Disney Dining,DIS Meets, and WAIT-Why is that lady holding..... FINAL THOUGHTS 11/27

Afterwards, we walked over to DinoLand and rode Dinosaur, stand-by. If I remember, the wait time posted was only 20 minutes. After we finished, it was around 11:30 and everyone seemed hungry, so we decided to grab some lunch. I think Kevin really wanted some Flame Tree, but the kids didn’t want that, and they were starting to fuss about the heat. They didn’t want to get pizza either, so we just decided to go in Restaurantosaurus. I think everyone wound up ordering either chicken nuggets or bacon cheeseburgers. It was standard Disney counter service, but at least it was cool inside out of the heat.

As we finished up and headed out to leave, we realized that we could catch the 1:00 Nemo show. So we walked over and moved through the line. Dana (racefanof88) had called during lunch, and I had missed her call, so I returned her call while we were walking into the theater. Dallas and Reid wanted to meet up, but we decided that we’d try after the show.

It was still about 25 minutes until show time, and we managed to get a great seat---4th row from the front in the center section!

Since we had time to sit, rest, relax, and cool off, the kids took advantage of the time to listen to their iPods and, of course, text their friends!

Time for the show!

I really love the message of this show. As a parent, I love my kids, and while I want to protect them, I know I have to let them go out into the world and let them fly. A lady I know put it this way---Your kids are like beautiful butterflies that you take such good care of and love, but in the end, you want them to spread their wings and fly. :goodvibes

After leaving the show, I tried to get back with Dana, but they had left the park. Their room at CBR was ready, and they were heading over there to get checked in.

We walked back over to EE and used our fast passes.

Now, this time, Kevin decided he would ride as the fifth person in our family. Because the crowd had grown, they were pulling single riders to fill in the spot. As we got seated, I looked back to see who was sitting with him, and I saw an attractive, older lady. She was talking to him, asking him about his family. He pointed us out in front of him. As I looked back, she said, “Is this ok?” I guess she wanted to know if I was ok with her riding with him. I laughed and said “Sure!” It was time for the ride to start, and I forgot about her for a moment. When the ride stoped-at the ‘ripped-out track’-I looked back---This lady had her arm through the crook of my husband’s arm, holding onto him.

I didn’t have time to think about it, because we were off –flying backwards into the mountain. As the ride ended, the brakes engaged, I looked back over my shoulder. Not only was this lady still holding onto Kevin, but now she had her face completely turned into his shoulder! :lmao: The kids and I started laughing. After getting off the ride, she looked at me, and kept saying, “I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry!”

Well, come to find out, Kevin said that when the ride started, she had told him that she didn’t like roller coasters or heights! :sad2: Her husband had told her this was a train ride. After that first big hill, she grabbed Kevin’s arm. At the stop, before the backwards part, Kevin said he told her that we were about to go backwards. That’s when she buried her face in his shoulder. He said she was crying, and she kept saying, “I’m so sorry, Kevin.”
Needless to say that when she came off that ride, she was looking for her husband, ready to give him a piece of her mind! While I felt bad for her, we laughed and laughed about it. It’s not every day you go to Disney, and a complete stranger holds onto you and presses their face into your shoulder---Of course, except for park exit at closing time or the oh, so loved, Fantasmic exit! ;)

***Continued in next post

We left “Asia” and decided we would try to get into the 2:30 FOTLK. We walked (ran) over to Camp Minnie-Mickey only to find that they had the line stopped outside. We were told that it was standing room only. We decided that we did not want to go on, so we went over to visit some friends on the character trails.

We saw Mickey,

Goofed around with Goofy,

And then quacked some jokes with Donald. (Sorry---I couldn’t help myself!)

By then, the FOTLK show had ended, and the crowd was leaving the theater. We decided to go over and catch the 3:30 show. We had to wait in line for about 10-15 minutes, as they cleared and cleaned the theater.

We got seats on the floor, in the warthog section. (I usually try for the lion section-It’s my favorite place to sit.)

One of the best parts of the show-

When the show was ended, everyone was hot, and ready to return to the resort. So, we headed toward the park exit, and stopped to take a photo pass picture in front of the Tree of Life.

We paused a moment near the Oasis. It must have been breeding season for the spoonbills. There were several birds engaged in, shall we say, some compromising positions! Here’s a picture:

Did y’all really think I was going to put in a picture of that? :rotfl:

UP NEXT: Friends share a ride and we close down MK!

We usually FP this ride, so it was fun to go through the regular line and look at everything. Disney does such a great job setting the mood for every ride/attraction they do.

I have only been through the Fastpass line. I want to go through the regular line just for pictures, but then I'll just leave before getting on the ride. I have wondered if people would just let me wander through the line to take pictures if I promised them I was not 'skipping' to ride.

Since we had time to sit, rest, relax, and cool off, the kids took advantage of the time to listen to their iPods and, of course, text their friends!

Modern technology can make wait times much nicer for everyone. :goodvibes

Love the Nemo Musical! We have the CD, and it is so fun to listen to it and picture the show going on. I love the message, too. When Crush teaches Marlin a good lesson in parenting, I just think it is so sweet. At 53 years old (next month), I smile whenever I think of that section of the show. :)

What a great Animal Kingdom day! That's too funny about the woman holding onto Kevin! I would have liked to hear what she said to her husband when she found him. :lmao: Train ride indeed! :rotfl:

Hmmm, those don't look like spoonbills to me.

