Disney dangled the visual weinee & Mickeystoontown gobbled it up! 10/26

Your dinner looked great! I'm not a steak eater, but John's pasta looked amazing. I may have to get that next month...

And, I'm getting that turtle cheesecake. For sure!

What a grump that lady was! Seriously, who has time to be grumpy at Disney?

Good grief woman, i take a break from my puter for a day (due to my stupid "mouse hand" from actually WORKING -- don't get paid but i do need to keep on top of a few things) and I'm 4 pages behind :scared: I actually had to take notes so i could comment on my Fav things!!

Wooden spoon: just hearing that phrase still makes me quiver -- that was Mom's "weapon of choice" on our butts when we got out of line, i don't ever remember her using it but she would stand there and smack her hand repeatedly with that scary thing whilst yelling!! :scared1: I don't even OWN one!!!

Cotton tree: the house we lived in when our kids were little had a bush that was covered in pink fuzzy balls in the spring. Our daughter christened it "the Cotton-Candy Bush" and cried when we didn't dig it up to bring with us :rotfl2:

Crusty Rolls: what the heck gives with those things?? There is a chain in Canada, "Swiss Chalet", known for chicken and let me tell you , you could take home their buns and use them for paper weights!! It just adds to my dislike of the place since poultry and I do NOT play well together :rolleyes1 Rest of the family LOVES it so when i break down and agree to go they are in the car before i have my shoes on :rotfl2:

Have a great weekend!!

I love hearing about other people's experiences at Coral Reef. I doubt we ever make it there. DH is allergic to shellfish and is very cautious about eating at seafood places. And, while I like me a good piece of fish occasionally, the whole aquarium thing doesn't thrill me enough to try it there. I'm one of those weird people who do not like aquariums - don't hate them, just don't see the thrill at looking at a whole bunch of fish (or fish-like mammals) swimming around.

And the grumpy chick - DH and I would have had a whole scenario and possibly some fun at her expense. While I understand how a person could be grumpy at WDW (Been there, Done That) why would you continue to show it while surrounded by your family, who is obviously having a pretty good time? I've actually had to give myself a stern talking to so that my grumpy did not ruin an entire evening, even though it was just DH and I. Seriously, took myself into the bathroom and told myself to shape up or ship out.

Dern Security...don't they need a coffee break so you could get a glimpse at least?

We had the same situation with the manatees too...and Claire also stated it was so cute they were hugging....and if those are 2 boys....um they don't behave that way! But I think animals feel frisky with the same sex too. I know our cows are all girls, but when in heat.....they are quite frisky with each other. :lmao:

Dinner looks fabulous. We have still not made it there...another on my bucket list. Epcot has so many places I want to try and home to one of my favorites...Via Napoli, so it's so hard to chose where to go.

Via Napoli is one of our favorite restaurants in all of Walt Disney World. Coral Reef has never let us down yet but we may try another restaurant next trip. I say that then we'll probably make another ADR there.

I am always tempted whenever I see one of your reviews of the Coral Reef. It has been a few years since we have been there, but it used to be a must-do. I think main reason we stopped is that we often found service slow- too much park time. But the food was always good.

I try to time our ADRs for dinner time so that we won't miss too much in the park. I actually like the new FP system. Now, I know what we'll be doing and it's easier to plan our dinners.

Your meals all looked excellent and you are correct- the turtle cheesecake was beyond cute! (But never too cute to consume)

And you had dinner & a show. People watching is just the best bargain in entertainment!

:lmao:

The turtle cheesecake was sooooo good. I am a people watcher anyway and this lady was in my line of vision so it was hard not to see her acting like a snot.

Yummmmmm now I know what to order if we go to the Coral Reef, that turtle cheesecake looks delicious !

Everything was very good and the turtle cheesecake was a great way to end the meal.

Those steaks looks so nice & big! And the lobster pasta sounds delicious!

But that turtle cheesecake.....sooooo cute!!

Glad y'all had a nice dinner!

Everything was very good. There doesn't look like there's much pasta on John's dish but it was a lot.

Yum, your dinners looked good! We ate at the Coral Reef on our honeymoon 11 years ago, I am hoping to go back when we don't have to hit all the character meals for our kiddos.

I remember those "gotta do" character meals. I bet that the kids would enjoy Coral Reef though. There's definitely enough going on in the aquarium to keep them interested.

I got the same exact meal when I was there in May! I too enjoyed my food, but that turtle cheesecake was by far the best dessert I had the entire trip. I loved the way they made it look like a turtle, and every bite and ingredient in it was divine.

Great minds think alike! The turtle cheesecake was one of my favorite desserts this trip.

A real life cotton tree! Who knew. I can't wait to share that with my mom. She won't believe me. :rotfl:

Your dinner looked amazing. I have not eaten at the Coral Reef in over 20 years. It looks like I might just have to rethink that! The turtle was so cute. :goodvibes

I know...who would have thunk it?

