Which page and post number is the part about "Why Is that lady holding onto my DH?" Thanks

before I start reading, just wanted to say hello and "Can't wait to read all about it." I teach 9th grade algebra so I'm already identifying with you! :thumbsup2

Ok, a little late, but now officially caught up! Fantastic TR so far! I too was chucking to the point of tears about the lady!

Hi Stacey! :welcome: to my trip report---A fellow teacher, and a math one at that! :thumbsup2 I actually will have to teach Alg I to part of my 8th graders this year. I'm a little nervous about that. I wish we wouldn't offer it to 8th graders, but our president wants it offered since the city school offers it. My argument is that our HS is on a block schedule, so kids don't have a problem getting their math credits completed, unlike the public/city school.
*SIGH*---Oh, well, I'll teach the class. (That will only be 4 preps for me! :scared1:)

Thanks, Stacey! :) I'm glad you've joined in to read.

Sunday, May 23---Part 2

When I left off, we were leaving Animal Kingdom that Sunday afternoon. The spoonbills had been engaged in some R-rated activity. Remember that---That information will come in handy later! :thumbsup2

We exited the park and caught a bus back to Beach Club. On the bus ride back, Reid was playing his DS, and this little boy standing near him, kept getting closer, and closer, and closer. Pretty soon, he was leaning over to see the screen. He asked Reid what game he was playing, and shortly after that they were engaged in an animated conversation about Pokémon. We eventually wound up scooting over, so he could sit down by Reid and they could have “game talk.” It was pretty cute.

After getting back to BC, we freshened up. After that we had a short worship service, since we’d missed church that morning. Around 6 p.m., we returned out front to the bus stop to wait for a bus to Magic Kingdom. By the time we rode the bus, went through bag check, and the ticket line, it was around 6:30. After entering the park, we stopped to have pictures made with some friends.

We made our way down Main Street-

A quick time out--- This picture was taken during our first trip to DisneyWorld, in 2001. Elizabeth was 7 and Rachel was 5. :goodvibes

Flash back to the present of this trip, nine years later-

We had a dinner reservation at Crystal Palace for 7:30, so I didn’t want to wander very far. Instead, we walked around the hub, and had several photopass pics taken.

After having a couple of PP pics taken, we just decided to walk over to the Crystal Palace.

IMG_1137.jpg

It was too early to check in, so we just sat outside, people-watched, and rested.

IMG_1162.jpg

While waiting, this mother duck walked out from near Casey’s. She had about 5-6 little ducklings, all walking behind her in a row. They crossed right through the flower garden under this tree-

And then proceeded to walk right down to the water to swim away! It was so cute!

More nature watching as we waited-

Watching other magical things-

Rachel took over the camera for a while, and I will stop here to brag on her. She has developed a real interest in photography, and she seems to really have an eye for it. She may not know all about the technical parts of it yet (She can learn that)-but she seems to have a knack for composing some interesting shots, and that can’t be taught. Here’s one she took that I really like---I love the way she got this shot, way down low, with the flowers in the focus, and the CP in the background.

***Continued in next post

The kids started to get restless a little after 7, so I finally went and checked us in at 7:15. CP was packed---There were no seats on the front porch, and the line to check in went the entire length of the porch. I was given a buzzer, and we were left to wait (some more!).

Around 7:35, our buzzer signaled that our table was ready (the ADR had been for 7:30). We were led to our table and a little anniversary surprise was waiting for us. :lovestruc

We had eaten breakfast here on several occasions, but this was our first time to eat dinner here. We enjoyed the variety of foods on the buffet. I believe this may have been the best meal for Reid. He loved those meatballs on Pooh’s corner. He must have eaten 8-10 of those things! The big kids had fun trying some different foods. Rachel decided to be brave and try clams. (YES, I said brave……..My kids are not very adventurous eaters. She typically eats shrimp or crab claws at the beach---won’t try anything else.)

So, here she is about to try her first clam-

And, here she is after she started chewing----

IMG_1182.jpg

Of course the best part of CP is the characters, and they all stopped by our table.

As we were finishing up our dinner, our server brought us a special anniversary card that had been signed by all the CP friends!

I mentioned at the beginning of this TR, that this was the first time we’d paid for the DDP, so I tried to keep up with the cost of our meals, so I could have a true comparison to what it cost vs. what we would have paid.

