I can't stay on today - it is my and Skunka's anniversary. We are taking Matt to see Narnia and then our friends will watch him while we head out to dinner. See you all later tonight or tomorrow!!

Denise - good luck with the MIL. I'm fortunate not to have to deal with things like that. :wizard:

Happy Anniversary.

Denise - I think I'd tell her if she can't treat their mother with respect and common courtesy, then she can't see the kids. They don't need to hear all of this about their mother. You're such a great mother that nothing should tarnish your relationship with your kids.

I totally agree! You are a great mother, and your kids don't need to hear any negativity about you!

My MIL is bad, but not anywhere near as vindictive as yours. My MIL told DH to divorce me after we had been married for a year with no sign of children. DH told her to get her nose out of our business and keep it out. We were on her bad list for many months. Once I finally did have children, she tried to blame her bad behavior on the self-medicating she was doing. Now, we've called an uneasy truce. I'm never really comfortable with her, though.

:grouphug: and :wizard: on your visit today!

Paul, this is for you! I just have to say that my DH has been really good this year at picking out my gifts. Usually he's really bad, but this year was an anomoly. He got me a perfume sampler that has all my favorite fragrances, a beautiful gold tennis bracelet, a new set of kitchen knives (our old ones were 16 years old and not sharp at all), and a George Foreman Grill. All things that were on my list! I didn't even know he was listening.

As for me, I always worry about what to get DH, as he usually doesn't say what he wants, and then when he sees what I got him, he smiles and then puts said gift away, never to be seen again. Well, a couple of years ago I had a brainstorm. He LOVES to hunt! So, I always get him his combination fishing/hunting license for the next year. He always uses it, and I know he loves it! I stuff his stocking with hand warmers, fishing lures and gift certificates to Cabela's. This year I also got him an emergency radio and flashlights for our emergency survival kits.

All in all, I think we both scored!

OK, Glynis, let's keep it clean. (Yeah, my mind is in the gutter.)

My DH did really well, too. He showed me up, which is the usual. I think I did great on gifts for him and then he goes overboard on me. But it's all good stuff, so I can't really complain. The kids were happy with their haul, too.

Denise, here's some :grouphug: to help you through your visit!

Paul and Marti, Happy Anniversary!

Clare, Yay! I'm so glad you recovered your pictures. :cheer2:

Jennifer, Hope you're having a better day...no meltdowns! :grouphug:

And just so you all know, I earned household bragging rights back last night by beating Kevin 2-0 (best of 3) at Scene It (movie version). :cheer2:

Amy :)

Is salad healthy if you pour so much dressing on it, you can't really see the ingredients? :rotfl2:

Hey, it's gotta be more healthy than Chick-fil-a, right?!!

Amy :)

What's everybody doing for New Year's?

We're having some friends over. We figured we wanted to socialize, but didn't want to deal with crowds, etc. plus Alyssa gets to stay on her own turf. We'll probably play games and share Disney trip pictures.

We also plan to graze on appetizers all night. Anyone have any good recipes for appetizers that are still good at room temperature?

Amy :)

My DBIL and his family gave that game to us as a family gift this year. I played it with my two boys last night but of course I won. I have a few more years on them......of course I was using the kids cards......shhhhh....don't tell them.

I won't tell on you Lynn!

We got the TV version and the movie version for Christmas(of course, we already had the Disney version!), but I don't think either game has kids' cards. Do you buy those separately? (Not that we need them for awhile, but just in case, guests want to play)

Amy :)

So, is a runny nose corelated to a runny diaper? Man, Alyssa keeps having these runny explosions (5-6 times a day) and she's got a bad diaper rash now too. She's been a really picky eater lately, but any advice on what I can feed her to solidify things?

Sorry so gross,
Amy :)

With the kids having little ones, and they go to bed early, it seems that I would be staying home since DH always has a concert that evening. He plays in a local concert/marching band. But this time I get to be Tony the Tiger again!!! At least the suit will keep me warm :rotfl:

This is why I don't talk to my MIL....she's called me not so nice names in FRONT of my children. She is definitely a women of many changing faces...never know which one is going to come out. My IL's don't have a lot to do with my children as they play favorites and my husband is low man on that totem pole. It is their loss not mine, because my girls are awesome and I am biased but not that much :rotfl:

So I will have you in my thoughts and prayers Denise!!

Thanks! I did buy those today. Also bought some yogurt, since that seems to help "cure" her diaper rash.

I don't like you in invisible mode.

How fun! You'll have to post more pictures!

Christopher used to get really bad diaper rashes whenever he had oranges, tomato based products, or took antibiotics. Our pediatrician recommended this powder stuff called Domeboro (I think that's how it's spelled). You mix it with water and soak a rag or gauze in it, then you put it in the diaper for about 15-20 minutes. It worked wonders for him. Our pharmacy kept it behind the counter.

Mine is Disney "Scene It" with a DVD movie to play along with it.....

Runny nose defenitely causes the runny diapers and diaper rash. I agree on the bananas and yogurt......try those cheese sticks also or any cheese products. For the diaper rash I always used corn starch.....even now when my boys get "jock rash" from sweating I keep a kitchen size box of straight corn starch in the bathroom to use on it.
