LOved the video Betsy! The end shot with your veil blowing is gorgeous.

Brie called my house today.... hmmmm is she reading the boards? LOL!! She talked to DH since I was at work. I'll try to call her back on Tuesday, it's hard since I am on the West Coast. It's a pain to call at like 5:30 or 6 am here to talk to Florida! But I'm glad to talk to her.

My questions will be:
-Cake- chocolate and vanilla sauce, Palo reception time (so we can all plan for lunch quickly- it is our only CC day!) Can I place additional floral around the base of the cake to add "color" to it?

- additional floral- how well will it keep since we are on day 6 of a 7 day cruise? What about any I order from Shirley for Palo, or MIL, DM, etc? Will DCL keep it in the coolers? How well does any of it keep? I don't want to pay for wrinkly flowers. Not from DCL or anyone else!

- Palo reservations- obviously don't want to do our dinner the night of the ceremony, with choosing pictures that night and disembarkation in the morning, I'd feel too rushed.

-hair salon appointments for me and possibly DD?

Anything else I am forgetting? We're not doing a sand ceremony or anything like that.

Christine

Ok here i sanother question with all of the new rules we are hearing about.

Can anyone tell me if A Perfect Gift is a "contracted" florist with Disney???? DD was told that if she wants Floral from an outside Vendor that they have to be "contracted" with Disney! If not they will not keep them in the cooler, they will not be responsible for them.

So I guess now the flowers she wanted may be out as well. If anyone knows can you please let me know. DD says she is Ok with all of the changes going on suppose to be easy she says. I just would like to know because if they won't keep them in the cooler then it is not worh tht emoney to order them and try and keep them in the fridge in the Stateroom not sure if they would keep well as those fridges maybe arn't as cool.

i thought Betsy was able to keep her flowers in the cooler too, but she had to set them up herself?:confused3 I heard from Brie too, and will not be able to substitiue anything for the bouquet that i don't need. :headache: I'm going to be getting a quote from Shirly very soon...i wonder if she can do a Rose wand for DD??

Silly Little Pixie - how old is your DD?? The spa, and salon, are for guests 18 and older. I was told they rarely make exceptions for this, even for brides. My only chance was that the ceremony was on our only CC day, and hopefully the salon wouldn't be busy. You may try that, but be prepared for her not to be let in. I don't know what i'm going to do now that our ceremony is on Nassau day. :confused3

Shirley is a contract vendor..that is how she is able to get on the ship..they kept my flowers in the cooler for the one day between embarkartion and the VR but I don't know sbout 6 days...even DCL's flowers might start to wilt alittle...Mike was on a 14 day cruise and he said the Wonder brought his flowers to Castaway from Port Canavaral..

Can someone please pm me Brie's phone number and email? I've never gotten a single email from her (when she called last week she told DH she had emailed "several" times. He told her no, the only emails we have are from Cathy. ) I also don't have a phone number for her. The one on the caller ID just says it's sales and marketing for celebration place. No mention of Disney or DFTW.

Thanks!
Christine

Ok...so I talked to Brie this morning. Here are my answers:

1. The big one- construction at CC- yes, it will be going on during my VR. She said the entire Heads Up Bar and beach area will be closed! e:scared1:so WHERE will my beach ceremony be? They don't know. She said she's meeting with the cruiseline next week. She said they are looking into "other parts" of the island, but it will still need to be accessible by tram, have room for the pianist, etc. I told her I booked this purely for the beach location, view of the Magic in the background, etc. I realize DCL has the right to work on CC. I just wish DFTW had notified me that the beach location I booked was no longer available to use. I really want to be able to SEE where my VR will take place. I'm trying to be relaxed about it, but as the day goes on it is more bothersome to me!!! It's a lot of money for a CC ceremony. I don't want it to be in an overgrown area, or one without a Magic view!

2. She will check and see if Shirley is a contract vendor. She did not think she is. Her answer to if the flowers stay fresh was "we select types that don't wilt easily. Gosh, I hope so.

3. Palo reception time is 30 minutes or so. No floral at the base of the cake unless I pay $12.50 for petals on the table.

4. I can get a Palo ressie for 4 on a different night.

5. No hair appt for DD12. Thats what I expected.

So CC is my only wrinkle (and it's a big one!). I wish I knew where they'll put us. I can't believe they don't have a plan yet!!:headache:

Deep breaths:goodvibes

Christine

WOW! That is a big wrinkle!

As for Shirley..she delivers flowers and baskets to the ship all the time..she said she once was the florist for DCL, but lost the contract to another florist in the bid

I will say, Disney Floral did stay pretty for a week...The roses got bruised, but that was after the VR and on the trip home...they were the freshest flowers I had ever seen

She did say that any floral by a non-contracted vendor would not be kept in DCL's coolers. You'd have to keep it in your room cooler.

So that's out...my room cooler will be filled with wine and mucho cerveza! :cool2: A girl's gotta have priorities!

