Disney Buffets Prices - OMG!!

I would do character meet and greets instead of paying for a character meal. I know all the same characters are not available, but come on is it really necessary to see specific ones all the time?

Yes, I know you have to wait your turn for character meet and greets, but in a way you are doing the same thing at buffet character meals. I've seen these meals take much longer; because, you want your character encounter.

Besides, after a few meet and greets maybe the kids will forget about wanting to see characters as much.

If you go early in the morning you can catch some meet and greets without too much of a wait.

Another option may be to give the child more spending money for souvenirs and forgetting about those character meals.

Count me in as an extremely frustrated and disappointed DVC Member. My husband I love Disney, and we frequent both coasts as often as possible. For the first time, I'm seeing a huge advantage of spending more time in California and in part due to the overall quality and pricing of food.

We have always considered dining a big part of what we love about WDW, but the pricing, in an effort to make the dining plan seem like a steal, has become a real source of resentment for us.

WDW has been more of a resort vacation for us versus Disneyland, and that means more days. Well, heck, who wants to spend $50 per person per meal for 7-10 days?

Grrr......

Agreed! Every word. 110%! We used to LOVE the dining almost as much as the parks. Not anymore. We now eat some meals in our villa and go off site too. Very few left on property anymore. Just not the quality to be worth the price for us.

How else are they going to justify raising the DDP costs?

I tend to prefer the buffets when I go because a sit-down dinner usually ends up being around 40-50 per person on the cheap end, but you don't get to stuff yourself silly over the course of a few hours ;)

Yeah, Disney buffets are pretty steep. With my wife and I, our daughter who is now considered an "adult" for meal purposes, and our two younger children, the cost for breakfast for our family at Crystal Palace would be $139.46 (that includes the 18% tip for the waiter who brings us our juice). Lunch and dinner are more and must be paid in gold bars.

We used to attend several buffets each trip, when we had fewer kids over 3yrs and when prices were a little lower. Last couple of trips we cut it down to one buffet per trip, but now we have cut them out completely (unless in future we happen to get a free dining package). Paying as much for one family meal as for a night in a Disney moderate level hotel is too much for us.

But there seem plently of people who can still afford it as the buffets mostly seem pretty busy.

$50 for Boma is wayyy to high! My budget remains the same weather prices go up or not. Getting less for your money is never appealing.

The buffets are a hard decision for my family, and we have decided to start leaving them out. My kid just doesn't eat enough to warrant the price.
