Oh I didnt know that. So this would be a way for me to help a family member pay of thier criise for thier final payment date even though they wouldnt have the money for about 3 months later. What did you mean exactly about the 99 or 101 payment?
I forgot one time that in order to qualify for 0%, the amount charged at any given time must be at least $101. I was rebooking a dummy date while onboard and only put myself on the reservation to keep the deposit amount low. I think it was around $92 and that particular charge did not qualify for 0%.
Here's some other tips I've learned when it comes to the 0% deal and
DCL.
1. If we're going to use Disney transfers, I don't add them onto the reservation until around 1 month prior to cruising. Why put them on early and then you have to pay for them also if you want to be able to log online early to book Palo, excursions, etc? So I make my final payment with no transfers, then book my online activities at 120 days prior (or 90 or whatever yours is). Then I add the transfers on as a separate transaction. For us that's $280. So if I end up doing this 3 months after I have paid in full, the transfer amount will have a later expiration date for the 6 months. I hope I'm making sense.
2. Anything charged during the cruise to your onboard account does not qualify for 0% but if you prepay, then it will. So also last minute we prepay gratuities and any excursions we know for sure we'll be doing.
So let's say for a 7 nt cruise our gratuities are always $336. Then we opt to do an excursion that is $150 pp x 4 = $600.
So our statement will list, as separate promotional transactions, each charge with it's own expiration date. Like this:
DCL $5000 5-1-14 Expires 11-1-14 (cruise fare)
DCL $280 8-1-14 Expires 2-1-15 (transfers)
DCL $600 9-1-14 Expires 3-1-15 (excursion)
I hope I'm not rambling but it sure makes it easier to pay for things like this and it extends the 6 months out as long as possible.
Your TA or DCL CM can help if you want to prepay anything. To prepay excursions you just buy yourself an onboard credit.
