I keep reading up on your status to see if you all have received cabin numbers...and I'm asking myself "how does this affect me, and why am I so obsessed with keeping track of it?!" LOL! Good luck all!

I know - won't you ALL be so relieved when WE finally get our cabins?? I mean, really this is so distracting!! :rotfl:

This feels like a form of cruel & unusual punishment but then I realize we'll be on the Dream in a week so it's all good. It's the little things though - like knowing where you'll be sleeping and such! :rotfl2:

I will hereby stop obsessing! Of all things, it was DH that discovered it (I'm on the road), so I didn't even have the satisfaction of getting to hit refresh and actually experiencing a number being there! Thanks everybody for putting up with me. Heather, have you fallen out of your chair with excitement? Update!? Please tell me you got a room. Spdztr?

We got our room back! Yay!! :yay: I know some of you might think we are crazy for declining an "upgrade", but going from a family stateroom (8C) to a smaller stateroom with a veranda (5C), just isn't considered an upgrade to us. Would much rather have the larger room! Plus, my oldest granddaughter was really looking forwarded to the big round window with the window seat! :dance3:
(Sorry Snick, I know you don't feel the same; per below quote. I know that you will enjoy your veranda room!)

No one called me but I just checked my room number and we've been upgraded from an 8C to a 5C. We were originally booked in a 10 something and then I decided to pay for an upgrade to the 8C. I just checked now and we are in room 7050, which is a veranda 5C, just down the hall.

I'm a wee bit nervous with my kidlets, but I'll lay down the law about the veranda door!!! LOL

I'd heard that the rooms that can sleep 5 can get bumped up as they can fit more in that room. We are a group of 3. I didn't know that until after I upgraded.

Gosh, we went from an inside to a 5C for about 280 bucks, pre-cruise. Now that's what I'm talking about!!!

Best,
Snick : ) :cool1::cool1::cool1:

I think you're right about the rooms that sleep 5. I think that is why we were offered the upgrade. That and the fact that our room was in the lower price range for one that sleeps 5.

We were only offered an upgrade once before on a cruise...and I didn't want it then either, but didn't know that I could decline. (It was a different cruiseline, so maybe I might not of even had that option. ?) Anyway, that time they moved us veritically to a higher deck, same type room, but more to the end of the ship than the center. (Usually, I prefer mid-center of the ship.)

Well, here's hoping that those of you who are still waiting for a room assignment get it soon...and it's one that you are happy with. :flower3:

But, then again, how can you go wrong. Just being on this cruise is enough reason to be happy! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Looking forward to seeing you all soon! :wave2: :grouphug:

Omg!! This is pure torture! We are out eating and like a nut I got so excited when I saw your post!!! Still no cabin for us :(
