Disney Cruise disembarkment to WDW

So is the first stop the resort hotel, you check in then get on another bus to the MK?

I would assume so do to luggage etc. I'm wondering about bell services though.. I think it was a requirement to be in your room for luggage delivery..so I don't know how that will work if head straight to the parks. We had a huge hiccup last time at the Poly with bell services.. I can't handle that again.lol

They can hold your luggage for you until you actually get to your room and request them to be delivered. We have done this previously. Have a great trip.

Last year we did walk off, went through customs, drove to the Dolphin, caught a bus to MK, and made Buzz by 9:45. It did seem everything fell into place and couldn't believe we were on a ride before 10.

After reading this thread I'm so glad we cancelled our Disney transfers and hired a car from Happy Limo. We are on a four night cruise on the Magic on 4/27 and staying one night at the Polynesian Villas. Originally we weren't going to the parks that day but then decided to splurge and get one day passes for the Magic Kingdom. I want to maximize our time in the park especially since it is Easter week. Sitting so long on the bus would have been quite frustrating.

On the bus about 8:30, left right at 9. Arrived at OKW at about 10:30 (we were first stop) checked in and off to DHS....arrived there around 11:00-11:15.

Our last trip we didn't get back to the room until after midnight on our first night. I called bell services and informed them...40 minutes later still no luggage..I called again-no answer. Ended up walking up to the lobby..was not happy. But the rest of the trip was wonderful :)

We had the absolute worst experience with the WDW transfer after our cruise. I think it was just really bad luck but we sat on the bus for over 3 hours because we were the last resort stop of about 7 or 8. It was the Grand Floridian. We had FP+ that I had to reschedule. Honestly, I wouldn't plan on being at the parks until after 1pm. It will be way less stressful if you set your mind to later. I had read all these reports of being at the parks by 11AM and that just didn't work out for us!!

Oh wow, that's horrible! If you do a car service then do you have to bring your own luggage off of the ship? It's just myself and my 5 year old traveling, so dealing with our bags isn't something that I want, but may just have to.

No need to bring your own bags off the ship. We never do. Just arrange with the car service what time and give yourself enough times to collect your bags and go through customs.

And this is why for our last 5 times doing this scenario we booked private transportation. Called them when we got through customs and they were there in 15 minutes -- and we were out while the buses sat there. We usually hit the road by 8:30 a.m., sometimes earlier. We skip breakfast and just grab bagels for the room while we get ready. Now keep in mind, we've done 10 Disney cruises, so going to the last breakfast isn't "magical" anymore -- we just want to hit the road to the parks LOL. There are those, however, who don't want to miss that last breakfast, so the new bus system may be a win win for them.

We are doing our first cruise ever in June/July and heading to WDW after as well. I do not have the patience to wait for buses so was thinking of private transportation. Does anyone have an idea of cost from port to WDW? We are staying at POR.

Just in case you think that Disney automatically delivers your luggage to your room from the ship like they do with ME at the parks..they don't. You will claim your own luggage (or walk it off the ship) and bring it to the bus. It will be put under the bus for the ride to WDW. It is not automatically transferred via truck. From the bus you can then bring your luggage to bell services and pick it up when you get back from the park.

Thank you. I did realize that I would need to claim it when leaving, I did not realize that I would have to handle it after that. I don't know the distances, but I do know that transporting to bus, and then Taking it from the bus to bell services definitely isn't ideal. I think I'll look in to a car service for a few reasons now.

I might reconsider and book a car service. Any recommendations and cost? TIA

We just used Orlando On Wheels- Sasha is the owner. R/T was $360 from WDW- cruise- MCO. The $360 included a 20% gratuity and some other small fees. We were picked up on time both times and had easy rides.

just a few thoughts for you. the bus is pretty much right out the side door, it would be no further than the car pick up area, in fact I think it is closer. the other thing is with car pick up you are standing around looking for your car service with lots of other people who are looking for theirs to, where as when you go to get the bus you are directed to your bus and get on right away, no waiting and usually no line.
the other thing is whether or not you use the bus or car service you will have to take your luggage to bell services yourself. at least I have never experienced a driver that was willing to take my luggage to bell services. ymmv.

Ok so if I understand it correctly, we can leave our luggage with the hotel bell service and not check in to the hotel and go straight to the MK bus?
