DISNEY COLLEGE PROGRAM - A Spring 2013 Adventure! *COMPLETE* 11/20

Gah, some people....

I will admit, I am SO JEALOUS that you get to spend so much time in the parks and eat all kinds of Disney food and still look amazing as all get out! But rather than sink to the level of insulting you over it (seriously, what well adjusted person does that?!), all it does it make me look forward to your updates even more so I can live vicariously through you. Because make no mistake about it, the people leaving you nasty or sarcastic comments are jealous because they are stuck at work and gain 10 pounds just from looking at your food pictures. So many people, myself included, have such an appreciation for the fact that you take time out of your life to make these updates and let us live through the CP with you! I only just started reading along with your most recent October TR because we had gone around the same time, but I'm so happy that I did so that I could be part of this thread from the beginning! It is so fun to read the enthusiasm in your posts, they literally put a smile on my face. So don't let the haters get you down!!

:goodvibes

Hi Jess! I've been following along, but didn't want to comment until I'd gotten caught up. After reading yesterday's update I definitely felt like I should stop lurking and let you know that I'm reading along and think you're doing an awesome thing and handling yourself in a mature and responsible manner.

In reading your report I've actually thought to myself on numerous occassions that I would be doing the CP the same way you are doing it, by getting as much out of it as you can! When I was in college a few (ok...10) years ago I had to choose between the CP and studying abroad as my major wouldn't accomodate both. I chose to study abroad in London, and while I regret not getting to do the CP, I still feel that my semester abroad was the greatest experience of my life. I threw myself into it headlong, just as you are doing, which is why I got so much out of it, including the inspiration that lead me to my career. Keep up the good work!

The awesome thing about the Internet is that it allows us to share our stories and interests with people who we normally wouldn't get to connect with in our daily lives. The negative thing is that people also use the anonymity of the internet as a weapon to say things that are completely inappropriate and that they would normally never say in face-to-face conversation both because they know it is wrong and because they are cowards.

Anybody who is taking the time to use your fun and lighthearted trip report as an excuse to say vile things is somebody that doesn't deserve a second thought. People like that use their time to drag others down because they don't have the confidence and drive to work to achieve great things of their own.

You seem to have a strong family and friend base, and those are the people whose opinions truly matter. Keep your head up!

Jess,

Be true to yourself. I quote from John Jakes ...

"Be yourself. Above all, let who you are, what you are, what you believe, shine through every sentence you write, every piece you finish."

I believe that is exactly what you have done with your writing. :cheer2:

I am thoroughly enjoying your report. Love the Coronado. Have fun on your upcoming vacation with Preston!pixiedust:

<<<<those Mickey waffles with fresh bananas and strawberries!! Oh my God.

I'm just sittin here scrolling through all your food pics and dying slowly. I'm having Disney withdrawal SO HARD right now!!!

Your life is perfect <3

Hi Jess,

As a mom, I know your parents must be so proud of you. You seem like a super sweet and kind person, not to mention beautiful but smart and independent too! You can (and did) strongly and eloquently stand up for yourself. I love that! I know your parents do as well.

As a Disney fan, I thank you for sharing your DCP experience with us. It is great to see those little tidbits of Disney life. I love all of your pictures and stories. Last year we only got to experience one day in the parks so your TR helps bring a little of that Disney magic home for me. I am in need of a Disney fix in a big way. Please keep the pictures and stories coming! :goodvibes

Don't let the negative people get you down. I think you do a terrific job of telling your story and love for all things Disney. It is awesome to read your updates, especially being up here in cold, snowy Minnesota!! Enjoy your time in the DCP, it will go by all too fast :thumbsup2

I been a lurker for a while reading your trip report,Got to say i love your one the most Don't let those people bother you that much,And i will be probally staying at CS june 17 -21 so i will say hi if i happen to see you.

Hi Jess!
Thank you so much for doing this TR...I look forward to reading it. I can't believe people would be so brazen as to insult you about what you spend, eat and how much time you spend in the parks. They are probably jealous because they can't. I know I love hearing all about your adventures and wish I had had the opportunity to do the same thing. You are one very lucky girl! Don't let the negative comments get you down, try to remember that there are more people who love your TR and are happy for you than those who are jealous.

Enjoy your vacation with Preston. I don't know if I am going to be able to wait almost a week for an update, that is so long, as I am sure you will be very busy and won't want to take up your precious time with Preston to update. I wouldn't blame you I wouldn't want to either. Have a great week!!!

OH MY GOD, the last time I commented on this thread it had like 2394832098 less pages than it does right now. I love how for every 1 person who is rude on Twitter/IG, there seems to be 50 people on here who love you. :cheer2:

Spent a couple of hours yesterday and this evening reading your TR/CP report. Thank goodness for your links!