By the time we finished with dinner and taking care of the ticket, it was 8:50. We headed out to find an adventure.

UP NEXT: We run into some hometown friends and close down the MK!

Looks like I'm late to the party, but I have read everything today (slow day at work, shhhh...:ssst:) and I wanted to comment on what a lovely family you have. I cannot wait to read more!

Aww, that is so cute about the little boy and your son talking about his video game/Pokemon.

Looks like a great night at CP. We have never eaten there but I bet it's a lot of fun. Can't wait to hear more about the MK!

Rachel's CP/flower pic is good! I like it
We had dinner at CP last summer, they're buffet is one of my favorites. Plus, I love the Winnie the Pooh characters(:

Justin actually skipped 7th grade math, so he took Alg I last year as an 8th grader. He had no problems with it at all, finished the year with a 97% - I think you'll be surprised at how well your 8th graders will do, assuming they are good in math of course........

Great update - I love CP for breakfast or dinner. Pooh and friends are always so much fun!

I think you may be right about Rachel's eye for photography, that was a very nice shot she took :thumbsup2

Time to catch up on what I’ve missed lately.

At least you came to accept that you would not be at the parks as early as would have liked. It sounds like it was a great day at AK. That is so funny how the woman clinged to Kevin like that. It reminds me of Bryan. He swore that all of EE was in the dark until this past trip. He realized he had been riding it with his eyes closed. LOL…Yes, I was certain you were going to show me a pic of animals together. LOL…It must have been mating week a the parks that week. We saw animals mating all over the place.

The little boy on the bus is so cute. Reid sure is really good at making friends.

Great meal at CP. LOL at being adventurous enough to try clams.

That picture taken by Elizabeth is beautiful. She does have a good eye.

Emily did Alg. 1 in 8th grade this past year. I didn't have a problem with it because she did so well in 6th and 7th grade math. Alg. was a different story. It was very hard for her. I do think it was partly the teacher's falt. She had no idea what she was teaching. She taught a lesson wrong and then gave a quiz on it the next day. All the students did bad on it since they did it the way the teacher showed and did bad on the quiz and she wouldn't change the grade or give a make-up or anything. She would get easy math problems wrong when she was teaching in front of the class. The way she taught always made it so diffifuclt and she would use easy problems to teach and then give the harder problems as HW and on tests. Also, I couldn't really help her much because the textbook doesn't show how to do the hard problems either. I called and complained a lot, as well did many other parents but the principal did nothing. Then for the Algebra final, majority of the county got an F on it and nobody did anything about it. Thankfully, after getting Emily a tutor for 4 hours she got a B. It was a high school course and I really feel bad for kids going into high school with bad grades.

Great update! Love the pics at MK! We used to do CP every trips but we've skipped it the last couple of trips.

I took Algebra 1 last year in 8th grade (my teacher was HARD), and now this year I'm doing Geometry with the 10th graders. I'm not sure if I like being a year ahead of a lot of other students in my grade or not...

Great update! That's so cute how the boys were taking about games on the bus! I love the old Main Street pic you have and how you compared it to now! I wish I had some of my old Disney pictures from when I went with my family, but we were never very good about taking care of pictures. :(

I really like Rachel's shot of CP with the flowers, very pretty! I would never have thought of that! CP is such a pretty building! Dinner there sounds like it would be good, I would like to try it sometime, but I love breakfast soooo much there I don't think I could bring myself to do it yet! The characters pictures are adorable too! :cool1:

I love the Dining Plan! It seems like it's so much extra $$$ when you first book your trip, but it's definitely worth it while you are there! :)

great update michelle!! love all the pics of your arrival at MK...especially that flash back and flash forward pic of the girls! too cute! Can't wait to see your PP pics! And you're right, Rachel does have an eye for photography...that's a great pic! Loving all the pics from CP...we didn't have dinner there...how was the food?? Love the pics with the characters and how cute they gave you folks those little surprises for your anniversary! Can't wait to see what's up next!!

Love those pictures of your girls walking down Main St. together!

I wish I'd thought to take a picture of our receipts! I saved them to do the comparison, too, only all of them have $0s! :scared1: It was crazy, but I know if we'd paid OOP for all those meals that we'd have spent more than we did on the DDP.

I love that anniversary card and the pic of you guys holding it up!

I  Pooh!
