I am very upset and the more I have thought about it today the more I get a bad taste in my mouth. We booked this trip a year and a half ago. We sail on the Wonder on the 18th. I got the tickets Saturday and noticed the cabin numbers were different. I called my agent today and she said the cruise line has the right to change your cabin without notice. We have 4 cabins and they changed them all. I donot think this is right. We were on the 7th deck and now we are on the 6th. We were toward the middle and now we are at the aft of the ship. Does anyone have any advise? Is this a good floor or is the 7th better. Disney will not talk to me because we used a travel agent and she is worthless. I will NEVER use Cruise Holidays again. Not just because of this but numerous unprofessional and poor customer service issues. Anyway this is not the thread for that. I really need to figure out what to do before we leave next weekend for Disney. HELP...anyone

Since you say that your TA isn't very helpful, what are the new cabin numbers? Is it possible that you have been upgraded? They will list the original category you paid for on your docs if DCL upgraded you. That's what happened to us 11/15. We were moved to a cat 8 on deck 7 but it still read that we were in a cat 11.

I just looked into my passporte'r book I would also need to know your old room numbers and your new ones. I see cat 5 and 11 on deck 7 midship but on deck 6 Aft I see 6, 7, 11. I would also agree with the last poster you most likley got an free upgrade. I am crossing my fingers for you

We were aft 6108. It was category 6. We enjoyed being near the aft elevators because it took forever for the midship ones. I am guessing you got upgraded. Sorry about your bad experience with your TA. Enjoy your cruise!

my guess is you have been upgraded , what are the old/new cabin numbers?

DCL can feel free to change my cabin.. like how about to the Roy Suite ;)

Can't blame you for having your feathers ruffled if you had picked certain rooms together a yr and half in advance. I would call Disney, explain my situation, that my TA is not helping and as Dis changed your rooms they should give you some info. Sure, it
could possibly be an upgrade, but are they together as you orginally requested? If that is important to you, you need to get it resolved before you cruise. Enjoy, cruising during the holidays is wonderful! Good luck, it will all work out. :)

I know I felt upset because of losing 5622 on the Halloween cruise due to "dry dock problems". This is a cat 6, deck 5 Aft room that we are very partial to since there are NO neighbors to our left on the verandah.

We were "upgraded" to deck 7 - mid. This was NOT a better room, just higher up - and to me, higher up is more boat motion and nausea!

But these things do happen, and we just have to "moan, groan and complain for a little while" then let it go. I had my month to do it and I think you still have a little more time to whine about this so feel free!!!!

Hugs,
Rae

Yes it is an upgrade, but not a real one. We were in 7120-7128 now we are in 6144-6150. I can not amagine what we will be able to see as it is almost the back of the ship and only two rooms adjoin. We were looking forward to being on deck 7. I called Disney and all they could tell me was it was an upgrade, but that our TA (such that she is) was the one who they should be talking to. The Cm was nice enough to tell me that they notified the TA on 10-8-03 and guess what. My travel agent denied any knowledge and said Disney never notified her. Now I do not know what to do. I did e-mail Disney and will wait to see what they have to say. Otherwise, I am going to suck it up and just enjoy my family. I sure hope they get it right at AKL and put us together in adjoining rooms. Thanks for the advice and support.

faireygod mother,

I just looked up your rooms in the passporter. You were in fact upgraded from a category 7 navigator's veranda which is enclosed to category 6 verandas which are open. The rooms you gave of 7120-7128 are actually Aft as well. You are just a few staterooms down from where you were going to be on deck 7. Sounds like your TA really messed up the information she gave you to begin with since you were not midship at all.

