Disney Cruise line came thru and did the right thing

Nope i wasnt told not to share anything and by the way i did not share any numbers
A lot of people on here aren't going to like the fact that you were compensated. They are going to continue to give you a hard time. Most likely the same posters that gave you a hard time the first go around. I would just ignore it. Obviously Disney did what they thought was right after investigating the situation. Hopefully you'll cruise with them again and have a better experience.

Next time please buy 3rd party insurance that covers any reason from leaving home to getting home. That way you can be responsible for your vacation, and not rely on the extreme ridiculous kindness of a company who absolutely should NOT have covered your hotel. That's what travel insurance is for.

You were NOT the only one calling, you were not the only one impacted by this. If we all thought DCL was expensive before this year, it's going to get ridiculous for them to get back what they are giving out in situations like yours (and there were many situations like yours, so I assume umpteen people are getting refunded for something that's just part of traveling sometimes).
I disagree, I think under the circumstances Disney was obligated to do at least as much as they did, possibly even more and it really isn]'t going to increase the cost of cruises, Disney has insurance to cover these types of situations, do not think for one minute that this is coming out of Disney's pocket.

Maybe he wasn't asked not to disclose. I've had issues resolved with disney, favors done by supervisors, and compensation. Never was I asked not to disclose anything.
I had a situation at Disney World once where the Housekeeping was so poor they ended up giving me two free nights in two rooms at a value hotel (since that was what we had booked) and they encouraged me to post the resolution publicly, so I don't see any problems in posting unless you are specifically asked not to do so in exchange for the compensation being offered.

Thank you for the advice..i think i will take it and ignore the negative ones. I only wanted to state that my earlier post was quick to judgement and to rectify my bad feelings i put out towards disney.
The reality is Disney monitors these and other discussion forums, facebook groups, etc. very closely. I would be shocked if they didn't know about your original post and if it didn't factor into you getting what you got.

And since they knew you posted originally, they would also know you would post about the resolution, which gives them good publicity and there are those on these boards that are trying to turn that into negative, so your attitude about ignoring the negative is probably good, as it will hopefully keep this thread positive and make sure that Disney knows these boards are positive overall, which will mean that there Disney will often do the right thing going forward. In this case, my opinion is when you first contacted them, they should have at least let you reschedule your cruise without penalty.

Im not sure how they could stop someone from posting anything anyway. Unless you sign some kind of non disclosure agreement, but that seems a little extreme for the amount of compensation we're talking about. Now if Disney settles over something that could have gone to court...like me the alligator vs child incident thats different. Getting comped a couple nights in a hotel is no big deal. It happens in hotels everyday across the globe.

Yes, but the point remains that people were saying they didn't think the OP should have come back and posted, I was simply trying to use a similar experience to show why the OP would be allowed to come back and post.

Great news! Also given the tension on your original thread, I think it's very admirable of you to come back and update everyone in favor of Disney. Glad they were able to do something for you. As discussed, not sure they were required to do anything but still nice of you to at least balance your review based on more effort shown from their end.

Thank you

Glad to hear you got things sorted out. It's possible that DCL couldn't do before what they have now done because they had to run things by their own insurance or at least their bosses. In any case, you may have had to persevere with them, but at least everything's been resolved to your satisfaction.

As for others asking for the same, well every situation is different.

In this day and age, companies need advocates to not only voice complaints BUT satisfied resolutions. full-circle customer solutions are a marketing dream. It sounds like it was short money and now we're all talking about it again. Well played, Disney.

OP: I'm glad you got the resolution you wanted. There are some on here that like to forget that Disney is a corporation and not a family-run mom & pop store.

Wow. I’m kind of shocked you were allowed to come back here and tell us this. Now other people will want their rooms comped, and can point to your case to back it up... That could be costly for the Mouse.

And if other people were treated like how Disney treated the OP, then I hope they do get their rooms comped. I hope they don't even have to point to this post. I hope it's a standard response.

It's not really costly for the Mouse. There were rooms open. In fact, I'll bet the more they do stuff like this, the more business they will get. On the other hand, if they don't treat people with respect or provide bad customer service, then less people will sail with DCL.

Just curious, did OP have insurance through DCL maybe and that's why they were comped?

From what I remember of the first thread, OP did not get insurance and had no back-up funding (cash or otherwise) for emergencies. In something pretty much unheard of, the desk manager at POFQ somehow agreed to bill OP for the extra nights (probably the most surprising thing of all in that original post).
