I was reading the posts on the Board regarding the Disney Dining Plan and complaints. Can someone tell me what the choices are for kids? It looks as if there is only mac n cheese, hamburgers & chicken strips. The pictures I saw on AllEarsNet look like unbreaded chicken strips, is that correct? I have about three of the most pickiest eaters in the world and am now scared I did the wrong thing by buying the DDP. Also, now that I purchased the DDP, can I cancel it and get a refund?

The menus on AllEarsNet are pretty accurate. I would read them for yourself rather than getting concerned about the bickering back and forth that you may have seen.

Having said that, most of the families with children we observed a couple of weeks ago seemed very pleased with the choices available. YMMV.

I agree with bicker's advice. Please check out the menus yourself - some of the kids ones are also posted in one of the sticky threads at the top of the page (just make sure they were posted in 07). If it doesn't look like your kids will be happy eating from the kids menus and you'd be buying a lot of food OOP then dropping the DDP might be a good idea. You can make changes to your reservation without penalty up to 45 days before arrival.

There you will find all the menus, even the kids menus. Our kids had no problem finding something they liked. The chicken you are talking about is grilled strips. Only a few restaurants have that as an option. All have about 2 meals that relate in a way to the restaurant then about 3 options of the more generic stuff like mac n cheese.

I think we will be eating at a lot of buffets this year - or buying extra food OOP for our DS9.

Last time we went with the ddp, we ate our table service only at buffets. It was faster and the kids had more choices. However, for counter service the new kids meals don't look too great. I would look at the menus and know exactly wear the decent kids meals were so there would be no surprises.

unless you went up to every family with kids and asked them how they liked the kids menu I don't know how you know they are pleased with the menu?

Disney does a lot surveying. I think my party was stopped at least three times during our week-long visit. They survey on everything, and with their surveys they gain normalized (i.e., valid) information about what people like and don't like. In addition to surveying, they are able to correlate menu changes with revenue changes.

While we can all talk about what we personally feel or what we've seen, what matters is what Disney knows.

I have a super picky DD4, and we're vegetarians. I'm lucky she LOVES LOVES LOVES mac & cheese, and recently starting loving PB&J. I was worried we'd have a problem, but after looking at the menus I felt a lot more sure the DDP was the right way to go!
