Kate - you are one funny lady... even when I'm in a bad mood you make me laugh!!

Denise - sending you hugs!!!!!

My MIL might drive me crazy but she is really a wonderful person! I can't imagine dealing with that!

You FORGOT to tell her you were getting married? What's up with that - how STUPID does she think people are? Did you not send out invitations - or did you just send them to everyone but her? ;)

We are supposed to go to B'ham, AL tomorrow to see them, and DH and I are literally sick over this.
I am so sorry. Come see me and my family instead; we're 20 minutes south of Bham. Seriously, though, I work off of 280 in Bham; want to do lunch just so you can escape for a few minutes? PM me if you think you can get away.

My in-laws are coming tomorrow afternoon or I'd offer to meet up for dinner instead. Unlike you, I'm actually looking forward to seeing them. DH actually did "marry his mother;" we like many of the same things from hobbies to vacation spots (DVC all the way) to what we order in restaurants. It's almost scary!

Glynis, if you haven't seen this site, they have lots of ideas!
http://www.birthdaypartyideas.com/html/fairy.html

Thanks. I found this yesterday when I googled "fairy birthday party". It looks like it has some fun stuff. I ought to be able to come up with something for a whole bunch of 8 year old girls. Since I also "believe" in fairies, it should be a fun day.

Thanks for the PD everyone - it looks like I managed to rescue all of the photos... phew!!

Now I'm sending it all onto Denise for her trip to the MIL's tomorrow :0)

I amso glad you got them back!! I would have been a wreck!

I can't stay on today - it is my and Skunka's anniversary. We are taking Matt to see Narnia and then our friends will watch him while we head out to dinner. See you all later tonight or tomorrow!!

Denise - good luck with the MIL. I'm fortunate not to have to deal with things like that. :wizard:

My BIL lives in Chelsea, so we may escape there. I'm hoping we go to Lloyds for dinner. thanks for the offer. If you see a big bomb go off, you'll know it's us!

Well, I hope the bomb doesn't go off at Lloyds. I'm in the office park across the street from it!

Make sure you take photos to show us all - and as for other ideas... well you have to get Tinkerbelle in there somewhere :goodvibes

I'll try to get Tink in, but DD is really more into the flower fairies by Cecily Mary Baker (I think that's her name). I'm cross stitching a couple of the fairies for her to hang in her room. We're not going to have her party till Spring, so I've got some time to plan.

We're definitely going to do fairy cakes, though. I have a mini muffin tin, and I think I'll make a whole bunch of mini cupcakes and let the girls decorate those for one of the activities. We're also going to make fairy dust. My SIL is coming to teach them how to weave daisy chains, so that should be fun. Then I'll try to come up with a luncheon idea for the little girls involving "tea" and fairy cakes. DD's favorite drink is hot Ribena, so we'll serve that in her mini tea set.

Even though the pary isn't for quite a while, I like to plan and plan things out. It gives me something to look forward to. I welcome any and all suggestions.

Denise - I think I'd tell her if she can't treat their mother with respect and common courtesy, then she can't see the kids. They don't need to hear all of this about their mother. You're such a great mother that nothing should tarnish your relationship with your kids.

I had a girlfriend in college whose MIL disapproved of her b/c she was Jewish - we had no idea if the MIL would show at the wedding or not - she did - late for pictures and refused to be in any with the bride - like when they said it was time for the groom's family picture and abotu 50 people went in the shot - she made the bride get out of the shot - she did b/c she was pissed and left - spent the night in the bride's room sobbing while her groom yelled at her that he had spent $5000 on the GD reception and she better get out there - talk about an awkward wedding to be a bridesmaid - our DH's just stood around watching the whole thing in horror and drinking heavily!!
