Disney dangled the visual weinee & Mickeystoontown gobbled it up! 10/26

You have arrived!!

Good job to Hunter for all the pictures. I gave my DH the camera to take pics while I checked in... two photos that is it! I should have given it to my son, he ended up taking some pretty good photos when I let him have the camera. His camera (my old one) broke right before the trip, which was bummer for him!!

Did your room have queen or double beds?

And I am right there with you on being a over packer and having two outfits/shirts for everyday and a few extra just in case!

So glad you made it safe and sound! Your view is lovely. And you know I love CBR! Your pictures made me happy. And yes, the smell is wonderful.

I love Hunter's birthday morning pictures. That shirt from Mamaw is great! Looking forward to more!

I'm so excited you've arrived. I can't wait to see all your CBR pictures. If during the refurb CBR gets a Murphy bed it will be the next resort we stay.

I hate that you have to move rooms. I like to get unpacked and settled in. At least it's not to far to move.

Hey there! Thanks for commenting! I remember my first Dis Meet and feeling a bit uncomfortable. Over the years, I've met a lot of fellow Disney lovers and it's so much fun!

I hope I can finally get up the courage to have DisMeets! I had a trip in January, and I would love to write the trip report, but I just started a wedding planning journal. Not sure if I can take on 2 reports right out the gate! lol.

CBR is a resort that we haven't stayed at yet, but hopefully we will someday!!

Yay you made it to Disney! Sorry about all the traffic! Given that you left on a holiday weekend I think you made really good time. They always seem to have issues with their computers don't they? Last year I was doing a quick stay and a split stay at that, and they had me as having a Magic Band, yet neither hotel I was at had the MBs yet! The MB was for my visit two months later! So my meal plan was not working. It was a mess! Oh well, they fixed it and I got to eat so I was good lol.

Two hours? Who cares? You are AT DISNEY!

Sorry about the computer issues and slowing you down, but glad to see your room was ready and you were able to get in it.

Hunter just cracks me up. He is such a hoot!

Nice view from your room. But I hear you on "paying for it." The only place I pay extra for a view is the Animal Kingdom Lodge; the rest I could care less about because I'm not in the room long enough to enjoy it.

Can't wait to hear what you eat and about a naked man. ;)

Yay!!! You have arrived!! Nice room and location. Oh, I wish I were there right now. We loved Caribbean Beach...

The drive between Hattiesburg and Mobile, Alabama was uneventful until we got closer to Mobile. Then, we saw traffic slowing down a lot and lines of traffic ahead of us. Crap! I don’t like driving in Mobile anyway and throw in road construction and lanes of traffic and I get a tad bit stressed. :scared: We inched our way forward and, you can’t really see it much from the next picture, but traffic was almost at a standstill for a long way ahead of us and behind us.

We would see people trying to get into another lane and squeeze ahead of someone but I kept to the left lane and stayed there. Untilllllllllll, there was a sign saying that the left lane would end so-and-so feet ahead. Super! Great! Terrific! Not! Thankfully, a gentleman allowed me to get in front of him and we all waved a “Thanks for taking pity on us out of town travelers” wave. :wave2:

After quite some time, we could see that road construction on one of the on-ramps was what seemed to be causing the traffic jam. Or, at least, that’s what it looked like to us. Finally, we made it to the tunnel:

**Continued in next post

Girl, the traffic here in Mobile is like that EVERYDAY going through the tunnel  :furious:. You were actually lucky because if it had been a wreck traffic would have been backed up all the way to the I-65 junction.

They are talking about building a second bridge over the Bay to try and bypass all the congestion in the tunnel, but they are saying it will takes years and that is if they get the federal funding now.

I guess the traffic is the price we pay for living so close to the beach!?!?:headache:

I am all caught up again and I have to say "You make me MISS DISNEY so much" :(. Our March trip seems like a 100 years ago now. I love the corner rooms at CBR!! When we stayed there we had a corner room and it was so nice to have all the natural light coming in. When we go back in October we will be at OKW and I hope we get a room with a good view.

Now this is gonna bug me. I KNOW I have a picture of the PA Paint Can. We have traveled past that thing more times than I can count. But of course -- I CAN'T FIND ONE SINGLE PICTURE OF IT IN MY STASH!!! Grrr.

However, along the same stretch of road (I-81, Shippensburg, PA) I do have a picture of a big rig up in the air, acting as a billboard...

052108007_zpsc793a6ab.jpg

LOL! I know exactly where that is!! About 20 minutes from my house!

I'm here Lisa! Can't wait to hear about this year's adventure and I will let you know when I start my TR..

I swear Disney depression is the absolute worst! I am having major post-vacay sadness today. And I will be back in February, but still.. LOL!! We loved POR but you know, I told my husband that CBR's pool is so much better... I was kind of dissapointed in the pool at POR.

