The special olympics game sounds like a lot of fun - I sure hope you don't get rained out.
It's awesome that the Grand Princess gets to go with this time - I am glad you were able to make that work out.
Good luck sewing, and running errands, hopefully you are able to get it all done.
D~
Special Olympics was rained out. There is expected to be a pretty rotten Spring Storm right smack in the middle of the day's festivities...and it is still pretty muddy out there right now. (in fact, Mr Max just showed me HOW muddy when he came in this morning...he evidently LOVES to sit in the mud! I think I just now got all the mud up from two weeks ago!)
So, today we will be going to watch the Grand Princess play soccer (indoors). I have not really been in my sewing room all week...except for a bit of rearranging and straightening up... I am a good two weeks behind now...
and I thought my errands were bad. I had to go to the neurologist to pick up a prescription for J. They won't call it in
This afternoon I had to take J for his pre surgery clearance.
I have come to believe my errands are God's way of telling me I shouldn't make plans! The more plans I make the more errands I end up having... either that or I need to tell people no...
Oooh...I'm jealous that you are heading to the bach in 50 days or so. I'm so tired of our winter weather. Today it is 50, but we had rain/sleet/snow flurries this morning.
I love that hubby wants more restaurants and you can't fit them in. Men...they will drive you nuts.
Hope your sewing is going well.
Today we have to get some more shopping in for that Beach trip...
Miss B is a strange person when it comes to clothes (and it is not all just being almost 14...she is really strange!) She will not wear pants unless they are skin tight! She literally looks like she was poured in...but she will not wear shorts! Because they show too much leg! She will only wear Capri's...but again they must be skin tight! She will not wear a regular swim suit...because they show too much skin... but she will wear swim shorts and a rash guard like top with sleeves... She will not wear sleeveless shirts, but will wear camis with bras built in them.... She will not wear skirts...but will occasionally wear a dress...with leggings underneath...
I love being the mother of a teen daughter, I love being the mother of a teen daughter, I love being the mother of a teen daughter!!!
Husband is now talking seriously about adding more days to our Disney trip..even though I told him it would be cheaper to just add the Deluxe dining plan on...
Speaking of which....
Tell me about the water parks. Since Mr D is CONVINCED the song by The Vamps is "She needs a Waterpark" (Wildheart)...we had to add a water park on to the trip (there goes my last day ...my idea of this trip was casual, relaxing, and lots of resting...with only one...ONE park day!) Since we have NEVER done a water park(except for Lake Lanier Islands about 20 years ago!) I have zero idea which one to do... and zero idea which one is good, much less best!
Since our current plans only call for one water park day, I have to decide which one...and have to be ready to defend my choice to the family! LOL!
Now for time to do a Mommy brag! I know those on Facebook have seen it already...but I am very proud of Mr D!
He is VERY socially awkward. Until this year at school, he NEVER started conversations with anyone except family. Never spoke to strangers, and would shy away from any contact...
Yesterday, his best friend (who is no longer his girlfriend, but has remained his best friend) was sitting beside him at the art table. She has CP and spends most of the day in a wheelchair, but sometimes prefers to sit at the table in a chair. They were drawing dragons. (?) She started having a seizure. She fell out of the chair and Mr D slid under her as she fell so she would not hit the floor. He held her head and spoke very calmly to her telling her she was all right, and called over to the teacher to help.
The teacher pushed the emergency button while the para pro (who was closer to them) ran to them and started trying to make her comfortable. While the para pro took over ...Mr D stood nearby speaking to Mariah and telling her everything was all right.
The ambulance came and took her to the hospital.
After it was over, the class had a discussion about what had happened, and the class decided Mr D was a hero. He kept calm and got help.
I love the way their class teaches about each child's disability. They all know what things bother each other and how to react if something goes wrong. For instance one little boy hates loud noises...so if there is an unexpected loud noise they all tell him everything is ok..it is just a noise... Mr D's trigger is a certain teacher who locked him in a closet a few years ago and is currently at his school...when she comes around they all surround him so she can't get to him!
Mariah's problem at school is not seizures. Another little boy has seizures...but they all know what to expect when it happens. This was Mariah's first seizure.
This whole episode in Mr D's life has made me very teary...as we get closer to the anniversary of the accident. In three short weeks it will be 9 years since then. While it has been a LONG time ago, it seems like only yesterday when they told me he would never progress past a 3 year old. He would probably never walk, and would have to be fed through tubes. They told me he would only make it a year or two at best.
I am so happy they were wrong! So very, very wrong!
Kiss your kiddos!
