Disney Daily Birthdays – July Exercise Challenge

I spent an hour at the gym last night! 370/900
Going to add some time in today for walking the race expo and time tomorrow for running and walking all over the city. If my legs don't fall off first. I really hope to get to purple by the end of the weekend since I'm slacking this month.

Hmmm, favorite Disneyland memory:
I only ever went once with my mom while I was just out of college. Our very own girls' trip. I had no idea there was an Alice in Wonderland ride and we both loved it. We giggled like little girls. I believe we rode it three times. Will always be one of my favorite rides and memories now.

My race is on Saturday! I took a nasty spill on the trail today. My glasses went one direction and my phone went in another. I must have looked like I was sliding headfirst into 2nd base! I'm a little sore but I should be fine by Saturday!

So sorry to hear about your spill. :flower3: Glad that you are okay and how smart you are to get that little bit of bad luck out of the way before your race starts. Have a great time tomorrow! Run like the wind! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I knocked a minute off my 5k time, so excited about that!

Congrats on knocking down your 5k time! :cool2: That is not an easy feat in the summer time. ::yes::

15 min walk with the dog. Slowly getting there. Although I hurt my knee last week on my bike and I now need an MRI...

Sending oodles of pixiedust: and good thought for your knee.

roxymama, have fun at your race week-end and good luck to your DH! :yay:

To all of our team members who have been to Disneyland - please share one of your favorite Disneyland memories. It can be something big or small, a favorite ride or character interaction - any memory you love, please share it! (Feel free to share multiple memories - I know I'm having a hard time picking just one!)

You are right, Sarah, it is hard to pick just one Disneyland memory. :goodvibes

Some of my favorites are from when I was a castmember from 1978 to 1980 and I worked here at the Tomorrowland gift shop that was called The Character Shop then. At that time Monsanto Adventures in Inner Space was the ride that exited through our gift shop. You used to be able to see a nod to this classic ride in Star Tours which replaced it.

Another fun memory is when we went to the Fantasmic Dessert Party that was up on the balcony above POTC where the Disneyland Dream Suite is now. My son was 5 and he was so mad at us because we made him stay up too late to watch the show. LOL. That kid is a total night owl now at age 16.

123 minutes with the run group -- set a new pace record for two whole miles -- which brings me to 896/1000

Thanks for keeping track of us, Sarah! :flower3:

I just walked for an hour at an Expo (and I mean waaaaaallllked.) I literally had to walk at a race pace to get from the parking lot to the expo and then through everything I wanted to do before getting back to work. It was a good pre-race excercise.
430/900

And OMG I signed up for next year's 10k at a discount. OH NO!

Happy Birthday Disneyland!!! :cake: I love everyone's stories!!! Hope to hear more!

I have never been to Disneyland. :sad2:
Living in Florida as a kid and still having family there I've been to Disney World more times than I can count but I've never made it to the West Coast, hoping to change that in the next few years!

Congrats on knocking down your 5k time! :cool2: That is not an easy feat in the summer time. ::yes::

Thank you Lisa & Great job on your pace record! Temps dropped to 70 here, so that helped! Even had a breeze!

@roxymama & @pix13dust good luck on your races this weekend!

11 mins arms today

catching up - 939/1600

Really struggled this week with the Film Festival, but tomorrow I'm attending my last film and then life goes back to "normal".

I've never been to Disneyland but maybe I'll make it out there someday.

Wishing everyone a good weekend...

Run like the wind, pix13dust! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: Can't wait to hear all about your race.

20 minutes walking yesterday brings me to 916/1000. Today I have running group and a walking 5k with Weight Watchers so I'll definitely be hitting my goal today in plenty of time for vacation.

Magdalene so sorry about the foot issue. They are frustrating and scary and take forever to get better because you have to keep walking on them all the time. Sending oodles of pixiedust and good thoughts that it heals up quickly and before vacation. pixiedust:

Thanks!! I think things are improving slightly. I think you might have been right about the shoe issues. I have converted back to my older running shoes for running and my DVD programs and it seems that the foot is healing well. I ordered a new version of the old shoes and will try how they work. The old ones are just not in good shape anymore. I looked at the soles of the newer ones and they look like they don't give me the correct support. I think they might have been too ambitious for me. I love that they speed me up, but they don't give me the necessary support. So, I am going back to the shoes that according to the shoe shop guy were really worn the way they should be. It was also those running shoes that caused me having really bad back pain on vacation as I used them to walk around Denmark and Norway. So, I should have listened to you!

And I can add a few minutes, but was not nearly as active as I should have been last week.

Am at 345/800 now.

Spent two solid hours walking and running and walking. Did my 5k and although it was brutally hot, I finished it! Think 31 or 32 mins, waiting for real results. Gonna add more time tonight walking to Taylor Swift concert :)

Had to switch out today's and tomorrow's workout because I got stuck at work later than I wanted and today was supposed to be another work out day with a four hour break between sessions. That was not going to happen because I volunteered to switch shifts and work tomorrow for a change and have to be in bed at a decent time, so I checked out what's on the menu for Monday and if switching was do-able. So instead I did a HIIT for endurance and an upper body workout for 55 minutes total.

I love all the Disneyland memories! For those of you who haven't made it there yet, I highly recommend that you go if you get a chance - it's really an amazing and special place!

For today, we celebrated with Mickey pops made from frozen watermelon:

Those are adorable!!

Congrats! It's definitely hard to go out there in the brutal heat, and it's amazing that you were able to finish!

Feeling :crazy2:/:mad: after today's 50-minute run. Trying to find positivity out of "at least I did it." Sigh.

I definitely have runs like that. Sometimes you feel like you should be happy you did it, but you're too busy being annoyed about something with the run. I hope your next run is better!

I've got nothing to report over the past few days ... I've been having some calf pain (which is getting better) and it's been painful enough to walk, so I wanted to take it easy. Hopefully tomorrow/later today (since it's already 1 AM...) I can get something in - I'm definitely starting to feel a little better.

I love seeing all the updates, and I'll have the front page updated soon. I can already see that we've got some awesome color changes, including our first members of Magic Kingdom Red! Which means I need to find my Magic Kingdom Red reference ... I probably should have kept that in the same word document where I keep the birthdays. Apparently I'm a little disorganized today (which is a bit uncharacteristic of me) ... but I'll definitely have some red to show you tomorrow!

Speaking of birthdays ... I'll have 2 for you in my next update, because I missed Saturday's birthday. So stay tuned, you should be seeing that one in less than 10 hours!

Thanks for all the well wishes! Unfortunately I didn't run like the wind BUT I did finish! We had mad crazy thunder and lightening about 4-6am, that delayed the race a little. We ended up running in extreme heat and humidity - near 90 degrees! A lot of vomiting and passing out. Honestly I would have quit at mile 7 but I was running with my BFF and it was her first half and she really wanted to finish. So I stuck it out! We actually walked miles 8-13, it was just too hot!
