Well...that really sucks!!! I thought that with it being $1500 I might have had a shot talking DH into a VR, but at $2500 I seriously doubt it. For that much I might as well have an Escape and get more of what I really want.

we are still sailing DCL but i ended up booking our wedding thru a company on st. thomas....it was reasonably priced and a beachside ceremony at that! I believe the cost was $1850. You can PM me if you want the name.:)

I loved my wedding and thought it was 100% perfect. I wouldn't want to have an escape for $500 more. I loved every part of my wedding and would have paid $3500 for it for sure.

My sis is going to have a wedding in few months - thanks for posting nice photos and stories - I will advise her to celebrate in such an original way!

I do believe that the Weddings and VR's are wonderful...I have seen everyones pictures and I am SOOOOO EXCITED for DD's wedding onboard in NOvember. I think the issues that upcomming Brides are having right now are ALL OF THE CHANGES!!!!

If they are like my daughter they have been told by whomever they spoke to on the phone that they would be allowed to do or have certain things with their Wedding and now when they are booked and in DD's case "PAID IN FULL" they are being told that things have changed and they are NOT alllowed to do the things perviously OK"D. Yes they may be changing things for 2010, that is all well and good things do change but there are several girls here with 2009 dates who are getting 2010 rules it seems.

I am SURE that DD's Wedding is going to be WONDERFUL.....but that said I still believe if they were told certain things in the beginning they should still be able to do them.

Hello all...I have been off line for a little while. That's too bad about the price increase, but to be honest with you, I would pay to have it because it was what I wanted, and I had the best time and the best memories. It does stink that they are increasing the prices so high, but if you want the Disney Magic, then it will be worth the money.

Have a great 4th of July.

So before I totally make up my mind, one more question. On a 3 day cruise which day is set aside for VR/weddings??

On our 3 night VR cruise in March 2006 it was held at 4pm on Friday while at port in Nassau. We paid $1000...and it was well worth it back then. :yay:

But if I was going to do it over and spend $3500 just on the VR then I propably would not be able to do it financially. We still had 10 more days of vacation and after we got off the Wonder we flew our kids and DIL home to NC and then we went to Vero Beach and then a week at WDW.

Not to many others had VR's on the ship when we did ours so I guess you could say that we were part of the guinney-pig stage. We did not even have the option of the ceremony on Castaway Cay. But you know that if the demand is there then the price will go up to reflect that.

Best wishes to all...
Cindy

My wedding ceremony is also going to be on Friday (Nassau day) however I don't have the official time yet.

Cheers

I just spoke to Brie and in 2010 the VRs are considered the same as a wedding. So, they are now charging $2500 and $3500. :sad2:

I have tried to speak to Brie and got no reply.
If they are treating the VW and wedding as the same with the same prices this has just been pushed out of our budget.

We're on a European cruise which is expensive to start with . More so now the Pound is a lot weaker against the Dollar than it was when we booked!

We only were having a very intimate ceremony with DH, me and DD there.
So after much debate and soul searching we cannot justify spending that amount of money on a VR at this time.

Hopefully we could do this in the future on a shorter cruise when the exchange rate is more favourable.

I will keep following this board and reading you posts with envy!

I am paid in full for Dec of 09. They can't raise the price on me can they?:scared1:

I have sent Bree several emails with questions and have gotten no response.

I would not think they could RAISE the price on the people who are allready booked and PAID IN FULL!!!!! CinderelliT you are a month after our daughter and she is also Pain in Full for everything. We are sailing November 8th for a 4 night. I believe she has a total of 13 (including Bride and Groom) who will be attending, so she allready got the extra $100.00 hit for the people.

Since she is in Dallas and I am in Pennsylvania we talk about it on the phone so I am not totally sure what all has been signed, but she said something about paperwork and so on that she has to fil out with guests and so on and mail back.

I would think if you are that far in the planning they could not raise the cost. Maybe for people booking for 2010 but not those allready in "the process" for 2009!

I agree with Belle, I doubt very much if they will raise the rates for 09 ceremonies. That would certainly cause quite a fuss.

:confused3 So i heard from Brie finally about the Sand Ceremony. She said they can't offer it because Custom's will have a problem with the sand coming off the ship. :confused3 WTH i'm bringing my own sand, not using sand from the island!! Besides, i'm pretty sure Patty already did the sand ceremony when she did her VR back in September. I have no idea what to do now.:confused3

Gosh, it seems like everything that was done previously is now being banned...I understand that DCL weddings are supposed to be standard and hassel free, but it would be nice to be able to add a few personal touches to it.

DD was interested in a Sand Ceremony as well, we gave that idea up a LONG time ago. I know I saw pictures of someone doing it onboard, but the catch to it was that the Captain would have nothing to do with it. It would be done just them, and I believe the pictures I saw it was set up on a seperate table also...please correct if I am wrong.

DD has just decided to go with what they will do....the Captain will do HIS Ceremony, it is also my understanding that he will not add anything to it, it is HIS set thing and that is that. We had found a really nice reading about the engagement ring, but that was also a NO....unless someone else wanted to read it at some time, but not even sure if it was going to be allowed durring the actual ceremony.

At this point I am trying to remember what all has changed since she started this planning with Cathy....the cake, no color...the outside florist, they wont store anything from a florist who is not a contracted vendor, She has Hired her own Photographer, and booked a seperate stateroom for them (so far so good on that one) but then it is another stateroom booked and paid for!!!

I had heard something about them now deciding there are places you ARE NOT allowed to take photos but I am assuming that she will be told that in the process.

I am hoping that is all that is going on right now I haven't had a chance to talk to her in awhile aboutwhat if anything else she has heard from Bri, if I do and there is anything new I will let you all know.

I wondered about the sand..I once read that someone used sand from Castaway as a souvineer.
That might be the problem..someone was caught with sand..Customs is really, really strict about food and plants (soil) because of the bacteria..

I know what you are saying about the sand coming from you..what about salt?? When I was a kid, we used salt and colored it to make the "sand bottles"

Hers is something I do not understand about the whole you can't take it off the ship thing.....Ok so DD will be getting the bouquet that Disney will supply. That Floral will be brought onboard IN THE STATES....her ceremony is ONBOARD the ship....the Flowers will NEVER leave the ship but she will not be allowed to take them off the ship with her when she returns to port.

Pretty much the same if you wanted to do a sand ceremony ONBOARD, now I am not saying on Castaway, but onboard it will enter in the states and leave in the states so what is the concern if it never enters a foreign place then is there really a risk of something else getting into it that would be a problem????
