When I made them a few years ago, one of the women in my office who doesn't drink had about 9 of them at 9:00 a.m.!! She got to feeling pretty good. Later she said "You didn't tell me there was real rum in them!" I guess she thought it was just rum flavoring. Anyway, she really loves them and waits for me to bring them in each year.

Debbie, what a cute story about your dog. However, you were very lucky! The ones I make are made with chocolate chips, which are very poisonous to dogs!

YIKES!

A few years ago my yorkie (passed away since then, but NOT due to this story!) dug through a grocery sack that I had brought in and found a chocolate candy bar. He then proceeded to eat the entire thing! I found the wrapper in the other room and a big smile on his face. :confused3

I immediately called the emergency vet clinic and told them what he had eaten and his weight. Fortunately it was not enough to phase him. The vet did say he might get sick from it. Never happened! The little stinker actually wanted more. NO WAY! :earboy2:

Fur children . . . gotta love 'em! :dog2: :dog: :pug:

It looks like a quiet group around here. I only had about 12 pages to catch up on from 2 days.

Denise - sorry you are all still on the sick side. Did BK end up going to the Dr? I remember you said something about the meds making her sick, so I am guessing she is now on antibiotics? Hope everyone gets better before the big guy comes to visit. The house looks great (as usual).

Marti - tell Matt - Good Job! He must work very hard to have earned all those belts. You must have worked very hard driving him to all his lessons!

Steffy - glad you have enjoyed your ornaments. As to your question on the PM - I don't remember where the Blue Fairy ornament came from. Sorry. We probably have more than 500+ Disney ornaments, and I remember where most were purchased, but I am sorry to say I don't remember that one. If you post a picture of it on your tree (hint, hint), it might help jog my memory.

Elin - sorry I missed you leaving. Have a great trip.

Legalslave - glad you had a good time. Let us know when your trip report is posted.

Update for my computer: It is still in data recovery mode. My DM has let us borrow her laptop (that she never uses). I installed my extra wi-fi card today so I am once again operational. DH has figured out how to solve the problem. Just buy a new laptop. Sure babe, no problem. I loved my HP Pavilion, it was considered a desktop replacement with a 17" screen and had a built in number pad on the keyboard. Since I do accounting work, it was awesome, but they are a little pricey. DH thinks I should get a new one and have the old one fixed for DS, who seems to be doing a ton of homework on the computer. I think I will first try to find someone to fix the old one. Then we'll see.

DH has taken the kids to see Chronicles of Narnia. DS couldn't believe I wasn't going.

What should I do with my time? Something productive - clean, laundry, cook, Christmas cards?

Something fun - DIS, read a book, take a nap?

He has been instructed to pick me up if we go for pizza for dinner.

Oh well, I'll stick to DISing for now, then I'll clean (maybe).

Our little doxie/beagle mix did that once on a road trip. We were eating and left him in the van (middle of November so not to hot or cold). When we came out, he had eaten an entire pan of brownies and part of a bag of Hershey kisses. We were a little scared of what was to come during the last 3 hours of our drive, but all turned out okay.

I may have to try the mice next year!!
They sound adorable and the reindeer are really easy and the kids love making those!!

I think my mom still has some of the candy cane mice on her tree. I'll try to remember to take a picture and post for you.

My vet says that it takes a lot of chocolate to harm a dog. He says that onions are much more deadly. I never had heard that onions were harmful, but they apparently are very harmful.

My day started off ok, got to sleep in and then headed out to shop. Even the shopping went well and I think I've pretty much finished my Christmas shopping. That's when the day turned for the worse. I was checking out of the last store, planning to go home and wrap. DH called and told me that Colby (ds3) had cut his face while riding the snowmobile with dh. It was bad enough that he thought we should take him to the ER. He required 5 stitches. We had to wait nearly 2 hours to be seen, then had to physically hold him down while they numbed the area and did the stitches. He has been out of it since. He is just laying around. The area of his face (cheek area to the left of his mouth) is really swollen as is his lip. It seemed to swell after all the numbing shots (and there were tons). He is drooling all over himself. Poor little guy. It was such a freak accident. They were riding on our lawn and hit a little bump. He slid forward and hit his cheek on the toggle switch for the handwarmers. They hadn't been outside for more than 10 minutes. We ride all winter long (we all wear helmets on the trails) and we have never gotten hurt. DH didn't put his helmet on as they were staying on the lawn and not riding hard or fast. Now we know that we must all wear helmets all the time. He in now on antibiotic 3 times a day and we have to go back in 2 days for a suture check and on Friday to have them removed. Looks like my week just got a little busier.

Oh, poor Colby! Hugs to him to get well soon!

Just got home from the ER with Brantley-Kate. She is still vomiting and having diarrhea. Gave her an IV and Phenergan. Also changed the antibiotic for her sinus infection and did breathing treatments. Poor thing has lost 4 pounds this week. Gotta go, she's sick again.

Thanks for taking the time to wish Colby well. I'm sure that he'll be fine so here some :wizard: :wizard: and lots of :grouphug: :grouphug: for BK. It's so hard when they are that sick. Do they think she's got a virus or is it just the infection that is getting the best of her? I wish I could help.

Deb

Thanks to you all for your well wishes. He is sleeping peacefully on the couch. I'm taking him to bed with me tonight just in case he needs something during the night.
