Disney done differently, (BOG dining updates pages 202 and 203)

Oooh they sounds amazing!! The guys look so cute in their costumes!!

Thanks!!

Loved the costumes !!!

Thanks!!

you could go as Princess Leah! or wear a SS t-shirt

I did get the Her Universe Princess Leah hoodie. The hood has her buns, rofl, and the jacket looks like her tunic. I also have a shirt that I might wear for C6 that down the middle has her body in the Jabba prisoner costume. Not sure I have enough guts to wear the shirt. But I will definately have the hoodie!!

I love Anakin and Goofy's picture! How fun for both of them...

Thanks!!

I am so very glad that you guys got to do Buzz & Woody's meet and greet. They just may be some of my favorite pictures of yours. I love that you can really tell how much fun he is having

Thanks! The queue was a blast!

That costume was worth whatever it cost! PRICELESS!!! Love the picture!
I am sorry I wasn't home when you called, I sent you an email with the info, HTH!

It was just a little over $100 including pants, shirt, belts and bands, cloak and tons of accessories that go on the belt AND shipping!!

Goofy mailed Lisa's package the other day. There is a letter inside that I wrote that was dictated by Anakin.

Tink, I absolutely LOVE the photo! The guys look great.

Thanks!!

It is Weekend 2 of SWW!! Let the fun begin!! Round 2!!

Oh Grumpy would love to hop in one of your suitcases!! He hasn't done much fishing lately. But he is going to spend a month this summer fishing with my in-laws!! It's his graduation present from us. It will end with a giant fish fry.

My thoughts and prayers go out to them and everyone in the area. I thought of you as soon as I heard it on the radio earlier.

Thanks for thinking of us! When we arrived in Orlando on Friday night, there were helicopters and film crews. I-4 a major interstate was closed from the 417 to the 528 it said on the radio.

The roads reopened fairly soon. We drove by it on Saturday and you could see the ground still smoldering. It was VERY close to the road!! I can understand why they closed the highway!!

Thank you. I hope you are enjoying your Memorial Day!

Friday afternoon I got a text that I-4 was closed due to a brush fire and traffic was backed up. We debated whether to leave or not. I turned on the tv and to try to find out where the road was closed, it said from the 417 to the 528. I don't know my roads, I drive by landmarks and apparently dh is the same.

We made the decision to go. We got onto I-4 with no problems then ended up in bumper to bumper traffic. All traffic was directed off the highway. We had left the GPS at home and had no clue which way to head.

I called The Palms Hotel & Villas where we were to stay the night and I was given directions. Why do people in Florida like to name so many roads with the same name? Subdivisions are famous for that and it can get so confusing.

We made it to the motel! The best directions would have been to go to where the helicopters were hovering. 3 helicopters were directly above the motel. There was a Bay News 9 reporter standing in the tree line right down the street at 192 and Parkway. We new the fire was nearby, but had no idea how close. We could surely smell it!

Check in was a breeze! I had called the motel earlier in the month because we were considering changing from CSR in early May to them. A very nice man from The Palms gave us a code to use online to get the best rate possible. We didn't change from CSR to them, but I did use the code for this Memorial Day weekend instead.

Reading online ratings and reports of the resort had me a bit concerned. Both Lidian and Blessedmom04 have stayed here. Both said it was very clean, very friendly staff, and nice, but it wasn't Disney.

We were quite satisfied with the room when we got there. We were placed in building 7. This is the only building with an interior entrance for the rooms and an elevator.

The room was very spacious.

The pros and cons

The pros:

1. The staff was very friendly. Disney could take lessons from them on friendliness. I was truely surprised by how wonderful they all were.

2. It was very clean. There wasn't a spec of dust or fingerprint to be found on any of the surfaces, except the dishwasher which was very clean on the inside, but not so clean on the outside. All the drawers were immaculate inside.