Yay you made it - the Pearly Gates!!! :littleangel: I never tire of seeing them.

And there it is, my friends, what I often refer to as The Pearly Gates of Walt Disney World! :lovestruc

I also like how the signs change from the standard boring green highway signs to the "Disney-fied" purple/red ones when you leave the real world and enter the pearly gates. Everything is just better in Disney - just like you said, the smell is better in Disney too. I'm the same way as you and the Walmart clothes detergent, I look for products that remind me of the way Disney smells.

Hunter and his Darth Vader shirt had me laughing. :lmao: That was so sweet of your Mama to make sure he had something to open on his birthday and to keep reminding you and John to pack it. :)

Aaahhh - the sights and smells of the Caribbean Beach Resort - the lobby is so pretty! That first picture you posted, that man standing in the lobby doesn't look to happy to be there. :rolleyes1 Dude, you're in Disney World - lighten up! :hippie:

I'm sorry you had to change rooms, but like you said the first 2 nights were on Disney's dime, it's just a pain since you couldn't get all organized and settled in. We usually request a corner room - it does feel more open but I never thought about the missing mirror until you mentioned it.

OK, anxious to hear what's next with the naked man... Did someone from one of those "we bare all" joints get lost?? ;)

Oh those pictures at CBR just make my heart sing! ♪♫♪ We also enjoy the Jamaica area and Martinique. How I miss the amazing smell and nature noises and beauty. Sigggggghhhhh.

Thank you for sharing the lovely pictures and happy to see that you arrived unscathed. That's ALWAYS a good thing. ;) Can't wait for more! :)

Is it a bit crazy that I tear up a little just seeing a picture of the Disney welcome sign?

Glad you didn't end up getting into an accident. :scared1: That would have been really bad start to your trip!

Love CBR! Mom and I stayed there is 2012. We were in Jamaica 42. Looks like you are in 43 or 44 from your pictures.

Um, no not crazy at all! If that's the case, I'm crazy and I'm, well, I'm...okay so maybe it's a little crazy. :rotfl:

You are very observant. We were in Jamaica 43 which was a great location.

What a neat picture! I love odd stuff like that big old truck just sitting up there in the air.

I'm glad you arrived safely and you're all settled in, even if it is only 2 nights. I agree with you, unless I have a balcony where I can appreciate the more expensive view I'll save my money :)

Happy Birthday to Hunter :goodvibes

We were so happy to finally be back on Disney property! The view was very pretty but I wouldn't pay for it. It's not often that I just sit there looking out the window while on vacation.

The Jamaica area looks so pretty in the photo's ! I know I have been saying we are going to stay here for at least the past 3 years and always end up changing our minds. Our next trip in 2015 we really really are going to stay there :goodvibes

I understand the changing of the minds. Every year, I think "why don't we stay somewhere else" and we end up back at the CBR because we love it so.

Awww, the smells of Disney! :cloud9: There was a suggestion on my cruise FB page that I fully intend to do. Get one or two of the hanging Yankee Candle deodorizers to hang in your stateroom during the cruise. Pick a scent that you have never used before and is "tropical" (like Sand and Sun). After smelling it throughout the cruise, you can then buy it for home from time to time to take you back to your Disney cruise vacation. :beach:

This would probably work great for resort rooms, too! :thumbsup2

LOVE the Darth Vader shirt!!! If that were NOT a tank top, DH and DS would go crazy over it! ::yes::

What a great idea! I hadn't thought of that! I love the Yankee Candle sand and sun scent and the napa valley sun is great too.

Hunter is usually not a tank top kinda guy but he's gotten quite a few this year.

Hunter is a pretty good picture taker even if I am rolling down the road at 70 miles an hour. ::yes::

Our room had the double beds and, wouldn't you know it, the day we left, the newly refurbed rooms opened up for guests.

I am an overpacker to the max. I want to make sure that I have an outfit for each day and then toss in another shirt in case we come back and change. If we go out to eat that evening, then I want another suit of clothes. That makes for a very overstuff suitcase. Oh well, I'm helping lug those suitcases so I can overpack if I want. :thumbsup2

So glad you made it safe and sound! Your view is lovely. And you know I love CBR! Your pictures made me happy. And yes, the smell is wonderful.

I love Hunter's birthday morning pictures. That shirt from Mamaw is great! Looking forward to more!

I was so happy to have finally arrived! It's funny that you mention the CBR pictures making you happy because I was thinking the same thing when I posted them. Well, not that they'd make you happy (but I hoped that they would) but they made me happy.

I'm so excited you've arrived. I can't wait to see all your CBR pictures. If during the refurb CBR gets a Murphy bed it will be the next resort we stay.

I hate that you have to move rooms. I like to get unpacked and settled in. At least it's not to far to move.

