Does anyone know if you can actually walk up to Guest Services and purchase the card right then and there?

IIRC, in the past, you would go to Guest Services, pay, and they would mail you a card, which could take several weeks.

You can buy your card at Guest Services now. Last February we bought our new AP's and then our DDE card immediately after at Guest Services at the MK.

You pay for it and get it right then and there. You can go to guest services at the 4 major parks, the International gateway in Epcot or DTD to get it.

It says there is an 18% gratuity automatically added. I am assuming this is for table service restaurants, only. Not counter service, right?

There are Guest Services both inside and outside the parks. Yes, you do need proof of FL residency or an AP to purchase DDE/TiW.

where exactly is the Guest Services in DTD?

There's one in the same building as the sports shop. Another one is a freestanding little building by Pleasure Island.

Unless they have changed something since January, I don't think you will get an actual "card" when you purchase at Guest Services (and you can do this at any Guest Services location I believe). If I remember correctly, they will issue you a temporary card when you purchase, and mail you a plastic one in the next few weeks.

The temporary card works fine. But maybe they've changed this.

We got ours in December at the IG at Epcot and it's a permenant one made out of the same material as the annual passes. My parents got theirs in May and its the same as ours.

Same material as the APs which is reportedly Tyvek. We've had APs for years and the material seems indestructible.

You can get the DVC discounted APs at IG. Just be sure to go to the booth marked Guest Services. The other booth is tickets. You can purchase APs there but not TiW.

if we purchase a TiW card (boy, that looks weird!) at guest relations in DTD, do we have to have an activated annual passport first? we have the vouchers already, but I haven't activated them yet. Can i activate them at DTD and at the same time purchase the TiW card?

Yes, at DTD you can turn in your voucher for APs and then purchase TiW.

Yes, they are. I was not too happy about it and even less so when I accidentally confused it with old admissions media and threw it away by mistake.....

Thanks for the answer. I am not a fan of the paper AP's (I'd prefer a card like what others get as room keys)

Oh well, not much I can do about it other than grin and bear it.