3. There is a garbage disposal!

4. The bathroom is large.

5. The living area has comfortable seating.

6. The full size refrigerator with full size freezer!!

7. Free continental breakfast and coffee/tea through out the day. Breakfast included waffles, premade eggs, bagels, muffins, packets of hot cereal, cold cereal in dispensers, flavored creamers, canned fruit salad no fresh fruit, bread for toast, toasters, microwave, apple juice, orange juice, lemonade, packets of syrup, pats of butter and margarine, packets of jelly, packs of cream cheese.

8. The kitchen has pots/pans, utensils, sharp knife, cutting board, glasses, mugs, plates, ice cube tray, 1 "flipper/spatula".

9. Plenty of towels. Also they had their own towels for the pool at the pool.

10. Parking is near the room

11. Convenient to I-4.

12. Eating places near by, Charlies Steak and Sea Food, Wendy's, Subway, Golden Corale, Kobe, Boston Lobster Fest.

Cons:

1. Only 2 very small trash cans in the room with the only large trash can I could find being the one at the pool.

2. You could hear passing traffic on I-4, the rooms were not sound proof and you could hear all your neighbors. The windows are single pain, so you could hear anyone outside talking, even in normal voices. We were in the furthest building and could still hear the people in the pool. We were on the first floor and could hear any foot traffic above us as the ceiling made creaking noises.

3. There was an odd smell through the air vents. It wasn't mold. It smelled almost like CLR cleaning products and stale coffee.

4. You must wear your wristband to swim in the pool or eat breakfast. If you lose your wristband you must pay for it.

5. Upkeep of wear and tear on furniture and fixtures wasn't as good as Disney. For example, the window upstairs above our room had a crack in it. Our TV cabinet had a huge chunk of wood missing from the side. Sidewalks weren't swept clean like Disney does daily.

6. Twice housekeeping knocked on our door around 10:40am on check out day to see if we left yet. We still had the do not disturb magnet on the door, but they disturbed.

I'm sorry that your Palms stay was mixed. We couldn't hear anyone (neighbors, traffic, foot traffic, pool, etc.) in our room. The upkeep wasn't amazing by any means, but no broken windows and only normal wear and tear was visible to us when we were there. But I am glad you did find some good stuff there! We put the wristbands on the kid's legs so it wouldn't slip off when we went swimming. How was the pool? It was really our only complaint when we stayed there. :goodvibes

Grumpy graduates on Friday!!! He is all registered for his fall college classes too. We are going to order Anakin's school books today.

Huzzah! :woohoo: Grats to Grumpy!!!!! What will he be taking in the Fall?

Do you order Anakin's books through a program or just search for the best deals on books on various sites?

We didn't have time for swimming, but it looked very inviting. I did do a bug inspection because you said the pool was buggie when you were there, and the water looked nice and clear! I never did find out if the pool is heated or not.

What building were you in and which direction did your room face?

The noise didn't bother me, but on Saturday night it really bothered Anakin. He tossed and turned every time there was a sound overhead. We could also hear the elevator going up and down too. I was so exhausted from the sun and SWW, that I had no trouble sleeping. The only thing that really bothered me about the room was the smell. It didn't bother Goofy or Anakin, but it did bother me and Grumpy.

We'll definately stay there again! Overall I'd rate it a nice place, spacious, and a great value for the $ spent.

I don't recall which building, but we were on the 2nd floor and facing the parking lot. I know we had neighbors next to us and below us. We were directly across from the lobby area. Glad that the pool was bug-free! :goodvibes

We didn't notice any odors when we were there. Maybe they changed their cleansers to something a bit stronger? Still, it's not fun to have to put up with a chemical smell during your stay!

He's taking a humanities elective (some kind of history maybe late Roman?), speech, etc. The history class had college comp as a PR, good thing he took that this spring for free as a dual enrollment class!!

We are continuing with Abeka. If you order from a meeting it's free shipping. It's a bit of a drive, but shipping is 10% of book costs so it's a saving. As he finishes that curriculum, we add supplemental material from other curriculums.

He is far ahead in math and science, but will need to really brush up on writing and reading over summer.

Several museums in the area have homeschool classes, so he will be going to a class or two a week.