I kinda thought that somebody who had stayed at the CBR recently would post more pictures of the refurbed rooms. In one of the pictures that a poster took, they had a murphy bed type mattress in the room so I'm hopeful.

I believe I said it before that I was nervous about our first Dis Meet. After that, it was all easy peasy.

If there hadn't been so much darn road construction and car accidents, we would have probably made it on time. Thankfully, the traffic was only bad when we got to the bigger towns.

What the heck? They thought you had magic bands and they hadn't even rolled them out at your resort yet? It's a good thing there's the Dis or we'd never get accurate information.

Not the easiest road trip to Disney, but at least you got there and all in one piece!!

I love being able to unpack a bit. I like knowing where everything is without having to dig around for it. A bit of a bummer that you weren't able to keep the room, but at least it was close by!

Two hours?

Can't wait to hear what you eat and about a naked man. ;)

I'd much rather spend 2 extra hours on the road getting to Disney than sitting at home missing Disney.

Hunter is a hoot and a half! Love that boy to pieces.

That's probably the only time I'd pay extra for a view too. Of course, I doubt that I will ever get John to agree to stay at AKL because he's not an animal kind of guy but I can dream.

Yay!!! You have arrived!! Nice room and location. Oh, I wish I were there right now. We loved Caribbean Beach...

Me too! What I wouldn't give for us to be at the CBR right now!

Girl, the traffic here in Mobile is like that EVERYDAY going through the tunnel  :furious:. You were actually lucky because if it had been a wreck traffic would have been backed up all the way to the I-65 junction.

I don't see how you deal with that kind of traffic every day. It would drive me nutso!

They say that they are going to build a fourth bridge over our river but they've been talking about it for eons so it'll probably never happen.

I told John that I was ready to go back to Disney right now! Kathy was just at OKW with Mary and the girls and we visited it while on our trip. It's so pretty!

LOL! I know exactly where that is!! About 20 minutes from my house!

That's so cool!

Disney dangled the visual weinee and Mickeystoontown’s gang gobbled it up! Our two week adventure!

Howdy folks! Welcome to the latest Mickeystoontown Walt Disney World trip report! For all of my old Dis friends, it’s good to see ya again! :goodvibes For any new readers, it’s good to see you too! :wave2:

You know, there’s only so much one can say when describing their family. I mean, seriously, unless there’s a major change from one trip report to the other, the intros are pretty much the same. So, I’m going to cheat a bit and copy part of the introductions that I made in my pre-trip report. ;)

First, there's our son, Hunter, who has celebrated 15 of his 17 birthdays at Walt Disney World. (The other two were a near miss by just two and a half months.) Hunter turned 17 on the day that we left our hometown and headed to Walt Disney World. He's super talented and can play just about any instrument by ear and is first chair viola in the orchestra.:charac2: Hunter is also a prankster and keeps us in stitches 24/7. If there were anybody who you'd think would be an actor and/or stand-up comedian, it's Hunter. He thinks fast on his feet and can come up with one-liners before you can blink an eye.

The man of the family is my husband, John. John and I own a cabinet shop which is operated right on our property but, several years ago, he went back to work full time for a commercial cabinet shop where he used to work. John is an outdoorsman and enjoys working in the yard and in the garden. Sweating like crazy and working until he is worn completely out is like therapy to him. John suffers from epilepsy and, unfortunately, it does effect our everyday life. But, it is what it is and the good Lord helps us through it so we deal. I mean, what else are we to do?

Then, there's me, Lisa, a/k/a Mickeystoontown. I work at a law office that specializes in domestic/family law. I'm a lover of all things Disney and am in constant Disney trip planning mode. Did anybody know that it's just 343 days until we are back in Disney? My hobbies include working in the garden, sewing both Disney and non-Disney themed backsacks and little girls' dresses (if any of you are interested, let me know ), camping and, basically, anything that includes the outdoors. I am definitely a tomboy but I like my sparkly jewelry. Oooooh shiny!

In the past, some of our annual Walt Disney World trips have included my 80 year old mother, our daughter, Lacey, and our son-in-law, Jesse. However, after last year’s trip, Mama decided that would be her last one with us. She said that she simply isn’t a Spring chicken anymore and didn’t think that she could withstand another long trip. Lacey and Jesse were booked to go with us but had to cancel their portion of the trip when real life snuck up on ‘em and they had to buy a new vehicle. As we told the semi-newlyweds at the time, “Sometimes being a grown up sucks!” and they agreed wholeheartedly.

