I'm working at the restaurant on New Year's Eve. Cocktail waitress :cool1: .. Should be a good tip night. I'll be out of there by 10 PM as the restaurant closes at 9:30 PM. I'll come home for food and games with my family and we'll ring in the New Year together. I can't think of a more perfect way to end one year and welcome another.

Deb

That sounds ideal! That's great that the restaurant closes at a decent hour! I hope all your patrons are very generous too! :wizard:

Amy - I always used vaseline on my kids' bottoms. It forms a barrier so liquids run off and can't burn the tender skin. Neither one ever had a diaper rash!

Wow, no diaper rash! That's awesome. We used to use vaseline, but once Alyssa started eating solids, it didn't seem to protect her enough, so we switched to Balmex. Now, I really have to watch her acidic food intake (ketchup!), but I know this time it's related to her runny nose.

I love the shower curtain idea Babytrees!

Amy :)

We don't really have firm plans yet - but we will not be going out partying! It's just way to packed and way too expensive - too much hype for one night of the year. We'll probably go watch Kong at the cinema and then come home for pizzas and a board game in front of whatever movies are on TV that night... that's if I stay awake past 10.30pm :rolleyes1

Can you tell that Alyssa is taking a nice long nap today, and I don't feel like cleaning or doing anything else (um, thank you notes)?!!

I have done a load of laundry amongst all my posts though. :teeth:

I have a recipe for a yummy low carb rasberry chocolate mousse. It is my favorite low carb dessert. I also have a recipe for a low carb frozen treat that looks like hershey's kisses. I'll dig them out (I'll need them next week anyway :goodvibes ) and post tonight.

Deb

Those both sound like heaven! I made a gingerbread trifle for Christmas day, and it was so hard to watch my family eating it, and not be able to have a bite. I'm really craving something sweet right about now. DH usually stuffs my stocking with orange sticks and other chocolates, so it's been really difficult.

Glynis, here's a link to all kinds of fairy party ideas.

Thanks. I can't wait to start looking through the site. I love planning birthday parties, and with a sister who decorates cakes, I know at least that part of the party will be perfect. For the rest, I plan and then let the chips fall where they may.

Sounds like us the last couple of years. Last year, DD 8 and DS 6 were determined to stay up until midnight. Finally, at 11:00, they were sound asleep on the floor. I quickly moved the clocks forward, woke them up and we celebrated then. Don't tell them they didn't make it to midnight. They've been bragging to all their friends for a whole year about it. I, for one, was glad that they went to bed earlier than midnight. We have "baby New Year" visit the kids and leave them a small gift to welcome them to the new year, so it was nice to have them asleep so I could get that done and go to bed myself.

DH and I were discussing New Year's last night

decided we would do what we always do -

we will say we want to go out - debate about it until it is too late

we will get a video -I will turn it off and wake him up at 11:58 - we'll kiss say happy new year and he will be back asleep at 12:01 :rotfl:

what a romantic anniversary!!!

Whenever I try to watch my sweets, I get a piece of chocolate from my Suzanne Somers SomerSweet box. They taste just like Belgian chocolates, you only need one to satisfy you, and they have NO processed sugar in them.

I have a lot of her products when I am trying to lose some pounds and they work every time. They keep you from eating "naughty" but you never feel like you are dieting. You can get her products at www.suzannesomers.com or through the Home Shopping Network ( www.hsn.com ).

Good luck! I am a sweet-a-holic so I definitely have honed in on this one! She has all sorts of wonderful products that contain no processed sugars. And all of the candies that I have tried so far have been superior!

Also -- because her chocolates are made with a substance that is part fiber, be aware! If you eat too much, my oh my, your tummy will gurgle and do some ugly things! Go light at first. You will not need a lot to satisfy you.

I also buy her SomerSweet sugar so I can make my own Kool-Aid. Yum! :flower:

I'm going to have to check into this! I wonder if it's good for gastric bypass patients? That would be really good. I have tried the Russell Stover low carb chocolates (pre-surgery) and loved those, too. I should have thought about getting some to stuff my stocking with. Oh well, guess I'll have to take a trip to the store.

Once on the suzannesomers.com website, you can actually e-mail them with your gastric bypass question. They respond very fast and I find them to be quite informative. Good luck! :flower:

We also give the kids ornaments every year. When my two oldest moved out I gave them their ornaments they had received thru the years. I became their stepmom when they were 6 and 8 so it was a nice collection. They love it!!!

Now my two boys also look forward to putting their ornaments on the tree each year. I also put the year on the ornament somewhere with a black perm marker. This year Alex received "THE BELL" from Polar Express Movie.....and Austin received a pretty ball ornament from the move NARNIA. My husband and I also exchange ornaments. I give him every year a picture ornament with a picture of the kids that I took sometime during the year.

I love traditions!!!

Lynn
We do the same thing with our kids, and mine both got the Polar Express one as well. I want to take them and have their names engraved on them. I remember my first Christmas living on my own and having to go out and buy a bunch of inexpensive crappy ornaments just so I could have something to put on a tree. This way when my children move out, they will have a ready-made ornament collection!

Abi didn't have any diaper rashes either and I never put stuff on the butt until a rash formed....I didn't really realize what a luxury that was I guess!!

I am surprised I don't have a nudist couch potato for a 13 yo because I let Cassidy run around naked(in the house!!) when she had the chicken pox in the middle of the summer and watch lots of tv!!
