DISNEY DREAM 5-nights May 29th, 2011

forget the champagne.... they need to have a Diet Dr Pepper tasting! We could put some rum in it!

seriously though, I'm tihnking about bringing some DDP with me one way or another, so do I have to put it in my checked bag for the port or my carryon?

I am the same way with DDP. Luckily for me we are driving down so I am packing a carryon just with DDP.

Um....a) What is your name and B) what is your cabin#? because I'm telling ya...if I don't get to bring any with me, I'm seriously going to be knocking on your door by day3. :rotfl:

Definately in your carry-on. If you put it in your checked bag it could get crushed & leak all over your and anyone elses bags that are near yours.:scared1:
You don't want to have to do laundry on your first day of the cruise & neither do any other passengers.:goodvibes

The tastings sound fun, but because of the meds I am on for my heart and having arrythmias I have to stay away from alcohol. I asked my cardiologist & she said occasional drinks OK, but not a lot. I will save my alcohol for having some wine with dinner & maybe a drink of the day or 2 during the whole cruise. Hope the rest of you enjoy the tastings.:cool1:

I love the tiara idea- we can't miss eachother at Champagne tasting with those on!!!!!!!!!

ooohhh....love the tiara idea...I believe I'm a princess everyday!

OK, I'm definitely packing my tiara!! Yes, it will make it very easy for all us princesses to find each other, so first one there will be in charge of choosing a suitable spot and Chuck will be in charge of seeking out a Prince Consort for any Sleeping Beauties afterward!!

Let me just say that thinking about this is making these last few frantic days of tax season soooo much easier to get through!! Thanks for keeping my spirits up, everybody!

Dose anyone know if the Flying Dutchman is back at CC?
I think they took it out for the filming of the movie but the movie will be out in theaters the week before we leave.

I believe it was taken out bc it was rotting not for the movie. From the pics I saw I don't think there is anything left of it :(

However, who's betting they'll show the movie on the ship??

Bring it on as a carry on. I never pack liquids in my suitcase. I don't trust the way they toss the suitcases around. If you are able to buy a case you can put a tag on it and they will deliver it to your cabin.

I must have missed that memo:rotfl::rotfl:
So which design are we using and does it go on the front or back??

If you go to the roll call you will see the design for the teeshirts and badges.

I don't think front or back matters. Some may put their name on the front and design on the back.

Yes, they dismantled it because it was rotting. Really wasn't made to last that long in the water.

I am sure they will play the movie. In October, Secretariat was released the week before and we saw it on the ship.

Wow, I can't believe how long this thread is! Or how long ago it started!

I'm a first time cruiser, about a week ago my sister decided to take me and our mom on this cruise!

Anybody got any good information for a newbie who likes to know EVERYTHING?

Welcome aboard. There are links in the roll call where you can find information about DCL and first timer tips.

It's all top secret. You know how we DDP fans are. Although for the right amount of money I might reconsider:lmao: Just kidding!

Wow, it's a little overwhelming! I've read/watched all the Disney-produced information I could find, and I still have a couple of questions I'm hoping some of you nice folks can answer for me!

1. Theme nights: I read that there is a pirate night on the ship (very excited, my sister is going to freak) do we dress up for that or is it "what you're comfortable with?"

2. One of the emails I got said that there was a FORMAL night on the ship, but I haven't been able to find out anything more about that. I thought formal attire was only required at Remy's and maybe Palo's if you wanted to be really fancy.

3. Cell phones. I read somewhere that they have a mobile phone system that lets you stay in touch with your group if you split up. Is this necessary because there's no service or because cell phones are frowned upon?

4. How big are the bathrooms/showers? We are not petite ladies. Floor plans and pictures aren't that helpful. I'm not anticipating any issues, but I just wanted to be sure.

ummm. I think that's it for now. thanks!

Sorry if this has been asked before ... heck I may have asked already....

Does DCL do anything for D23 members like it does DVC and Castaway Members?

Do you think "pre-deployment vacation" counts as a celebration?

I think I will make t-shirts, but I know I'm not much into the bracelet thing so you can count on 2 less for that if that helps at all ;)

1. The pirate night a lot of people dress up. But defiantly want you are comfortable in.

2. There is one formal night. A nicer dress or nice pants and a dressier shirt.
rather than a sundress or khakis.

3. I am not sure about the cell phones. I was with only my aunt last time and we were usually always together.

4. I am not sure about the size on the dream but on the Magic they were not too bad. Definitely enough room for a grown adult. =)

welcome aboard!!!

1. Theme nights: I read that there is a pirate night on the ship (very excited, my sister is going to freak) do we dress up for that or is it "what you're comfortable with?" dress up as much as you are comfortable with. We've seen everything from just a printed t-shirt to outfits that cost hundreds of dollars! And some folks don't bother.

2. One of the emails i got said that there was a formal night on the ship, but i haven't been able to find out anything more about that. I thought formal attire was only required at remys and maybe palo's if you wanted to be really fancy. formal night is only on the 7-night cruises. This is a 5-night and there will be a "dress up" night, but it's optional. I'm going with a sort of cocktail dress and extra jewelry.

3. Cell phones. I read somewhere that they have a mobile phone system that lets you stay in touch with your group if you split up. Is this necessary because there's no service or because cell phones are frowned upon? there are extra fees for talk and data charged by your cell service provider on the ship and international long distance rates apply. When we board, our phones get turned off and go in the safe in our cabin and we don't touch them again until we pack up on the last night. Dcl has now installed a pair of wave phones in the cabins, so it's a lot easier to contact another member of your party should you go off to do separate activities. They do text and voice and you can contact other people on the ship, not just your cabinmates.

4. How big are the bathrooms/showers? We are not petite ladies. Floor plans and pictures aren't that helpful. I'm not anticipating any issues, but i just wanted to be sure.dh and i are both pooh-sized and while the bathrooms are smaller than we would like, we manage just fine, so i'm sure you will too!

ummm. I think that's it for now. Thanks! it looks like several of us are getting together at the champagne tasting on this cruise. If you ladies are interested, we're making it a princess party and you are welcome to wear your tiaras (although not required) and join in the fun!!

We finally recieved our Fish Extender and it is really nice. Everything we asked for. Gradysmom does great work. She shipped our pillowcase at the same time too. I would post a picture of it if I knew how.

One concern though. Being on the starboard side of the Dream, we will not have a fish but a Sea Horse. Will we be discriminated against??? Are we a lower form of sea goers??? Ok, so it is a really bad attempt at humor.
