was sitting in a meeting on Wednesday when phone lit up with a 407 number - naturally, I joked it was, "Disney calling me".

Lo and behold, it was DISNEY. They were calling to say, welcome homes; we see you are visiting soon; any special occasions; we see you have been a member for 20+ years; anything we can do etc....

Sure made that work day more magical

That's actually really sweet! Did you give them anything to roll with?

Was it the membership magic team who called. Did they try to sell you a MM experience like bowling or fishing?

Thats awesome to hear, I just bought into DVC this past week so its great hearing things like this since it appears most of the these forums are just filled with negative feedback haha

The feedback may seem negative but newbies need to know what ownership will be like before they buy. Membership Magic who makes these calls are checking in with members with upcoming reservations. They are dues funded and usually mention the membership magic activities available at extra cost.

We have our first DVC trip coming up in early September. I'm very excited! I've heard a lot of good and bad reviews but none of the bad ones have phased me yet. I've dreamed of staying at GF since I was 10 and I finally get to (in the the villas of course)...it would take a lot to to make me upset with DVC while staying there!

It's nice to see posts where people have something nice to say about DVC!

VGF is a beautiful resort, and IMO budgeted differently than others because Disney considers it it's flagship resort.

I had a voicemail last week, wishing us a happy trip in 3 weeks as well :-)

No - not one attempt at selling anything - I'd have reported it here if they did ;-)

I don't have a problem with them discussing membership magic and the available events and experiences in addition to answering questions about the upcoming vacation, I think that it's a nice touch. What I don't understand is why it is so inconsistent. I was told by a DVC CM that the membership magic team was formed to sell experiences, if that is true, they aren't doing a very good job of it.

Reminded me of the early days - when there was only one DVC

I received a call as well. Was kind of surprised as we had never gotten one before. No attempt to sell us anything either.

I received a similar call last week. Seemed pointless. Not sure why DVC needs to call and say have a nice trip.

Zero questions on if you had tickets or dining? Or needed help planning your stay? We're not talking hard sell but leading questions that could lead towards it.

On the contrary, I think its a nice service touch many are failing to recognize as such. To each his own though.

Many of us would rather have the cost of doing this go towards lowering MS wait times or something else and don't find a value on paying CMs to say hi over the phone. As you say, to each their own, but to me it's unnecessary fluff that I'm helping to pay for.

I have a question. We are taking the grandbabies on a cruise on the Dream in December. Can we use points to book the concierage level? How do you do that? Also, we are thinking of a future trip to Alunia. How far in advance can we book that?