The meal was really delicious and the cheesecake was one of my favorites.

I LOVE your pictures at Coral Reef! Now why did I not think of taking one of the menu. That was a cool idea! I am learning as I go. I think your turtle cheese cake picture is the best! The bailey's drink looks yummy!!!!

Loved the review of Coral Reef! I will definitely have to try that cheesecake in November!!

You are so right about that cheesecake, it was so cute. It actually caused me to take a look at the cheesecakes when I was in the store earlier but they didn't look near as cute and we already have cupcakes and ice cream at home so I passed. Now, if they had one shaped like a turtle it definitely would have come home with me. Your meal looked really good. I've never eaten at Coral Reef, the mixed reviews have just caused me to go with other places.

Can't wait to see what's next.

Finally all caught up! My DH and I had a large computer issue (old computer full of viruses, got a new computer and it wouldn't turn on after 2 days...UGH!!! New computer on Thursday...YEAH!!! and it's still working!) I left off on page 36 and just got done with this page! I just love how you name the installments and your adventures are great. Our DD is now 30 and lost her love of Disney at 18. Disney is the ONLY vacation destination for my DH, no cruise either! Glad everything is going OK with your mom. Got my back sac out that you made me last year, our trip is in 28 days. Think I'm rushing things???:rotfl2:

Lisa, I'm interested in your Disney backsacks. Can you send me the link? I'd appreciate it.

coral reef has gotten poor reviews lately, and I am SO happy to hear your good review.! I have always loved it.. we have eate ther for lunch only.. a few times.

I jsut am not happy that they took awasy the blackened catfish.. I LOVED! that! I was hesitant to order a steak at a seafood restaurant, but your steaks look great!

I just wish coral reef would have more seafood options...given the theme..

This has got to be the cutest dessert EVER! OMG! I totally want that!

Your dinner looks and sounds amazing. So glad everyone enjoyed it, even Hunter who had to be force fed the chocolate cake.

I would have totally noticed the dynamics at that table too. I can't help it. I always notice stuff like that. It drives my family crazy but that's just the way I am.

Fun update!

I loved this update! DD and I are doing Coral Reef on our Epcot day and I cannot wait to try it. It will be our first time eating there :) Everything you had looked really good. I know DD will get that steak with the fries just like Hunter. Don't try to give that girl mashed potatoes!

I tend to decide what I want to eat before we go to WDW also. It just makes things so much easier. :rotfl2:

It does make it easier. Every year, I print out the menus and make the family look at them so we can decide which restaurants to book. I don't want it to be on my head if they end up not liking it. ;)

P....oops...whooped. Okay this made me laugh! And seriously, it's something that just drives me crazy. She sounds like such a treat to be around!

She didn't do a gosh darn thing the whole time except tend to her ownself. The poor guy did it all.

You are too funny with the cotton tree. I am going to assume since you are all alive and well it wasn't poison and you all survived the ordeal. Did you ever plant it when you got home? Your dinner looks like it was great! I am still in awe that Hunter is venturing out of the "Pizza Zone" and into the beef! Not sure I have ever had a waitress push the dessert that much before! Glad it didn't go to waste with John polishing it off!

I told John that we have got to plant the cotton trees so I can report back to everybody.

Hunter ventures out a bit more nowadays. He still doesn't like most veggies but he tries out different meats.

Lisa, so glad that you, John and Hunter enjoyed another good meal at Coral Reef. I wish we could fit it in this trip, but we are trying a few new places and just can't squeeze in another table service restaurant. :(

I enjoyed the New York Strip in December and then had the adult fried shrimp in June.

Love Hunter with the thumbs up blowing out his birthday candle on my most favorite desert in ALL of Disney.

I didn't even see fried shrimp on the menu when we were there. :confused3 Of course, I may not would have ordered it but it would have been an option. Hunter isn't a big dessert eater and, even though he does like chocolate, he didn't care for the dessert too much.

LISA! You know what? What is up with scowling people at Disney?? In my October TR I reported on the same thing at Ohana. I will never forget it. And while I type, I remember another time at 1900 Park Faire and both times, they were mothers. UGH! At Ohana- this lady was *****in' at her husband about their child and about their company ( apparently they had friends with them) and she was saying how she wishes they wouldn't have came, etc... Stevie kept telling me to stop being so nosey but it was like a train wreck. I couldn't help but look. I just don't understand it. Now, not every Disney moment is great but give me a break. Just sitting there scowling just doesn't help things! And after all the money spent, I'll be danged if I'm sitting there scowling.

On another note, That steak looked great!