Christine

No..DCL kept all the floral from Shirley in their cooler on Deck 1..the bridesmaids bouquets and Palo loose floral and glass cubes..they delivered it a few hours before the ceremony to my bridesmaid's room

Christine that's crap!! I specifically asked Cathy about construction on CC months ago and she said nothing specific had been planned, but if/when it would, IT WOULD NOT INTERFEER WITH THE WEDDING LOCATION!! :headache:

Yeah, I remember that from your TR. Seems things are different now.:rotfl:

All kidding aside, it's frustrating. How uncool is it that I find out that CC construction began from returning Magic passengers comments on the Dis?! And that I took it upon myself to ask about CC VR location on the phone call? This wasn't even offered info.

I don't even know how to tell DH. He ain't gonna be happy. "We're paying all this and we don't even know where the ceremony will be?" :confused3

Christine

OKK so DD's Wedding is actually going to onboard the ship in November but it stinks that there will be construction on CC while we are there also. Pixie when I read your post I had to check when your ceremony was. I am also wondering where they will move you to, and how soon they will let you know where it's going to be.

As far as the Floral goes DD was told the same thing if it is an outside vendor they will not keep the flowers in the cooler you had to keep them yourself. So I think that now she is just going to pick one off the list Disney provided her. It seems that there are several things that DD had talked with the previous planner about that have now been changed. I get the different rotations for people on the cruise, but you would think that certain things would remain the same. We have been wondering if it has something to do with maybe more people are wanting to get married durring a cruise that they are "changing" things from the way they had been done in the past???

I guess what they need to do is make hard rules that cannot be changed for ANYONE!!! That way people will not see things that others have done and want to do the same??? I am not sure what the end result will be, or should be. Like DD has explained to me, the WEDDING on a cruise is like an "ADD ON" so maybe this is why it is like it is. She said it shows nowhere on her reservations that she is having a wedding, when she called reservations for something the Cast Member she was talking with was looking for a reason her total was so high for a category 6 and DD had to explain to her that she had a Wedding Booked!

She is trying to be calm about all the changes that have been made since she booked, so far the Cake, the Flowers, I think thats it. I do believe they said she can still have the cake moved inside (fiancees mom will be finishing chemo and can't take the sun). She is taking a Photographer along with her (guess that is OK since it is another stateroom booked and more money paid)
If she hears anything else about it I will let you know as I find out. I know she told Bri what florist we had been talking to and last I talked to DD, I think she was waiting to see if it was a contracted vendor, don't know which way she will go if they are not, thinking she will just use Disney Floral to save a problem.

Please keep posting what you all find out, so we are all in the loop......

You know..the area at Deck 7 door inside is pretty large..maybe they will set the cake up inside that area..if you look at the video in my signature, you can see they decorate it..it would be easy to set the cake up there rather than having to trudge all the way down to somewhere..and the ropes can block the area off so no one will come over there.

I was afraid they would stop allowing outside floral to be kept in the cooler...I think I said it in this thread...When I did mine just a year ago..it didn't seem as popular a place as it is becoming..I had so little information on the DCL wedding, I would dig just to find pictures...I had a lot of floral too...between the 3 bridesmaids bouquets and the box of Palo flowers..I thought they were going to bring them to my room and I was going to put them in the coolers of my friends..but they told me they would keep them and deliver them at the time of the DCL floral...So, I really didn't find that out until the day the flowers came on the ship (2nd sailing)

They told me all outside floral would need to be stored in our room. I had ordered flowers for my hair and flowers for my dad and Pete's Dad and his Mom and my Step Mom. I forgot about them...LOL My Wedding planner delivered them to me the morning of the wedding. They got delivered to the ship and because it had wedding on the tag they just put them in the cooler with my bouquet. Also if your Daughter wants omething else Disney will provide it for a cost!

I have had to find out about any changes and construction from the boards here and not from my planner!!! I think that it is rotten to find out this way and that the planner, or someone from Disney should notify us first.

As for flowers in coolers- be careful about storing them yourself!! Flowers are not meant to go in a regular refrigerator. It will actually make them wilt when you take them out. It doesn't have the right humidity and temperature for it. TRUST ME! The cruise probably has it's own floral cooler, and that may be why they say they can't store floral from other vendors. Maybe they don't have enough room if there is more than one wedding at a time on the boat.

If it's a short cruise- like mine, I'm sure certain types of flowers from outside vendors will last in a room just fine. But other than that, you'll probably have to use Disney.

Cathy told me about it in January - she said that CC was being overhauled starting I think in October and that she didn't know any of the details. A month ago I asked about it through our WDW consultant and got a nice email from Brie saying that she didn't know of anything yet. So at least the plans have been announced. I am anxious not only to hear the details but I also want to know where the alternate beach location will be b/c I was not super fond of the one that they currently use and would much rather have something farther away from the boat.

Anyhoo please post when you hear something.

I know they only one per location per cruise, so I am worried that I won't be able to get the date that we want. We already have the cruise booked and some family has already booked as well. Has anyone not gotten the date that they wanted?
