LOS ANGELES - The Walt Disney Co. said Wednesday it would donate $100,000 to the Red Cross to help earthquake victims in Haiti.

Chief Executive Robert Iger said in a statement, "We hope this donation will help the Red Cross to provide immediate aid and relief to the thousands of people affected by this terrible tragedy
."

Good for them. Know what makes me sad? Knowing how little of that money will actually make it to those that need it.:sad1:

$100,000? From WDW Corporation? They take in more than that in one day in parking fees alone!

Jeez! They didn't HAVE to give anything at all. $100,000 is a lot of money that I'm sure will help many, many people. Good job, Disney! :thumbsup2

Every little counts but I'm sorry 100k is rather sad for a company like Disney. My organization that are all individuals donating their own money will be giving close to 500k. Not all of us make lots of money its just the amount of people willing to give a little. If Disney took $1 for every park guest this week they would have a large dollar figure to give without hurting profits that much. We also forget that Disney owns many other hugely profitable companies such as ESPN.

I think 100.000 is a good amount. I think Disney is having money issues, That is why they are doing so many promotions to get people in the parks.

I saw Walmart gave half a million and they are also doing some sort of meals

Good for the Pitts and Jolie,

For an organization the size of Disney, honestly, $100,000 is a weak effort.

I agree.

Jolie-Pitt are donating $1 million and Tiger is donating $3 million. Baseball is donating $1 Million.

A hundred grand is an extremely paltry amount, basically pocket change, for such a large corporation.

I think they could and should do better. Hopefully it is just a typo and they left out a zero.

They don't have to but their promotion this year is volunteering and service. I find it ridiculous that the Disney Corporation is giving what would be the equivelent of 50 cents for you and me..

not going to scoff at $100K, but I had the same thought.

Major league baseball donated $1M. I think if Bran an Angelina can do $1M, then diseny can do more then just what they make off of 7142 parking spaces.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. :sad2:

So true.

And you know, this is what Disney is giving to the Red Cross. And they could still be giving. Or they may not give another penny. It isn't up to me to tell any corporation what to do. Or anyone. The only donation I have any control over is my own.

If major corporations/celebrities want to help with the efforts, why do they have to disclose it as though they are so wonderful for doing it. Just do it!

Yup, you are right about that. I personally don't feels it's anyones business how much someone is donating, but if these celebrities and coperations don't announce it, then people wonder if they donated at all. However, once they do announce it, then you can't help but to expect people to pass judgement on the amount, based on what we all assume they have in their bank accounts.

Jay Z and Beyonce announced that they are donating $500,000. They earned over 300 million last year between the two of them. People are complaining that they didn't give enough, since Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are donating 1 million.

In regards to Disney's $100,000 donation, I also feel it's a bit low. For a multimillion dollar coperation it's really a small amount. How much do those commercials cost?
