Hi everyone! Here's the letter Mike just wrote to DCL.
To whom it may concern,
I am writing you this letter regarding our last cruise(s), we did a back to back starting 9/11/2011-9/18/2011 on the Disney Dream. My now wife and I actually got married on the first sailing (9/11/11-9/15/11), then took a honey moon cruise on the second sailing (9/15/11-9/18/11). We were looking forward to the Perfect fairytale wedding as we planned for the past couple of years, especially for the fact that Disney cruise line has been a major part of her life (this being her parents 16th Disney cruise who also attended the wedding). It started great and as anticipated, however, during the wedding, the wedding coordinator forgot to give Shannon her flowers for the ceremony (Not sure what the price of those were, but we did not have them until after the ceremony was completed), and also forgot to give the rings to the ring bearer, we actually had to stop the ceremony and get the ring pillow from the other room. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think those 2 items rank pretty high on the important scale. After the ceremony was over, we were promised to have the top part of the cake for dessert at dinner that night, along with the cake topper for a keepsake. Neither one of those happened. I called Tom (the wedding coordinator) the next day, and he said he would take care of it and have it the following night for us, and also told out Head waiter (Raul) and he said he would personally address this. Both of them absolutely dropped the ball and the cake or the topper was never to be seen again. I know we were close to the Bermuda triangle, but really? How do you lose the cake and the topper. Not even on our second sailing was it ever found. This being my personal first Disney sailing, I am not impressed, not to mention on her wedding day all of these mistakes were made. I'm not sure what/if there is anything you can do to attempt to rectify this, or to hopefully prevent this happening to another couple that is spending $2500.00 extra for this "Fairytale wedding", but I thought I would write this to inform you on how disappointed we were for the money that was spent and the promises that were made.
Thank you,
Mike Kapis
We still had an amazing time. Lee, our photographer was awsome! We also had and amazing server, Andre. This made up for a lot of the horrible mistakes.
I know the rings and flowers should have bothered me the most. Really it made for some great pictures because we forgot too until we were standing in front of Capt. Henry.
Which was also really neat that Capt. Henry actually married us. That doesn't happen too often.
The cake on the other hand really bothered me.
1. It was very delicious, I wanted another piece!
2. We were planning on continuing the celebration with our guests.
3. They promised it the next 2 nights and still never saw it. When we talked to Tom the last night he apologized and said he had no idea where the cake went.
We got a new topper to take home, but it wasn't the one originally on the cake. Which we are using for our reception at home.
Anyways all in all I'm still glad we chose DCL for our wedding and had an amazing time!
Now to plan our reception for Saturday! I'll try to post some pictures if I can figure it out!
