I talked with my daughter (bride) yesterday and she finally got the call that her dress is IN!!!!! She is going this weekend to pick it up. I am not sure how long they told her it would take but it has been 2 months since I was in Dallas with her to pick it out. Wish I could be there with her to go and get it but I will have to miss that part since I am in Pennsylvania.

So she has the crinolin that I dyed BLUE, the dress is waiting to be picked up. I bought her the Giselle Necklace to wear, she is going to look at veils again when she is in for the dress, shoes she is still deciding about. I do believe she is "dressed".

I am working on a bit of a SUPRISE for her as well. She initially wanted Hydrengas for her bouquet, that isn't really an option on the ship, so I am calling a florist today since I am off work and checking into that. I will order the bouquet in Hydrengas and have it delivered to the ship, then on the day of the wedding have them deliver that to the stateroom instead of the flowers she orders with the Wedding Package. I think she will LOVE them. I will also have them make a boutineer for Rene (groom).

NOw I have to sit back awhile and wait....waiting is hard, it seems that we have everything done, she keeps tellin me that but it seems that there SHOULD be so much more to do.....

the boutonniere is included in her wedding package..

Did you call Shirley?? She is the best for delivering packages and flowers to the ship

Betsy, Is Shirley who you used for yours? Does she have a website? I never thought to order mine but I think I will being that the choices we get are kinda limited.

How early do they get delivered? Will they be good all day?

they are delivered to the ship on the day you board..because I had flowers already in the cooler, they kept them downstairs ( i did get to peek at them the day we sailed)
They deliver all the flowers to my stateroom about 2 hours before the ceremony

DisneyDmbNut, did you have flowers delivered other than the ones you got with your package?? Is that what you ment when you said you allready had flowers "in the cooler"?? If that is the case where do they keep them downstairs?? Do they stay fresh?? I am wanting to do this as a suprise as I said, so now I am wondering if I should get the phone # for the planner DD has been talking with and tell them that I am wanting to do this and have them take the original flowers OFF her list so I am sure that if I order something else they are kept in a way that they will be PERFECT for the wedding. I don't want them to be all nasty if I go ahead with the flowers she really wants......HELP

Sorry forgot....If I do this will I be able to see them BEFORE the wedding so I know they got there like you said you did eventhough I am not the Bride, just the mom of and the person who will be doing the ordering????? I was really hoping to be able to pull this little suprise off for her, I know these are the flowers she REALLY wants.

I had my bouquet, DH's boutonniere and my mothers corsage ordered from DCL.. DCL kept Shirley's flowers in the cooler with them. I went down and looked at them just to see what they did with the bridesmaids bouquets because we had just a general idea of what was being done. I waited on Deck 1 Midship while the coordinator went in the crew area and got them

I don't think her planner would allow you to "remove" anything she orders. There would be an issue of privacy (even though you are the mother).

I am not clear, what would you be removing? The bridal bouquet and boutonniere are included in her package. I don't think they would credit her for those. You can order flowers from Shirley for you and bridesmaids..etc. BUT, I would tell DD you are handling that..just tell her you are picking that up..

I'm wondering about the flowers too. Since my VR will be on Castaway Cay, it'll be on the last day of our 7 night cruise. Will the flowers even still be fresh by then?? I really want a single hibiscus in my hair... no veil... and same for DD. I planned to order those and anything else I might want from Shirley. I'm just starting to worry about how ooky the flowers might be after 6 days, kwim? Both the additional ones and the ones from DCL...

Anyone have experience with this?

Hmmm...that is a REALLY good question!!
Mike was on the Repo cruise and his VR was the last day...maybe they bring the flowers on at another port??

Sorry for the change of subject.....

I want to have my hair done at the salon the day of our VR! Do you know how much it runs? I wonder if I bring a picture if they can go by that?

Thats where you had your toes done to huh?

These are the salon prices listed in the Disney Cruise Wedding packet. Dunno if they're up to date...

Blow Dry $30 - $45
Ladies Wash, cut and style $52- $70
Highlights $79 - $99
Men’s Wash, cut and style $29
Permanent Color (Roots) $64 - $79

yes..they do hair..My contract shows the price from $50-70 for wash, blow and style

Ours was a first for DCL. We left from California 15 days before the VR, so they couldn't bring on the flowers there. They actually had them made up in Florida, and had the Wonder drop them off on CC on their stop a couple days before ours. Luckily, we were able to dock at CC and they sent someone right out to get them.

RRRRRRRR!!!!! I'm so in the mood to vent!!

