DISNEY DREAM 5-nights May 29th, 2011

:welcome: to all the newbies.

I updated the roll call. If I missed anyone please let me know.

I am trying to make a decision about participating in the FE exchange. With this being our first cruise I don't want to get overwhelmed with extra stuff to do and bring. But, on the other hand, I have really enjoyed looking at all the FE threads and think my kids would love it. I am going to think on it a little more and see. My DH is the type who would think this is insane, so that has to factor in too.
Me too...undecided. Did it last time and really enjoyed finding little treats and I know the kids would probably love it since they are a bit older and would love to see if someone left them surprises, but I was running around the ship at like 5am trying to sneak things into people's FE's!!

Please add us to the FE list. DH and I always enjoy it. It is a good way to see everyone's doors, too. We usually like to do this on one day only, and are flexible as to which day. Just the two of us on this trip.:cool1

Hopefully you'll join us. My DH thought I was crazy. On our first DCL cruise, we did FE, had a Vow Renewal and I was trying to get everything I wanted to do, done (like shirts, magnets, gift baskets and excursions). It was a little crazy leading up to it. But the Disney magic that comes with the FE is what helps makes this a disney cruise to us. We love all the Disney type people and "RAK" (random acts of kindness). So when we came back to the room or came out of our room, there was almost always something in our pockets. The kids loved it and my DH & I got the warm fuzzies every time. My kids made the FE gifts with me. It helped them get excited for it. Remember you don't have to do elaborate gifts, just do what you want to or have time for.

Ha Ha. At first I thought that. But you don't really have to sneak around, so what if you see the people when you drop it off. The only ones I sneaked around for was when our group did Secret Mickey's too (kinda like secret santa gifts with a reveal at a lunch). I ended up delivering them in two trips, and while the kids took naps. Also we were planning to have a "map" of the boat with who got FE's so it help keep the running around to a minimum. Even at 9 my DS needed the nap, otherwise he was super cranky by dinner. Anyway, I hope you'll join us.

Sounds good. I'll need you & your DH's name & cabin number. I also loved checking out everyone's door.

Hi everyone....Very excited. We booked a fake date while on our October, 2009 cruise and finally decided to transfer to this date.

I booked a Cat 4C and paid way too much for it, but there wasn't much to chose from at this late date. We picked this cruise because the kids will be just getting out of school on May 20th, so we booked the following week in our Orlando time share followed by this Double Dip cruise. Everything just aligned up too much to miss this chance of trying the Dream.

By the cruise...
Ron DH
Tamie DW
Melissa DD 15
Megan DD 10

We are not wild about going to Nassau again which is why we prefer the longer cruises, but we are taking this trip more for the actual ship and the double dip is a nice bonus.

We have always cruised in October. Does anyone know what kind of weather and water temperature we can expect in late May on Castaway Cay? Last October, the water felt pretty chilly compared to the days prior in St Thomas & St Martin.

I'll send my oldest to the Teen Link later to meet other teens, but my youngest will be looking for a cruise 'email buddy" to meet prior to the cruise so she has a friend(s) to meet in person when we cruise and to play with in the clubs & at pool. She's done this on the last two cruises and its been great! Let me know if anyone has a current 4th grade daughter that might be interested in becoming email friends with Megan.

Take care!

:welcome: Tamie and Family. I added you to the roll call. There is a link in my signature in case you didn't see it.

We are not real crazy with the itinerary either but we wanted to check out the Dream. Hopefully in 2012 when the Fantasy is ready they will mix it up a bit. I would love to see them add a southern Caribbean route.

We were in CC the end of April in 2008 and the weather and water was perfect. Granted, it is not like it would be in the heat of the summer but was just right.

That would be awesome....:goodvibes We are like the rest of you...mainly going too spend time on the ship. I don't plan to get off the ship in Nassau this time....hopefully can enjoy that waterslide a bit that day.:cloud9:

I told my DD that one Castaway Cay day is for her and I too spend the day and then the second one she is headed too the teen beach and I am headed too Serenity bay..............:cloud9: This plan makes us both happy and we are so excited too have two stops at Castaway Cay.
We know we want too take a Kayak out by the Flying Dutchman...:thumbsup2

Still trying too decide if we want too stay on Disney property before the cruise and just drive over too Universal or stay closer too Universal parks? Really it is only a 10 minute drive too that area from Disney and I love staying at WDW...UGH! Decisions....:rolleyes1 I love um!

