Does anyone know if we are still able to purchase Disney Dining plan since we are booking our rooms through fairy tale wedding and not purchasing the magic your way package? :confused3

I was told a firm no by Kristi (from DFTW)...you can only get the DDP if you are booking a package that includes park tickets. The only way around this (I believe) is if you book your resort stay using DVC points.

I believe that if you book your rooms through the discount DFTWs is giving you either through a room block or whatever else they set up for you, you can't use that discount and then add on the dining plan too. Disney considers the dining plan a discount as well and you normally can't combine two discounts (there are exceptions but the DFTWs discount is not one of them).
Sorry!

I just received a pin for a free dining plan while we are there in June 2010, I called and was told that because I did not have any park tickets booked (because we are using AP's) that we would not be able to take advantage of the free dining because of that. He said that if we wanted the Dining plan we would have to book at least 1 day park ticket.

I thought with APs you can add the dining plan, but you have to pay for it. So you couldn't get free dining since that's a package and you need to buy tickets, but couldn't you add it to your room only reservation since you have APs? I could be wrong but I thought I read that over on the resorts board.

We're just going to use our TIW card.

I was told the same as Boston - that to include the dining plan we would need to purchase at least one park ticket for each of us for one day (not the park hopper).
We did this , and will just give the tickets to family (maybe a prize of some sort, we havn't decided yet). :headache:

If you buy the 1-day tix they will not expire, you could always save them for a trip after your APs expire?

Getting the DDP free is a great deal but remember that you will be paying rack rate (full price) for the room, plus the one day tix.

True...we did this once.

And yes, the FREE dining is a hook where you have to pay full price for the rooms.

We did DDP in June '08 for our Escape wedding and it was WAY TOO MUCH food. People really should not eat that much. I suggest getting the TIW card if you have your AP and eating only what you want. Better deal, IMHO.

Hi Everyone,
I'm hoping someone can help me. I am interested in buying the TIW card but have a few questions:

1. Where can I buy it?
2. If we have a party of 13 and DF and I are the only ones with AP's can we use the card to get the discount on the entire bill?
3. If I have ressies at Kona, Ohana, Whispering Canyon, and Boma is it worth getting the TIW card?
4. Can someone just explain what it is

TIA :goodvibes

1. You can buy it at the park gates (the ticket booths).
2. I believe it only covers 9-10 persons, but you can get another card for DF (I think at a discounted rate) and cover more guests.
3. If you are a party of that many, then yes! We make out in the end with just the two of us!
4. Discount on your food and drinks (including alcohol) - 20% off but they add a 18% gratuity automatically. This doesn't sway us because we usually tip 20% anyways, so it still saves us!