Thanks so much for sharing your experiences with all of us. I can't tell you how much fun this 40+ year old adult is having reading along! :)

I just found your report today. I am loving reading about all your Disney adventures. Keep up the good work:thumbsup2

Hi Jess:wave2:

I just wanted to say that, first of all, I have really enjoyed reading your trip reports. Writing and being able to keep people's attention in no easy task and you are an excellent storyteller! Secondly, like so many others have stated, I am so sorry that you had to deal with ignorant people and felt that you had to actually defend your actions. People need to grow up! I think this TR that you are doing right now is neat idea and I am just happy to have you take the time to share your experience with all of us. My husband and I started taking our kids to Disney World two years ago and have been lucky enough to turn it into a once a year family vacation, and now both of our kids want to work there when they grow up lol! I even told our 11yr old son about the DCP, well what I have learned so far from you TR, and he sooo wants to do that one day. Well first he has to tackle middle school in the fall, so one experience at a time anyways! Again thank you for sharing and please do not let a few stupid people get you down girl!! ~Jenn :)

Oh Jess, I'll just put it out there. You are inspirational to people your own age & people my age (old enough to be your Mom) :laundy: are wishing they had done exactly what you are doing right now!
I love reading this b/c it is getting me more & more excited for my own trip with my kids close to your age but also b/c I share it with my very college driven 16 year old daughter!
Not everyone your age lives life to it's fullest & we think it is FABULOUS! And I'm sure we can all see that you are making great decisions! Look where you are living! Ummm...DOY!! LOL! Geez, where are all of those drunken pics that I see of other peeps your age? You are doing amazing things & we want you to keep having fun doing it!
Have the time of your life & thanks for sharing it with the rest of the Dis-at home-World! princess:

I don't want to focus on any of the negative remarks or suggestions that u received... It is sad that people can't keep their negative thoughts to themselves. Shame on them.

Anywho I just wanted to tell you I am thoroughly enjoying your report... Hearing about life in the DCP.... Experiencing your experience along with u via your report..... Just LOVE it. The pics are wonderful and the reports n pics of the food ....simply fantastic!!

Keep it up.! Live life and enjoy where you are right now (in life, in Disney, in the DCP).... Enjoy it all.

I'm a little behind but i'm going to post anyway ;), those people who make negative comments are most likely jealous of you, I've read all of your reports and I LOVE them. I only get to go to Disney every few years and so I live vicariously through the rest of you and I'm a total fan of yours. I think your an incredible young lady with a heart of gold, a great head on your shoulders, your obviously ambitious, entertaining, courteous, intelligent and incredibly lucky to be living your dream. Pay no attention to those who need to get a life because you are living yours. :grouphug:

I can't wait to hear about your vacation with Preston and your friends! They're lucky to have someone who's practically a professional tour guide with them!

Hi Jess,

I just wanted to come out of 'lurking-dom' and say that I am absolutely loving following your DCP adventure - it sounds like an amazing experience. Learning about Disney and working there must be so inspirational - and then getting to go to the parks on your time off - wow, so lucky (I mean you could ride Toy Story Mania and then have a fresh starring rolls cupcake nearly every day - I don't think I could cope with that level of awesomeness!!)!! :rotfl2:

Your passion and excitement for Disney is so lovely to read and shines throughout the report! Thank You for taking the time to share this!

Have a fantastic vacation with your friends and Preston!

I normally do not post but I wanted to add one more POSITIVE comment to this report.

I think it is amazing that you are following a path that you know in your heart is what you are meant to do. I truly feel as if you are an inspiration for all young adults to hold their dreams close and do what is necessary for those dreams to come true. We are the lucky ones to be given the honor to share your experience with you.

I know you have stated that this 'TR' is also a journal of sorts for yourself but is really a wonderful, uplifting and inspiring story that you take the time to craft in such a uniquely 'Jess' way that makes the reader feel as if they are reading a lovely book of a determined young girl living her life with passion and kindness and as a bonus we are immersed in the setting and the characters!

If my son grows up with half of your passion for something in his life I will honestly be a very lucky mom for I will know that he will have a successful life.

Thank you for sharing this experience with us. I can guarentee you have inspired someone to do something that they would not have attempted before 'meeting' you.

Good luck in all of your future endevors, I can't wait for the next chapter!

Lisa

PS The last time I checked most people eat 3 meals a day with a snack or 2 in between. Unfortunately my snacks consist of an apple or a candy bar, not Disney cupcakes or frozen bananas but hey at least I get to enjoy the Disney food through you!

Since I never even knew about the CP when I was in college I am enjoying getting to experience it vicariously through you :) Enjoy your time with your man and we will be here waiting for you to read all about it :) pixiedust:

On a side note, "vicariously" has got to be the most popular word in the comments session of this journal. ;)
