I'd love to hear your favorite places to eat at WDW Resort that are great but save you money. Do you have a favorite restaurant? Do you make the kids share adult meals?

We eat breakfast in our room every morning to avoid eating out for that meal.

Now I haven't been in a while but we ate at Peco Bills got 2 double cheese burger combos with fries and drink ask for 2 extra buns and split it. Plenty of food for the 4 of us. My kids were small at the time 6 and 11 but it worked.

I love Pecos Bill!

I packed lunches and snacks our first trip. We had breakfast in our room. We then had a buffet TS or found CS for dinner. Kids would share adult size meals. We did our first trip on a tight budget.

we choose late breakfast buffet slots that way it is more like lunch for less money. have a snack late afternoon and then dinner.
quite often I get a kids meal at QS as its cheaper.

We ate breakfast in the room (yogurts, protein bars) and brought in sandwiches, trail mix and fruit snacks for lunches so we could eat whenever we wanted- we had a picnic on Tom Sawyer Island which was wonderful. Sandwich rounds held up really well in our soft lunch bag!
Then I picked the 3 cheapest places in each park so we have a few options. Because we kept to a nice budget, we were able to splurge on some yummies in Epcot.
I didn't know about the kid's meal ordering when we went, but I will this time. Also, if you ask for things like Fries removed from a burger tray, it is supposed to be cheaper but I can't verify that.

We will be doing the same this year. We love QS because we like moving around and seeing things and only need a 20-30 minute break to eat right now.

When we went on our first family trip, we bought the meal plan. When we figured up what it cost vs. what we would have spent on what all we ate had we paid oop, we realized that we grossly overspent by getting the meal plan. (This is a ymmv type thing, however.)

On our second trip, we did not get the meal plan. We still ate a character meal or an AYCTE/buffet meal each day (I say this to note that there is no sharing at these--you pay your adult or child price based on your age, and there's no deviating from that). When we ate at a QS location, we used that opportunity to split meals, or I would order a kid meal. At Pecos Bill's, we ordered two orders of the fajitas for the four of us. It was almost enough. My husband is a big eater, so he was still hungry. I think we got him something else later. We also bought snacks as we pleased, but it was not enough for the snack plan to have saved us money. We saved money by paying oop.
Also, our kids like popcorn. We bought a popcorn bucket, and refilled it as needed. We will do that again on the next trip.

We ate in our room or on our way to the bus stop most mornings, and that worked well for us. Granola bars, fruit, juice boxes, etc. Easy to carry and eat. Very inexpensive.

For the next trip, we will be in our travel trailer at the campground. We will average two meals a day at our campsite. (Epcot is the exception--all three meals there. Good food at Epcot.) When we camp, I tend to make a lot of meals in the crock pot, so we will do a some of that. Since it will be summer, we plan to have lunchables, chicken salad sandwiches, and other cold foods available for meals much of the time, however. We've found on our last few summer trips (to other locations) that we really just want cold food when it's hot.
I can make a nice meal for the four of us (and have leftovers) for what it would cost to feed ONE of us at a disney TS restaurant. Saving money making our own food at times makes me feel better about splurging on character meals.

At MK we eat around 10:00ish at Gaston’s . We have 2 adults 3 kids (9,6,1) We like to split 2 cinnamon rolls ( huge) and a fruit and cheese plate . Keeps us full for a while . Later it’s usually just Mickey pretzels :) Hubby and I get kids meals at Sunshine Seasons in Epcot . They come with a refillable fountain drink . The pizza focaccia bread is yummy . In AK there is a fantastic stand in Asia that sells teriyaki beef sliders with homemade pickles. They are not always open but are soooo good and about $5 . If we do a character meal we usually pick and off day and do a late breakfast like the previous poster .

we get groceries delivered and eat breakfast in the room and make a wrap or sandwich to take with us along with some snacks for the parks. for dinner we like to go to disney springs and eat. you can find some reasonably priced options there.

edit to add: wolfgang puck express, polite pig, earl of sandwich, blaze pizza and a few others

Katsuri Grill gives great bang for the buck, financially and taste wise. It's set back from the promenade of WS, has A/C and gives shelter from inclement weather of all types.

Sommerfest, at the Germany Pavilion, Yorkshire County Fish and Chips @ the UK Pavilion are price and locale winners for us. Same for Chefs de France if you order wisely.

When we visit MK whether staying at a monorail hotel or not we eat at the nearby monorail resorts or take a boat over to Wilderness Lodge where choices are more plentiful and certainly quieter. Nice to see other resorts as well.

We are light breakfast eaters so putting together a Continental breakfast from the food courts is simple. You can just as well place an order for a food delivery to your hotel and utilize the room's fridge. Use the room's coffee machine to make hot water for oatmeal as well as coffee, hot chocolate and tea. You can actually make non instant oatmeal in the coffee maker as well.

Buy a cured sausage such as salami, chorizo, or soppressata, and hard cheese, for a lunch or sunset sit on the balcony/patio for enjoyable down time in your room. you can add fresh fruit and or veggies from the food court or your fridge. Nothing wrong with a jar of giardinieria added to the mix.
Buy some pre boiled eggs with your grocery order or at the food court as well as a bag of your fav lettuce/salad mix and include a deli order and make a chef's salad for dinner or lunch.

Think like you are camping and only your imagination will limit you from eating any meal in your hotel room or the WDW grounds.

Don't forget that Tom Sawyer's Island makes for a wonderful picnic area in the heart of the hurly burly of MK.