Even though the kiddos won’t be traveling with us, I thought that I’d share our annual Christmas picture:

DSCF2075_zpsae349178.jpg
[/IMG]

Because Mama wasn’t going and Lacey & Jesse had to cancel, the group was down to just the three of us, the three Amigos, the three Cabelleros, actually, we’re more like the three Stooges if I wanna be honest with you. :p

This was our 20th trip to Disney and it covers a span of fifteen days, fourteen of which were spent at Disney. If you have read my reports before, you know that we are a lively bunch and we like to have fun together. I’ve been told that my reports are entertaining, in part, because we hold nothing back and I write all about it. My reports are also lengthy...I’m talking they go on forever because, like I said, I write about everything and have pictures to prove it. If you are new to my reports, don’t say that I didn’t warn you. ;)

This trip report may or may not include some “mistranslated” words which cause giggle fits, “wildlife” that makes an appearance where it’s not wanted and the utterance of “I wonder if people ever get caught doing this”.

Oh and I almost forgot to say something. I have made a lot of friends on the Disboards (some of which will make an appearance in this report) and love makin’ new ones. If you are a reader (new or old), please feel free to post. Don’t just sit out there in lurkdom. It’s not near as fun as chattin’!

Now, ya’ll go on and get a cup of coffee, or a coke or whatever tickles your fancy, because this is going to be one heckofa ride! ::yes::

looking forward to more x

I'm here Lisa! Can't wait to hear about this year's adventure and I will let you know when I start my TR..

I swear Disney depression is the absolute worst! I am having major post-vacay sadness today. And I will be back in February, but still.. LOL!! We loved POR but you know, I told my husband that CBR's pool is so much better... I was kind of dissapointed in the pool at POR.

Welcome! I know what you mean with the Disney depression. I had it baaaaad for a couple of days. Now, I'm counting down the days until the 2015 rates come out so I can book another trip.

There used to be a Yankee candle store in our mall and I'd buy Napa Valley Sun because it smelled like Disney to me. I'm so messed up.

Hunter and his Darth Vader shirt had me laughing. :lmao: That was so sweet of your Mama to make sure he had something to open on his birthday and to keep reminding you and John to pack it. :)

Hunter is definitely a Mamaw's boy so you know that she couldn't miss out on his actual birthday. He called her after we had hit the road and thanked her for the shirt.

Aaahhh - the sights and smells of the Caribbean Beach Resort - the lobby is so pretty! That first picture you posted, that man standing in the lobby doesn't look to happy to be there. :rolleyes1 Dude, you're in Disney World - lighten up! :hippie:

I thought that same thing. Look happy! Maybe he was checking out?

I'm sorry you had to change rooms, but like you said the first 2 nights were on Disney's dime, it's just a pain since you couldn't get all organized and settled in. We usually request a corner room - it does feel more open but I never thought about the missing mirror until you mentioned it.

I like to get everything put in it's place so we can relax a bit in the room. But, I couldn't complain too terribly much.

OK, anxious to hear what's next with the naked man... Did someone from one of those "we bare all" joints get lost?? ;)

:lmao:

Oh those pictures at CBR just make my heart sing! ♪♫♪ We also enjoy the Jamaica area and Martinique. How I miss the amazing smell and nature noises and beauty. Sigggggghhhhh.

Thank you for sharing the lovely pictures and happy to see that you arrived unscathed. That's ALWAYS a good thing. ;) Can't wait for more! :)

Don't they though! I would love to be in a hammock at the CBR right now!

Not the easiest road trip to Disney, but at least you got there and all in one piece!!

I love being able to unpack a bit. I like knowing where everything is without having to dig around for it. A bit of a bummer that you weren't able to keep the room, but at least it was close by!

That's me! I want to have it all organized (as best I can when you are an in a hotel room)

:scared1: I am soooooo far behind already!!!
Honestly, I had started with your intro page and thought I'd commented to get subscribed and realized today, that I must have read and then got distracted before making my comment. :lmao:
I was looking to read an update today and realized it wasn't in my subscribed threads!
But on the flip side, I had a few updates to read to catch up. That is always fun.
Loved the birthday T that your mama gave Hunter! Perfect for a SW fan. :scared1: at finding someone else's leftovers in your mini fridge. Those other folks must have been in a rush to leave on their way to Disney, too! :rotfl2:
I remember driving past all those funny buildings last summer when we made our "off property" drive for shopping looking for the Disney outlets.

You had quite the trip delays on your drive down. :sad2: Always so sad when you are in a hurry to make it to your happy place.

There is nothing quite as stress releaving as driving under that arch and seeing those beloved purple signs!! :cloud9:

Jamaica is an awesome place to stay at CBR without giving out an arm and a leg for a preferred location. Can't wait to read more.

Isn't it great to see the pearly gates of WDW? It's like you hear the angels singing: AAAAHHH! :little angel:

We had a corner room when we stayed at CBR and it did seem more spacious and bright. I never noticed the missing mirror.

Glad you arrived safely and that Hunter enjoyed his b-day gifts!
