Will the DCL bus come to whichever resort that I am at (SSR) or do I need to go to a particular resort to catch it? It seems to me that there used to be only a few resorts that it went to.

it comes to you. You'll be given a time to be at the main building of the resort to meet it

Just to clarify as some people take what I say literally and wouldn't want people to get upset... Any Walt Disney World Resort ;)

AFAIK, they will pick up at any resort. We were picked up at Beach Club and had to meet up in the atrium where a DCL rep checked us in before the bus arrived. The bus had already stopped somewhere else and then we picked a few more up at the Yacht Club before heading to Port Canaveral.

I've heard the DCL bus gets you to the port later than personal transportation or cab?

Yes, most resort pick ups are in the 10:45-1:00 window. With the travel time to the port, generally, the earliest the DCL transport busses from the resorts start arriving at the port is around 12:00-12:30.

That is true. DCL runs on their own time. But I'm on my ninth cruise and the need to grab the first boarding pass has passed. The cost between the private companies and DCL was not too different when you include tips. And onboard checkin tips the scales to Disney's favor.

This for the most part is true, except the year we stayed at the Contemporary we had to walk next door to Bay Lake Tower.

I'm going with a group of friends on the Dream. We want as much time as possible after boarding in the new kids club Star Wars area. They may need to drag me out LOL.

On the dream I can understand. Those are some short cruises. Especially once you've done a 14 day cruise.

Yes, but they pick up your luggage about 8 am and deliver it to the port. We always do DCL transfers because we prefer not to wait in line and haul our carryon around for hours until the room is ready at 1:30. We get there, no lines, check in right away, board right away, up to the room, drop off bags, check port adventure tickets to make sure they're correct, head to Guest Services to get tickets for various tastings, back to room to unpack carryon and see if luggage has arrived, and then head to lunch. There's still plenty of time to do that and then rest after lunch before doing the muster drill, then sail away party, then grab pizza to sit on the deck with a bottle of champagne to watch us leave port. I don't see the attraction of arriving a mere 1.5 hours or so earlier if I'm able to do all of that and still be able to sleep in, get breakfast at a reasonable (i.e., not early) time, have my luggage picked up, relax before getting the bus, and not have to wait in line.

In case you don't know, you can book it jut one way. So you can go TO the port any way you want, and go to the airport, using onboard checkin (assuming your airline and flight qualifies you), using Disney Cruise transport. It's not just a roundtrip service!

What do you mean by "First Boarding pass"?

Is there 2 different runs of the shuttle service between WDW and Port Canaveral?

As you arrive at PC you are given a numbered boarding pass. Before the days of scheduled arrivals DCL used to hand these out on a first come first served basis. Getting a low number was coveted as it meant you were one of the first onboard.

Speaking of the Star Wars club, did they change the whole kids drop off area all into Star Wars? I was on the Dream in Jan 2014 but I keep hearing about this Star WArs club.

Yes :) and unlike DME, this includes the Swan/Dolphin, in case anyone ever wanted to know that.
