Disney Dollars at the Resaurants?

Can Disney Dollars be used at all of the resorts, restaurants, and shops on Disney property?

I've used Disney Dollars at the majority of places. I am not sure about Swan, Dolphin and restaurants not owned by Disney such as Big River Grille.

We used Disney dollars last year (we received them as a part of settlement over a room pricing dispute) they were great and could be used everywhere even at the carts in the park for water, popcorn, etc. We did find a few cashiers at the counter service who did not know how to apply them, just tell them they are applied like travelers checks and there is no problem.
