newbie to WDW... planning to do dessert party for DW birthday. Is it worth it (in particular to watch fireworks)

Depends on who you ask!! IMO - No!

I don't like viewing the fireworks from there as you really can't see them that well - we're spoiled 'front & center' of castle viewing only!

As for the desserts 'worth' - again no! But there are a lot of folks that will tell you it's all the greatest! Again, the 'worth' is up to each person.

Value is not always easy to gauge.

I have blood-sugar issues - tough for me to eat and drink $70 in 2-hours.

Star Wars seems to have the best value, for no other reason than the viewing spot is perfect.

Any add-on can be fun. But value is not easy to gauge.

We prefer the Dining Packages for 'free' tickets to Fantasmic! and River of Lights for our next vacation.

But if/when my daughter is old/mature enough, we'll do some of those other add-on experiences.

This is why we book the MK party with Plaza Garden viewing. It's cheaper than the terrace party and you get a better view.

We did it once...it was fun...it was a very splurgey trip and we are glad we did it, but I don't think it was a very good value.

Well. Except that I don't care all that much about the fireworks and got to sit in a chair and relax a bit while my kids watched at the rail.

From a value standpoint it is not as "worth it" as it used to be. When we first did it the cost was only $20 a person and I was fine with that. At $50 or more per person it is not a good value at all. The desserts aren't great, and you don't have the best view from the terrace area. If I were to do it again I'd book the plaza garden one since I think the view would be better.

We really like two of the dessert parties. The reserved area for the fireworks for my DH is priceless. He does not handle heavy crowds at MK well, we seem to have bad experiences while getting a spot and waiting (people showing up last minute right in front of you, being pushed, I got ran into by a stroller and took out a chunk of my skin around my ankle). We try to avoid MK fireworks unless we are watching from a party viewing space or from the Poly. The food and desserts are wonderful, but if you think of the cost of the deserts by it's self than it's not a good value. For us it's all about the reserved space and enjoying ourselves.

Starwars party is the same as above, you get a great place to watch the show and good food, deserts and alcoholic drinks!

Illuminations Desert party for us is something we need to do, there are so many places to watch Illuminations that are not crowded. We just grab a drink and watch from an uncrowded spot.

To continue on with this thread, does anyone know when the Star Wars dessert party might be released for May? I think my family would enjoy this, but it's only released through the end of April. I'd like to see the schedule ASAP as we're only doing the 4 parks in 4 days (no park hopper) so I'd like to know if I need to change fastpasses for other days if the party won't be available the night we're planning on being there.

@MollaDoodle I was able to book an April 2nd Star Wars dessert party on February 11th. I kept checking daily at 55 days out and it wasn't showing until then.

Totally agree here. At $50+ per person, sorry but no way. Not worth it. I did wishes once...never again. Definitely not a good value at that price. And I love dessert! For the amount of money you'd spend on the dessert party, your better of saving it for something else. Like a nice dinner or souvenirs.

Not worth it at all. We did it once when it was only $25 and even that seemed a little steep for what you got. Basic bite sized deserts that are "okay" at best. The view wasn't any better than if we had seeked out a last minute spot ourselves. I had fun with my family, but with the prices what they are now....not a chance.

It's worth it just for the viewing spot at MK and HS.
That's essentially what you are paying for in my opinion. The desserts are just meh (and I don't even like desserts). So basically $60 for a place to watch the fireworks. Whether it is "worth it" will be up to each individual, but it is probably more "worth it" when there's crazy crowds than not.

I agree. I wasted money there last night. I would not recommend to anyone unless they revamp the "party."

It isn't Disney's fault you didn't read a description or review of what you were booking before you booked.

IMO, value is tough to gauge. For us, it isn't about the desserts. It's more about showing up 5 minutes before the fireworks start and having a table and a cup of coffee to sit and enjoy the fireworks, out of the chaos. For that convenience, it's a good "value" for us. But if you're asking if some dessert and cheese are worth that price tag, then I'd say no.

I'm not really a dessert person, but we enjoyed the MK dessert party. I'm glad we did it, but not entirely sure we will do it again. It's nice to know what your vantage point for the fireworks will be but not "worth it" in the monetary sense.