I don't understand it either. It's like they try their best to NOT have a good time. Now, don't get me wrong, I've had my scowling/upset moments even at Disney but not to the point that it wrecks the whole evening/day.

great updates x

So glad you had a great time at Coral Reef. Yes the food looks delish. But eh desserts looked WAY Yummier!

i LOVE people watching and like you I would've stared at the grumpy chick!!! :rotfl: How can you be grumpy IN DISNEY?!?! Way to Go Dad for stepping up and taking care of the child! :thumbsup2

All of the food at Coral Reef was delicious and the cheesecake was amazing.

We are all people watchers and this lady was giving me one heck of a show. It wasn't like I was sitting there staring at her the whole time but she was right in front of me. It was hard not to watch her.

great updates x

Thank you!

Oh, that dinner looks fantastic!!! I love a good steak.... And that turtle cheesecake is just too cute!

I love a good steak too. The cheesecake was soooo delicious!

The frozen stuff looks so fun!

:thumbsup2

We have only eaten at Corl Reef once and were not impressed. Of course the seafood did not compare to what we get in New England. But reading all the good reviews I'm thinking we should give it another chance. But there are so many good restaurants in Epcot. Glad you enjoyed your meal.

It's weird but we usually don't eat much seafood anywhere but at home. Our Louisiana seafood is much better than any that I've eaten elsewhere. But, we don't have lobster so the pasta was a nice change.

Looks like a yummy meal!

I love people watching, and I would wonder too what was up with that woman. Why the frowny-face?

The turtle dessert was SO cute! Love it!

The meal was definitely yummy!

I have no idea what was up with Mrs. Scowly Face but she was not in a good mood nor was she helping her husband out at all.

Your dinner looked great! I'm not a steak eater, but John's pasta looked amazing. I may have to get that next month...

And, I'm getting that turtle cheesecake. For sure!

What a grump that lady was! Seriously, who has time to be grumpy at Disney?

The pasta was delicious and there was a lot more of it than you'd think when they bring out the dish.

That's what I said! Who wants to be grumpy at Disney?

Good grief woman, i take a break from my puter for a day (due to my stupid "mouse hand" from actually WORKING -- don't get paid but i do need to keep on top of a few things) and I'm 4 pages behind :scared: I actually had to take notes so i could comment on my Fav things!!

Oh my! Sounds like the spoon threat was very intimidating.

Cotton tree: the house we lived in when our kids were little had a bush that was covered in pink fuzzy balls in the spring. Our daughter christened it "the Cotton-Candy Bush" and cried when we didn't dig it up to bring with us :rotfl2:

If the tree/bush is what I am thinking you are talking about, we have those here too. I am anxious to plant our cottong tree seeds and see if they actually grow.

I would not like the Swiss Chalet rolls. I want soft smooshy rolls.

John's not an aquarium person either. He thinks they are just meh. I don't love 'em but I do enjoy them.

And the grumpy chick - DH and I would have had a whole scenario and possibly some fun at her expense. While I understand how a person could be grumpy at WDW (Been there, Done That) why would you continue to show it while surrounded by your family, who is obviously having a pretty good time? Dern Security...don't they need a coffee break so you could get a glimpse at least?

Like you, I've had my grumpy moments at Disney (and on other trips) but I quickly got over them. I mean, heck, there's other people around you that are having fun and you don't want to bring them down. You are too funny with your talking to yourself. I do that too. ;)

The security was pretty tight. If I thought that it would have worked, I'd have slipped them a fiver. :rotfl:

Thanks! It is super cute!! Good thing you got a picture first.

I could totally go for cheesecake right now. Sounds soooo good!

Isn't it the cutest dessert ever? I only paused for a second to take the picture and say it was cute before digging in.

I LOVE your pictures at Coral Reef! Now why did I not think of taking one of the menu. That was a cool idea! I am learning as I go. I think your turtle cheese cake picture is the best! The bailey's drink looks yummy!!!!

Hunter thought of taking the menu picture. Actually, he took most of the pictures.

John said that the drink was really good but strong.

Loved the review of Coral Reef! I will definitely have to try that cheesecake in November!!

We have always had good meals at Coral Reef despite my reading mixed reviews. It's one of the restaurants that we return to time and again.

Yeah, how come we don't have cute little desserts like that here? Lucky for us, we have always had good meals and good service at Coral Reef.

Following along. Staying at CBR in November and glad to read some positive stuff about it!! Sounds like a great trip so far.

I'm going back a little ways, and I apologize if anyone already explained this, but the blue lights in the fish tanks are for the corals to grow! Blue has a longer wavelength than yellow or red light, so they put blue lights in fish tanks with the photosynthetic corals so the light goes deep enough and cuts through the water and they get plenty of light to snack on. :goodvibes Wow I'm a dork!! :rotfl:

It's been a long time (2008) since I've been to Coral Reef. I love the atmosphere in there, it's so beautiful! Sounds like you all had a wonderful meal, and your dessert is one of the most adorable desserts I've ever seen!
