I called to get a price this morning for another trip and the nice CM asked to verify my pin...she actually put it in the system or verified that it was indeed in there. They had availability, so we're now deciding on whether to go both months or just the original.

I just called to pay off my May trip and got a very nice, talkative CM (Monica Lee). I asked her about applying an AP code if they came out and if an AP code didn't come out about adding the DDP. Of course she said that wouldn't be a problem and then I told her I was thinking about canceling both my May and my Sept trips anyway, because of the bad taste this 40% off mess has left in my mouth. She knew immediately what I was talking about and asked if I was one that got it or if I was one that had been refused. I told her I had called several times and was refused each time. She then asked me to give her my dates and she'd see what she could do. I still couldn't use any of the three PINs (even though my dates fall within the dates of the PINs). She said that Disney was very upset about this 'mess up' and that the CMs had been warned again this morning that if they booked the codes without checking that the PINs were attached to the person's household that it could mean their job. She went on to say that they were all aware that pkgs had been improperly booked using the PINs and that they were told that Disney was looking into it and the CMs who booked them could still lose their jobs. I asked her, what about the people who were able to book them and she said the CMs had asked the same question this morning and were told no way was Disney honoring that many pkgs, that "they were booked with illegal PIN codes the people didn't qualify for and that was illegal", and the people who did so would be notified by Disney as soon as they had all the cases isolated.

Of course I have a feeling Disney is telling each caller what they expect to hear though, because people who were able to get the 40% off without a PIN have posted that the CMs they spoke to haven't said anything about them losing their discount and that Disney will probably honor them, so who knows what's going to happen? I told the CM I didn't want anyone to lose their codes, I just wanted to book another trip myself for Nov or Dec using the same code every one else has used. She laughed and apologized that I wasn't going to be able to do so.

Very interesting. It sounds like Disney is going to take a tough stance on this. It's the third posting I have read today where the person was basically told the same thing.

Oh, that is just so harsh to fire people for an obvious error on Disney's part. :confused3 I was one of the lucky ones to book a trip without the card in hand (it was sent to a previous address, so I'm guessing I was in there anyway). We gave both addresses and the CM had no problem putting us in there, and I'm guessing some of the folks who were lucky to book the 40% probably had the pins from previous addresses as well.

Either way, I booked our initial trip without the card and didn't think this was an issue at the time. If I wasn't reading here, I still wouldn't think it was a big deal, but I wouldn't have known about the code either. ;) I will say that I'm glad I have the card, otherwise I would have cancelled it for the upgraded resort. There was another poster (can't remember her name, but really nice poster), who booked a grand gathering and cancelled hers because she was nervous about the check-in thing. I would have done the same thing.

It's like everyone says, it's all speculation and until someone receives a phone call, or letter...we won't know.

I'm on hold right now while a CM double checks the new upgrade e-mail for me. She made sure I had a pin and that it matched my name because she said there are "public posts out there on the internet" that people are calling trying to use whenn the pins are specific to those they were sent to. Just waiting on what's available since I'm her first call with this e-mail today.

Uh-Oh.... This isn't sounding very good. I tried the code on a previously booked trip, but it wasn't good for my dates. The CM said I was getting a discounted rate already:confused3 and the code price would have been the same as the price I was already booked at. So the other day I get a new confirmation in the mail and it has the z** code listed on it. It wasn't on the old one. Do you think I should expect a call?

Tracy:

So far nobody has been contacted about a problem with their reservation.

There have been no changes to reservations initiated by the Walt Disney Company.

Until one of these things happen.. we're all sitting tight. From the sounds of your explanation - they could remove the code from your booking and the price wouldn't change anyway.. so .. nothing to worry about that I can see.

People seriously think about what is going on here. If you call and say you are upset about the 40% mess and you did not get the discount but others did, do you truly think they are going to admit they screwed up and tough luck for you. No they aren't. They are going to tell you exactly what they think you want to hear.

And when someone else calls worried about their reservation that did get the discount they are going to tell them what they want to hear too.

As I said in an earlier thread unless Disney has specifically told you something personally regarding "your" reservation, anything they tell someone else has nothing to do with you and your situation.

I agree

What a bunch of rubbish!

Noone is threatening the CM's with losing their jobs as a result of these codes being used incorrectly.

ABC/Disney is not considered an "at will employer". There is a very long documented process for firing an individual without cause.

Whoever is repeating this is very mistaken...or I suspect just making things up to start a frenzy on the boards. If that is the case very SAD!

Central Reservations Office=CRO. If you go to the opening page of the forums, on the right it says -'abbreviations'- There is a whole list of them. I swear just when I think I'm figuring them out , people make up new ones. Good luck!

Interesting...I know someone who just booked today, and to her knowledge has no pin...in fact, before a couple of weeks ago when she went with me, she hadn't been since she was 12, and Disney does not have her address, home or email. She got a Value resort with one of the codes.

The CM offered it to me. I would like to hear from people who got the code and did not have the pin. So far, I have not read a single posting about "while changing my days on my reservation, the CM said" a)I'll be fired for letting you have this discount b) a letter has gone out to all CRO employees threatening them with job loss if they give a discount without the pin attached or c) expect a call cancelling your reservation since you did something "illegal." The only people who are posting these statements seem to be people who didn't get the discount. ***I just spoke to CRO for the second time in 48 hours(I recently had the pin show up with name) to mainly clear this up- Are people who got the 40% discount by passing on a code that they heard about(no PIN) going to lose their reservation? I was assured a second time that "No, Disney will honor these discounts. We realize that not everyone qualified but these reservations are safe." I was told that making changes to one of the non-PIN discount reservations is probably not a good idea. SO- Write in if you have the non-pin code and WDW is trying to take your ressie away. I am not going to worry about this. Threehearts

a)I'll be fired for letting you have this discount

I still have a hard time believing Disney is going to fire someone for offering discounted packages to people. In my opinion, I don't think people who got the discount are going to have issues with this whole thing.

I posted my experience this morning to spare some of the Dis folks possible embarassment if trying to book today. I've called on 4 separate occasions over the last week and the last 3 times, I was told the same thing (bring the card, verify the pin, etc...). Prior to all this "junk" no one asked me a thing. They said all is fine with my reservation, etc...

Not trying to stir up trouble. I'm just saying that Disney is obviously being a little more particular...perhaps I shouldn't have phrased it "cracking down." I thought I was helping out...I'll think twice next time. :)

Don't think twice about helping people, everyone is obviously baffled by this whole thing.