I emailed my "lovely" wedding planner Cathy. I use the word "lovely" very loosely!!

she seems so rude. I needed to know the time of our VR so that I can decide on Palo or not, I got a typed answer next to my sentance, "will know 30 days before".

I asked how long the ceremony and reception usually last. Got nothing. Asked questions about the cake, got " will discuss when it gets closer".

HELLO!!! I have 5 months here!!!!

Oh, then I got a Happy Holidays at the bottom. Thats it. No help at all!! Anyone else have these problems with her. Will it get better? Im so upset right now.

Can anyone else out there be my diswedplanner LOL and help me out on the time line of the ceremony and reception so I can decide on Palo. I can book my reservations in Jan. But yet can't get answers from her until 30 days before I leave??????????????? makes sense.

Ok, sorry for venting my dis peeps!! I was having an emontional bride to be moment!! RRRRRRR!

oh..I feel your pain!

Unfortunately, the way DCL does the DFTW is VERY different from the land planning.

Cathy does very little planning in the beginning. She will contact you about the contract about 120 days before..you can book PALO 105 days before you sail as a part of the concierge package. She booked the private Palo for us at 100 odd days..she really kicks in about 45 to 30 days before..due to changes with staffing on the ship, planning something with the pastry chef now may not be the pastry chef when you cruise (the staff have rotating contracts)

My family is waiting for me to come to the table..I will be back

Don't take it personally. For one thing, she is the only planner for cruise line events and is extremely busy. For another, because there is so little that Disney needs to do for the cruise events (and, as Betsy said, the onboard staff changes so frequently), they don't really even start looking at your file until 60 days before you sail.

I know this seems unbelievable, when we as brides begin planning a year or more in advance, but that's the procedure. And things like the ceremony time cannot be set until closer to departure. On top of that, the day and the time are both at the discretion of the captain and could change once you get on the ship (usually due to weather). This is why they tell you not to engrave anything with your wedding date before the cruise.

The best way to get answers to questions like the ones you have is to ask them here and read the trip reports of past DCL brides - we've had a bunch of them recently, and they are all sooo helpful. :goodvibes

ok..ate dinner and I am back

Carrie explained it better than I could..they told me two times for the VR 4:30 and 5:30 and at the time (I think March or April) it looked like it would be 5:30. She also explained that it is ultimately up to the captain as to the time.

I too felt the panic because I had so many people to notify and the whole Palo thing (there are only 2 times for the private room - 6:00pm and 8:30or 9..can't remember)
Cathy kinda came off as rude in the beginning, but rest assured, it is just because she is limited with the changes she can make until the end..she was AMAZING at the end..she and I emailed almost everyday the last month

i just went back and read this thread..because it was sorta like a PJ for me..on May 27 Cathy met with the florist to review my file..My VR was on the July 24th sailing..so that was 60 days before

It seems that maybe "Cathy" isn't a very friendly person (my opinion) but my daughter is getting Married on the ship we are cruising November 8-12, 2009. I have been telling DD the things I have read here about such things as Sand Ceremonies, having the Cake moved into Palo and a few other things. She has yet to get in here and read this so here I am again.
Anyway she sent an e-mail to Cathy with a few questions and here is what she was told.....

She asked where the "Receprion was held for a WEDDING...Responce it takes place the same place as the Ceremony.

She wanted to know if it was possible for the ceremony have have additional things added she said she knew it was odd but asked if they could do a Sand Ceremony, and I had found on (on here I believe) a pretty additono about the committment of athe engagement ring and what it stands for they wanted that incorporated into the ceremony also. She asked if she could type it and have the Captain read it....She was told this....you can add it if you will be saying it to eachother the Captain or the First Officer will not add any additional things to "their" ceremony for what they say. They will only preform "their" ceremony. You can do this after they finish with "their" ceremony.

Then she asked a couple questions about adding an hour of photography and filling out some of the paperwork but I thought that the answers to some of the questions were a bit rude. I know I have seen on here where people have had their cake moved to Palo, I now I saw pictures of a Sand Ceremony, and really who's ceremony is this??? The Captains or the Bride and Grooms?? I am not asking them to kiss their behinds but come on....You arn't allowed to ask the Captain to read a 1 paragraph message about a ring???

And really if you wanna get technical about all of this (if you think about it) since they are married in shorts and a tee shirt Before they leave port arn't all of these Vow Renewals?? So why the difference in cost unless you do the Castaway Ceremony.

So there is my rant like the previous poster I think that all that anyone wants who is doing this is a couple answers it is a BIG DAY to them and I don't see where the small things that they are asking have to be a big deal....all they want is a little information to put their minds at ease and a little reading or a little sand....Am I crazy here??????