IMO these will be great rooms for you. You are at the end of a hallway so there wont be nearly as much noise as you would have midship. Also, 2 of the dining rooms are all located Aft so it will be a short trip for you from your room each evening. The other is midship deck 4 so still not bad. We were in 7010 Forward and really liked being on Deck 7. You are one deck closer to the pools too. In a way, it is good that this happened since if you had found that your rooms were not actually midship, you probably would have started your vacation on a very bad note. Also, none of the rooms you listed from your original or current room assignments adjoin in the DCL book or the Passporter. It actually looks like 6148 & 6150 have the slightly larger verandas.

I really hope that you enjoy your trip!

I am sorry to hear that your TA never called you I wonder if you could cancel and rebook?. I dont rembember when you are leaving. When I looked in my book your old rooms and new rooms seem to both on Aft of the ship deck six has slightly larger verandahs. I did read stateroom #7120 used to be a category 5 or 6 and have a partiall obstructed view from the verandah due to the ships hull design. But it is open, where all the other category 7 are enclosed. I belive all 6"s are open. I know this does not help you but I wanted to share I hope eveything works out for your family.

If you have a picture of The Magic look at the second row with four portholes. From the plans you have the open verandas to the rear of the ship from them. There is no obstruction that I can see. If you look one deck up, your original rooms were the partially obstructed open verand & 3 of the portholes. I would definantly like your new rooms. :) Relax! You are going to have a great time!

I think 6144-6150 — especially 6148 and 6150 — would be wonderful staterooms.

As lbgraves noted, your old Category 7 staterooms and your new Category 6 staterooms are all aft.

Your new staterooms have metal below the verandah railings, but they're still much more open than most of your previous Category 7 Navigator's Verandah staterooms.

6148 and 6150 will allow you to look not only to the side, but also (to some degree) back at the ships' wake. That's a spectacular view. And, as lbgraves also noted, the DCL brochure indicates that 6148 and 6150 have larger-than-usual verandahs. Very nice!

Upgrades are rare, and this one may only be a slight improvement. But it's my opinion that the only thing to be upset about is your TA's lack of proper communication.

I'm not sure what you mean that only two rooms adjoin.

If your staterooms are now 6144, 6146, 6248, and 6150, they all adjoin — they're directly next to each other. (But none of them connect — there are no internal doors from one stateroom to another.)

Your old staterooms did not all adjoin. 7120 through 7128 is a range of 5 staterooms, but you said you only booked 4 of them. So you were separated by another party. (None of your original four rooms connected either.)

I can understand why you're upset by an unexpected, improperly communicated change of stateroom assignments, but it's my guess that you'll be very pleased when you see the rooms.

Enjoy your cruise!

Thank you all for the advice. I am going to suck it up and shut up. We leave next week and I need to focus on the positive. Thank you all for pointing out the positive for me. I do not want to make this a self fulfilling prophecy. I am going to love it and that is all that matters. When I return I will write nasty letters to the corporate office of the TA, but for now I will focus on the magic Disney has to offer. Thanks for setting me straight!

You could always do a conference call with your TA and DCL is you wanted. Good luck and enjoy.

That's the way to handle it - just enjoy the Magic!!!

By the way, I learned something pretty interesting about the fate of my stateroom 5622 -

It wasn't ready by the October 25 cruise due to completing dry dock carpet replacement -
Don't know if it was available for the 11/1 cruise for passengers BUT the following cruise 11/8 - the pipes burst above 5622 and 5624 (especially the bed of 5624) and the everyone had to be moved around.

Sometimes there is a reason for these little annoyances in our lives that will make sense later - or maybe that's just some pop-psych mumbojumbo that someone said to make us feel good when we don't get our way!!!!

Take care and enjoy!

Rae

You're gonna love this area!!! It's incredibly convenient to so much......the "back stairs" to the upper decks is fun and private..... and your view is excellent! Have a ton of fun!!!:sunny:

Everything happens for a reason faireygod mother. Your TA was inept so that you wouldn't use CH ever again. And your room was changed so that you will have a wonderful time on your cruise.
Don't think of sucking it up, think of it as letting it roll off. You're going to have a great time!

And a little pixie dust for good measure.