Heading too WDW next week for Food and wine and the Halloween party at MK. I can not wait!:goodvibes

Hi Virginia, please add us to the FE List
Donna (Disneyelf10) & DH:Sean cabin 6000

thanks!!
we'll have to see how big this list gets. If you need any help please let me know!:goodvibes

... Are we there yet????????????

MAN this is like the LONGEST wait ever!! I am getting frustrated, anxious, impatient.... I just want to be on the Dream!!!!

Somehow I missed the FE list - who's keeping it?
I'd like to be added on.

I have a 'what may seem odd' question. Is anyone sailing on this cruise (that is evidently part of this thread) sailing with a child with special needs? I'm hoping my HF ASD son will be able to make friends in the kids club but most boys his age think he's weird when he puts his hands on his ears when the noise level gets too loud, and it goes downhill from there. Luckily his sister is with him and she's like his greatest friend and defender.

Will get it to you this weekend and PM you. Thanks!

I am going today to find some carry-on bags for the cruise. We only have 1 small piece of luggage right now that all four of us use and I think it would be easier to get everyone their own small carryon instead.

I haven't decided about the FE exchange yet. I'm trying to find some ideas for it and see how it goes!

Fish Extender List

Please add us to the FE list: :cool1:

OKraysLoveDisney in two staterooms (5 Disney lovin adults):
Dear Hubby, Dear Son and Me- Dear Mom will be in #11000
Dear Daughter and Dear Son-in-law: Deluxe Inside waiting for #

If the list gets too big we may want to think about dividing the list in to groups i.e. this way each family only has to bring gifts for one or two days, but you will still receive many FE surprises since there are so many families signed up. A family could sign up for a specific date and then do their FE delivery that day...if you have 25 families that partake you still get 5 different surprises every day of the cruise yet each family only brings gifts for one day. Don't want to sound like I am trying to overtake this FE, just an idea that I thought I'd toss out here to help save on extra luggage! ;)

My friend and I did a 7 night cruise this past Feb and we did the FE; we took gifts for 4 days and it really amounted to a lot of extra space in our luggage!

Mike and I have two grown children, both boys, well men now...Between the two of them they have blessed us with 14 grandchildren, my youngest has 6 girls, age ranging from 19Yrs, to almost 3Yrs. My eldest son has 8 children. 5 boys and 3 girls. Ages ranging from almost 12Yrs, to 8 months ...Christmas is FUN!
We have taken the oldest grandchildren to WDW at different times. Every other year we try to take a grand or two to WDW, and every other year we go as a "just us" trip. The Dream cruise is a "Just us" trip.;)

4. Do you have any pets?
Yes, we have a Mini Schnauzer, we have named Albert K. Ninestine. :teeth:

Well both...I save all year for my vacations, as I said before I love to travel, and wouldn't be able to go at all (especially these days), unless I save, save, SAVE for them. But I don't see not using your money for fun if it's available. If it just sits there for a just in case scenario, then you may have money when you are old, but you have no memories.

July 25th, 1956, DH-April 28, 1955

Yeah more Disney Nuts!

I'm a little confused. It sounds like on your last cruise, you were bringing FE gifts for each family for 4 days. Meaning 4 gifts per family. That would take up alot of space! :scared: I think we were thinking that each family/cabin would only do one gift per cabin (unless you wanted to divide it by kids/adults or 1 per person w/in the cabin or whatever you wanted to do, we're leaving it open to you) and you could deliver it anytime during the cruise. Yeah? Let me know if you have questions. Otherwise, I've added your name to the FE list. Can't wait to May!

I don't think anyone mentioned it here, but it has been on the main DCL Forum...

There are now 3 showings in the theater on the Dream. And we are assigned show times now. I think for the main dining seating at 6pm, you will be assigned either the 5pm show or 9pm show. For the late dining seating, you will be assigned the 5pm or 7pm show.

It may not matter to most of you, but we had main seating and 9pm show. On our last cruise, the show was too late for my kids (unless they had a nap, which they usually don't have at this age) and so we didn't make it to all of them, so we're glad we had the option for the 5pm show now. Anyway we called our TA and she was able to change it for us. Just an FYI for the rest of you.
