I have to work too. :guilty:I volunteered so that someone else could be off that would have family coming to town. I am usually off Christmas eve, Christmas day, and the day after Christmas because I do work thankgiving. It is so nice to be good friends with the boss, that is also the only reason I get to go to WDW this Dec. Where I work taking off in Dec. is a big no no, but he said by the time anyone notices it will be to late to do anything about it. :goodvibes

My own little drama here... I've got to work on Thanksgiving :guilty: and the DH and Children were going to my mom's. Mom called last night. Both my parents have the flu and Thanksgiving is off! So it looks like a very nontraditional feast at my house. (Pizza, anyone?) Just goes to show you...always have a backup turkey!!!!

PNO4TE - final question!! (I think)

Olive oil, or something different?

Sorry sorry

I'm sure Elin will answer, too, but I would use an oil with a little lighter taste (and a bit less expensive) than olive oil. I don't know what your choices are in the UK, but I always use canola oil for this type of recipe. We also have "vegetable oil" which is a mix of oils and is also called salad oil, and I think you can still buy corn oil. I must admit, I don't even look at the oils much. I know that I always get canola for cooking.

Hope this was a somewhat helpful answer.

A BIG thank you to all who sent good wishes yesterday to my husband on his job interview. He is cautiously optimistic that it went well, but because of the holiday it may be a while before he hears if he will go back for another interview. If this job isn't the right one, or they don't pick him, we'll still be thankful he has a job. It makes me really sad because I can tell a huge difference in him since the job change, and I really want him to be happy. He is such a great husband!

Thanks again, and have a great day!

I just want to say thank you to everyone that replied to my questions regarding the crocs and the Floam. I will check out the crocs in person at a local store. I'm a little apprehensive on them.

I will also try AC Moore for the Floam first and if they don't have it, I will order from Ebay and avoid mail order. Thanks, Kate. You must be the queen of ebay too.

DisneyEveryYear - It looks like you all had a great trip. Your pictures and your shirts are wonderful.

I am going to Michaels tomorrow, if you would like me to check there. I would be glad to buy it and ship it to you if you want, and if they have it.

Welcome home! Our tie-dyes also got lots of attention. Did yours have a black Mickey head in the middle? If so, my mom saw you all when we were separated one day. Sorry I missed you.

I am. My parents are coming for the first time. I'm feeling quite a bit of pressure, as my father is pretty hard to please with his turkey. However, he really doesn't have much room to talk. 2 years ago we went to their house, and the turkey looked gorgeous! Until you cut into it. The top half was cooked, but the bottom half was raw. I mean RAW! Then, the same year at Christmas, he did another turkey. Picture the turkey from "Christmas Vacation." That's exactly what happened. He cut into it, and there was nothing but air under the skin. The meat was so dried out it had shrivelled away. Then last year, at Thanksgiving, another half raw turkey. I figure that if my turkey is at least cooked all the way through, I'm beating his average.

I guess a lot of the pressure I'm feeling comes from the fact that I won't be able to eat much of the dinner. I'm doing ALL the cooking, but won't be able to eat more than 3 Tbs. of turkey and 1 Tbs. of yams. Oh well. I'm making a sugar free pumpkin pie for dessert since mom is a diabetic, so at least I'll be able to scrape a bite of filling to taste. Sometimes I wonder what I did to myself, having the gastric bypass. Then I look in the mirror and remember. I'm 26 pounds down in 3 weeks. Not too shabby!

I imagine this might be a hard time of year - but we are all here to support you and 26 pounds!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Have you thought about ordering a meal from your local supermarket - that's what I did when I had Thanksgiving once - it worked out great - no stress on me!!!

We're going to my grandmother's house. She's 82. It'll be us, my parents, DH's parents, my Brother and SIL (DH's Brother and SIL are no-shows and another long story). We're actually going out to a hotel for a nice buffet on Thursday. Otherwise my g'ma would have tried to cook all that stuff. We're bring a small turkey and dressing for sandwiches on Friday. I'm excited. We usually host everyone here, but with us going to WDW, all our family figured we wouldn't want the extra hassle of company and the associated clean-up.

Then we come home and leave on Tuesday!

26 pounds is amazing! And you'll get to eat again, but I know it's hard now. It will so be worth all the trouble, though. Take small nibbles, and just think about how much better you'll feel, how you'll be around for your kids and grandkids. You have a completely new lease on life! Congrats. I'm proud of you.

Hi all,
I set up a photobucker account so you could see the pictures of me as Tony The Tiger and also one with my one sister Cheryl and I with Devine.
http://photobucket.com/albums/c302/tinker1bell/
I now have such respect of anyone who dons the costume of ANY character. I had the chance to dress up as Tony the Tiger. The place that I work for sponsors Lancaster Night Out for New Years Eve. Kelloggs, one of the sponsors was going to have Tony the Tiger help to unveil the button design and also walk around, interact with the children and basically have a little fun. The one picture is Tony and Cylo, who is the mascot for our local baseball team (The Barnstormers) actually unveiling the design. The other one is me with my handler Bonnie. She would let me know anytime I needed to watch out for anyone coming in for a hug or picture.
I am about 5' 2 3/4" tall and so is Bonnie, so you can see how tall I ended up to be in character.

So here I am a grandmother of 55 dressing up as Tony. I tend to have heat flashes, (private summers) so my first concern was how long I would last in the costume. Luckily Bonnie had it in her car overnight so I passed the first hurdle. Basically I just stood there and she dressed me. It is like putting on a fat suit. Tony needs muscle so I put on pants with padding on the thighs and calves. Then I put on the upper body. Now I really was looking buff. At that point I should have taken a picture of me so you could see what is under a given character. She then proceeds to put the costume on me pulling and stretching and I am just standing there having her dress me like a two year old in their snow suit :rotfl: I could not take a picture of me in just the body part because of restrictions, so ya'll gotta believe that is me in that suit. The head part is neat. It has a football type helmet inside so once I am strapped in that, the head stays pretty stable. Where the mouth is, that is where I look out. So depth preception is very limited. After an hour I was done, needed to get that head off. If I had had an ice pack on my neck, I could have lasted longer.
I only was called Tigger once, had my tail pulled a few times and I only scared one child. But I would do it again in a heartbeat. It was weird to be quiet and just interact with the people. You have to notice everything about who you are standing in front of, and go with what you see.
Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Terry (The Tiger)

Very Cool. I can tell everyone that I personally know Tony the Tiger. :cheer2:
Many Many years ago when I worked for our local movie theater I got to dress up as Snow White. It was a promo for the Disney movie being re released. It was really cool having all the kids run up and hug me. If I come across the photos I will post someday.
