Thanks Jen!

It's a bummer, but it's well worth the risk as i wouldn't be too upset if it was inside. Glad my wedding isn't in hurricane season...so *knock on wood* I have a fighting chance!

Maybe they mean a FULL refund....but will still give you the difference from the inside wedding.

I really think they are referring to deck 7 vs inside the ship. Due to very high winds (we sailed around the hurricane) our VR had to be moved inside. I was bummed, but they did make it look very pretty for us.

I have little ones at home which makes it hard to be online much, but I am finally caught up (all 138 pages, lol). Now on to the PJ and TR of all the DCL weddings/vow renewals.

Shanda did get back to me today & I'll paste her answer about the CC refund:

Disney Cruise Line’s main concern is safety. In the case of inclement weather, your coordinator will find the best possible location for the wedding and cake & champagne celebration and notify all the appropriate areas to let them know there will be a location change. Your coordinator will utilize an indoor area onboard the ship. If the island ceremony location has already been setup and inclement weather hinders us from holding the ceremony there, no refund will be issued. However, if we have advanced notice of inclement weather (i.e. a hurricane) and it is determined prior to the day of the ceremony that we will not be able to perform the ceremony on the island, a refund may be possible, at the discretion of the ship.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Thank you and I hope you’re having a wonderful day!
Wonder if this is a new policy?

Hey Cheryl, How have you been? How's the family? Not been on the Dis as much as I use too; but now that we are planning a cruise (not til Sept 2011) I'm starting to 'make time' to get over here. I still love seeing all the weddings and vr and try to follow some of them.

I HAVE to scan everyday....it's just an obsession of mine...:rotfl:

Well, we all survived the great RI flood; everyone is going to make it to the next grade; although my business partner and I are desolving the company (just can't quite get along) I have found a great job; and we are headed to Disney in 1 week. That about sums up my life for the past 3 months!!! ;)

Great for you for taking another cruise...we are hoping to go in another 4-5 years.

DD's Wedding was on Deck 7 really windy durring pics before the Wedding..

Calm and a beautiful moon durring the ceremony.....

My wedding was also on Deck 7...but unlike Betsy's, we were not overlooking the Atlantis. I guess the ship was docked in the opposite direction. It was calm and beautiful (and extremely hot). When we went to the other end of the ship, (facing Atlantis) it was quite breezy.

Cheers

it RAINED on my VR day and we were moved from Deck 7 to the Cadillac Lounge about 4 hrs before the ceremony.....there was no refund because deck 7 and the lounge were the same price. the lounge was decorated very nicely...had a really pretty archway up. the only bad thing is by the time we finished the ceremony it was NIGHTIME and we didnt' get any of the beautiful blue water pictures other brides have posted. but we did get a few good night shots so i guess that's a plus...don't see too many of those.

thanks for the helpful feedback everyone! I'll also double check with Shanda (coordinator) :thumbsup2 and hope and pray there is a possible refund for the difference. :wizard:

Ooooh, that totally stinks. We nearly didn't dock at CC on my VR day- it took a few tries. I had some relief knowing that I would at least get back the $1000 and still have a deck 7 ceremony probably (it was somewhat windy and bad currents). I had been assurred at the time that if for any reason the CC ceremony couldn't go on, I would get the $$ back (difference) and would end up with either deck 7 or Sessions. I was okay with that.

But that quote says if they know prior to the day- which I think most times when the ship can't get to CC, it's only known after an attempt has been made to dock. Or at least, the decision is made that morning. On my March cruise the captain decided not to dock at CC due to impending bad weather later in the day... but that was after we got all the way there, and didn't pull in. After DCL's debacle with the Magic getting stuck there in February, I suspect the captain will not want to try docking anytime they think there's going to be bad weather coming- just like what happened to us.

And it says if the CC location is already set up there is no refund. Well, does anyone know if it is the ship employees that set up, or is it the employees who live on the island? I assume the chairs and podium are stored on the island...?

Call us crazy, but we're going to take our chances and still go with a CC package :lmao:
I have been reading a lot of PJs & I'm loving it because I was having a hard time finding any info on DCL weddings or vow renewals, specially never having been on a Disney Cruise.
After reading that it could be hit or miss with the onboard photographers,I'm toying with the idea of hiring a photographer that is not affiliated with Disney to go on the cruise with us? I've seen a couple of people were able to get a deal where they would pay for the cruise for 2 in exchange of CD of all the photos. That would be great if I could found someone to agree to such a deal.
I guess I should start a PJ, UH? :)

wow 139 pages. i have a lot of reading to do.

we're talking about renewing our vows in for our 10th anniversary but since it's July 1st I'm wondering if it will be too hot and should consider doing it in January (the month we usually go to WDW)

Hi I'm Karen and I"m a planningholic

our anniversary is in just a few weeks, but we did our VR last december when it was cheaper and right before the holidays....it was a great time.

good luck with your planning.

We did ours in January 2 years ago and the weather was fabulous.

Does anyone have pictures of the current CC ceremony site or where to find them? I might be mistaken but I swore I read that since they made some changes/added to CC the old ceremony site is no longer the ceremony site? I'm not sure though :confused3

TIA everyone!