Great AK update! Love those pics from EE! Wow! He was being REALLY brave! LOL! You really did get a great seat in Nemo! Great pics! Aww what a nice lady to ask if sitting next to DH was ok! LOL! You took really great family pics with the characters and the tree of life! Super cute! LOL@ the birds pic! That’s too funny! Can’t wait for the next update!

Your description of the lady holding onto Kevin has me :rotfl2: this morning!! Like Jackie, I would love to know what she had to say to her hubby after that (did he not ride with her :confused3)

Oh what a funny story! We had something similar happen at MGM. In fact, I think I'll have to tell about that on my PTR!

We finally get the story behind the title! It definately made me giggle this morning. Going through the single riders line a lot on my March trip - I had many encounters with other guests and often was asked about the ride...but I don't think any of them hid their eyes in my shoulders! :lmao:

Oh man, I always want to take pics at the top of EE but I know I will drop my camera. I drop it when I am standing still, so plummeting off a mountain is not the best time to have it in my hands.

That is so funny about the woman grabbing onto your DH. It was nice of her to ask you if it was OK, but I'm sure you had no idea what you were actually agreeing to! :rotfl:

How great is it that you got to ride Expedition Everest not one but two times?

I actually laughed outloud at your description of the lady holding on to Kevin. It reminds me of the time we rode Tower of Terror and there was a teenager (probably about 15 or 16) who was sitting beside John and it was his first time to ride. By the time we had dropped several times and come to a stop, I looked over and he, literally, had his arm through John's and had one leg thrown over John's lap. He was apologizing like crazy! Not such a tough teenager now was he?

Your seats at Nemo were great. Maybe I'd like the show better if we had such good seats. Every time we go, we're sitting in the very back.

You had me going there for a minute and I thought you were actually going to post a picture of the spoonbills doing "the nasty".

Michelle, that was HALARIOUS!
I was cracking up, and everyone's looking over at me like I'm crazy

It's also kind of funny because my parents once told me that when they went to WDW before we were born, they rode ToT, and the young lady next to my dad was so freaked out, she was holding onto my dad the whole time!

I looove all your FoTLK pics! We've never seen it, but I'm making sure we see it in a few weeks.

I really enjoyed walking through the stand-by line. It was fun to look at everything---That's when I found the hidden Mickey-Yeti! :thumbsup2

I would have liked to have heard that conversation, too, Jackie! Her husband has ridden on the train behind us, so she had to wait on him to finish. But her friends were waiting for her, and she literally collapsed on them, crying!

Thanks, Keala! :)

I thought it was funny when she first asked if it was ok for her to sit by DH, but of course I had no idea at that time that she'd be holding onto him for her dear life! :rotfl:

Excellent update. Thanks for the great start to a long day at work! Only 8 days until we leave!!

You're welcome, Jill! :) :)

8 days................:woohoo: Y'all will have so much fun! As hot as it is here at home, can you imagine how hot it's going to be in FL? Sounds like lots of pool time! ;)

Your description of the lady holding onto Kevin has me :rotfl2: this morning!! Like Jackie, I would love to know what she had to say to her hubby after that (did he not ride with her :confused3)
It was pretty funny, Katie. As I mentioned to Jackie in a post above, her husband wound up on the train behind us, so she had to wait for him. We should have stuck around to see what she told him! :rotfl:

Oh what a funny story! We had something similar happen at MGM. In fact, I think I'll have to tell about that on my PTR!
I'll be sure to be looking for that on your PTR, Rebecca! :)

Yes, you do! Hopefully, everyone will continue to read, even though I've given the secret away so quickly in the TR!

He was being pretty brave ---I'm guessing he had the strap around his neck. Do you know that I didn't even realize that he was taking pictures? Too busy screaming, I guess!

You know, I did wonder why she was asking me if it was ok. I thought, Why would I care if you SIT by my husband? Little did I know........................;)

Oh my goodness, at John's "friend" on ToT! :rotfl:

Lisa, you don't like the Nemo show? I love it any time, but I have sat in the back, and I have to agree, that they are terrible seats.

No pictures of the spoonbills doing the deed, but a funny story about it later! :)

Thanks, Sara! :) That's too funny that your dad made a friend on ToT, too!

I can't believe you haven't seen FOTLK, Sara, as many times as you've been to Disney. You make sure you get your entire family over to see it when you're there in a few weeks. You'll love it! :thumbsup2

I did make it to the meet on the 28th! It was fun!

:laughing::rotfl::lmao: "I'm so sorry, Kevin" :lmao::laughing::rotfl:

What a great story!

And yes, I did think you were about to put up a picture of those spoonbills! :lmao:

Sounds like you had a fabulous day at AK!

Oh my goodness that story about the lady holding onto your husband is too darn funny!!! :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: Poor lady and your poor DH!!!! I hope she did give her husband a piece of her mind! Was he trying to torture her?!

I love, love, love both Nemo and FOTLK!!! Both shows are so well done! I can't wait to see them again!!!!

Oh, that poor lady! That is a funny story, though :rotfl:.

Glad you enjoyed Nemo. We haven't seen it yet. I told my dh that we HAVE to go see it when we go back in January. :teeth:
