Disney considering $15 a night resort fee?

I've come to expect it. Disney doesn't care about you or your family. They are a for profit business with a goal of making money and I understand that. Just like with any other business, if you don't like the product or feel it is too expensive then take your money elsewhere. If enough people are upset, then show Disney how you feel by not going. Only then will they feel the pressure to adjust

Bad enough it's $15 extra per adult after 2, but then add on $15 more a night for more...is crazy! We don't use airport transportation....we use the bus service, but could easily drive to the parks too. The only thing we would use is the wifi because we have AP and Magic bands from that and previous stays. They do this, it's going to set many away from onsite staying. I know it will with us, $30 extra a day.

We're definitely going late Nov - early Dec. I was going to wait and see if Disney comes out with room discounts early May before booking. Now with this possibility of a resort fee being implemented am I better to book the room now.

If I book now and put down my deposit will I avoid the resort fee if it happens as my rates are set. Or will I end up paying the resort fee as my reservation isn't paid in full until I arrive.

I am getting PIN codes at the moment and I know as soon as I book those will stop.

Not sure which way to go. Always want to save a few bucks where I can. I just don't want to end up paying more if I can avoid it by booking now.

Yeah, worry about them at this point, they were just part of a survey, you don't need to factor them in.

As other people have said, the resort fee is just a rumor right now. But if it were to happen then typically resort fees are additional charges that are tacked on to the room regardless of how much you paid for it and when you booked it.

Thanks for all the feedback. Here's hoping they see the light and don't tack this one on any time soon.

Resort fee is nothing close to confirmed, but everyplace I have stayed with a resort fee, you do not pay it when you book. Either it is paid when you check in, or it is added to your bill nightly while you are at the resort. So if it does come to pass, it will not matter when you booked.

I understand that Disney is a business and they are out to make money - I really do. That's why the ticket, food and room price increases irritate me but I keep going. I just think that a "resort fee" is an underhanded, sneaky - well, crappy way to make more money. It's bad enough that there are so many taxes and other fees added onto a hotel room price (not just at Disney), but this is another way you see a room price when you first look online, and then the total is so much higher. In fact, this is worse. Because all of that other stuff shows up on the total when you book, and if I remember right from other hotels with resort fees you don't see those until the bill at the end of the stay. Maybe Disney would be different on that and you would see it when you put the room in your cart, at least that would be better.

I would so much prefer the room just be $15 more, I know it's a mental thing but it's just the way I feel. Then keep what we already get for "free" free. Again, it's the principle of it.

If their prices weren't so much higher than comparable surrounding hotels I wouldn't care so much about the resort fee. The cost of all those extras are already covered in their inflated room prices. We stayed offsite for years, I don't mind doing that again if it comes down to it. The value has to be worth the cost for me.

Just a survey question, nothing more. They ask many questions on surveys, means nothing at this point. I would hate to see that implemented, and with Disneys obvious greed lately with exorbitant price hikes, I can understand why we are all panicking.

Booking out of fear of a potential resort fee is not ridiculous in my book. You're only chance of avoiding it if it is implemented is already having booked a room. And that's just a chance but if it will put your mind at ease I'd go ahead and book. I don't know anything about pins though, never gotten one so I don't know the odds on waiting for a better pin. My bottom line: what will give you peace of mind? That can be worth a few bucks in itself.

I'll play devil's advocate ( because I'm jet lagged and mean as a 3 legged dog right now). Unless you buy a package and pay in full right away, there's really no guarantee that they wouldn't tack on a resort fee, if that's really the route they decide to go. Read the fine print. Even though the ink is made from pixie dust, it says something like Disney retains the right to make changes without notice. A resort fee is an add on ( mandatory yes, but still an add on). It doesn't affect your room rate or park ticket prices, or DDP cost which ARE guaranteed prices once you've put a deposit on them. Actually even those can change if you try to change any aspect of a booked trip.

Again...when the fee hits I'll debate it. Disney doesn't make decisions based on our debates on here. Otherwise, we'd have the 28 ounce steak for one back at Yachtsman and assigned seating at Wishes DP.
