As long as there is a cake there for the toast is all I care about! I would rather have a warm freshly baked DCL chocolate chip cookie with a big glass of milk! LOL

I couldn't even tell you what kind of cake I picked out...I would have to go look! :confused3

I am more worried about Tom...I will have my sister prepared for back up to check and make sure we have everything we need when we go out to Castaway Cay.

I agree Lisa, I'm really worried about Tom more than anything! I too will make sure I have a backup person to keep an eye out for the small stuff!

You know they rotate out every three months right (or at least that is what I heard! )....maybe we will be lucky and have the last crew back on board...lol

I just think some people are making some of the staff out to be malicious or something...which I highly doubt is it. Plus on a cruise they are under much scrutiny, I don't think they want to lose their job over eating a piece of cake...

I don't think I or anyone else is making the staff out to be anything. I think you may be over reading into the posts a tad.

I've worked with conventions and large events and dealt with catering staff and hotel staff. Its not about losing their jobs. Honestly its just a given if there is left over cake or if an event has excess unplated meals they are always offered to the staff and I've never seen staff turn them down. Trust me college students will take food to go. Even at catered events usually if you provide a meal for staff or other event workers its usually not the same food as whats plated to guests. Its usually something less then exciting. Since staff usually have access to it I doubt they would think twice about eating it. Simply put if the cake was left for the staff to think it was ok for them to have it, they will.

Had the family not asked for the cake for later then I think it would have been fine but since that wasn't the case I don't think it should have happened. Honestly I don't think the staff were at fault. Based on what was posted by other person I think TOM was at falut. I don't think anyone should have had to deal with the mishapps on their wedding day. Regardless of how small someone else thinks they are. Thats why your paying for a wedding planner. If other person was ok with what happened they wouldn't have posted about it.

I know your wedding is comming up soon and I hope that you don't let what other people are posting about stress you out. I think people post there experiences to rejoice, vent and to help the rest of us be better prepared as those before them have helped them. I trully wish you a wonderful, magical wedding.

Finished my save the dates today, and thought I'd share!
Once I get done with rotations, I hope to get a planning journal started in the next month or so! :goodvibes

I am perfectly happy and content with my upcoming wedding and no one's posts "stress me out", thanks for your concern and thought.

I hope when I get to work tomorrow I have an email from Shanda. I hope I get Sarah too. Fingers crossed.

I had Sarah!! she was great and so helpful. No worries for you :)

I was confirmed with Sarah too. I'm not sure why she wasn't there. I heard she was amazing.

I really don't want anyone getting in arguments over this. I told everyone what happened with our cake. I have no idea where it went and don't really care. I was just upset because I wanted to continue to celebrate with my guests and the cake was really good. If the cast members ate it, then great. Some of them deserve it. I just would have liked to have some first.;)

For anyone on upcoming cruises, even if you have Tom. I'm guessing he's new, and doubt he will make the same mistake again. Our wedding was gorgeous and I was still extremely happy with it. I wouldn't change it for anything. Yes, there were mistakes. Not nearly as many as if I planned it myself, though!:rotfl: If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask me. I will help the best I can.

I just looked again....I only have my preliminary one. Where was yours listed?

I will look when I am at work...the only reason I know is b/c I am mailing items ahead of time to be placed into each room and Shanda figured out it would be going to Sarah...I then was looking into my paperwork and saw her name somewhere on the paperwork and was like ohhh ok now it is all fitting together...so many names!

I'm BACK! And I'm saddened to see poor Tom getting, for lack of a better term, bashed in here. A horrible mistake was made. Cant dispute that. But I know we tend to focus on what COULD co wrong when planning a wedding, remember to focus on what has gone right too!

We had a totally different experience with Tom. I'll have pictures later.. but here goes.

In just the Tom related things, we had no problems. Yes, he seemed busy, but apparently it was a busy wedding cruise . One bride brought 4 dresses with her and needed them ALL steamed (or whatever). He managed to get about 30 people squeezed into the conference room where we did the civil ceremony (with wife in a Minnie outfit!!!!)
We gave him the flowers to hold, as well as the pomadore and some other stuff. All arrived with no issues. He also got us a signed picture mat ON THE LAST DAY because we forgot to unpack it and give it to guest services.

Our cake cutting/dance went off perfectly. Well, one hiccup. He introduced us as Mister and Mister Donahue. OOPS.. We were laughing all the way to the dance floor. He was mortified, but we didn't care. After the cake, we DID have the top tier delivered to dinner, wrapped up and ready to go. Our waiter even put it on a tray to escort us home, clearing a path for us.

Tom was in constant contact with us and the wave phones were excellent for this. get his number in the memory and relax.

I'll write more late.r. laundry calls..

DON'T PANIC!!

I was not bashing Tom, just stating we weren't thrilled with our experience with him. He was extremely kind and I do believe he felt bad for the mistakes that were made, but he should have gotten our names correct, invites sent to correct rooms of our guests, and the date correct on our certificate. Part of paying as much as I did, comes with the expectations things will be correct. At least not be given a panic attack over details. Me being nervous is not his fault, but after numerous errors, i felt my name should have been correct at the very least...

At the end of the day, the wedding itself was lovely and that is due to Tom and we are appreciative of the work he did do.

I'm very glad you had a better experience with him.

they let you take your cake home?? US Customs would not allow any food product to be taken off the ship on all our cruises..I would KILL for another piece of my wedding cake.

I find some people get different experience with different people. I LOVED Cathy (the former land coordinator) and thought she was amazing but several other brides had her at the same time and were extremely unhappy. I don't know why it works like that and I am not saying it's right..just an observation.

That is not an excuse for not having your names correct or the certificate (unless the date was changed due to weather) right.

ps - Donahue's RULE!!! LOL

As far as "LET US" well, we had 2 30 gallon footlockers, 2 suitcases and a carryon each when coming back through customs. I think the guy looked at us and thought about how long he would be there goign through everything.

We also got our flowers, and a few other things we probably shouldnt have. :cool1: Just walked through..

:)

And I wasn't calling anyone out on bashing tom. I just seems, understandably so, that once one negative is mentioned, they ALL come out, while people tend to forget the positives. We shouldn't be adding to the stress with 1000 What-ifs in the mind of the next brides..
