I just found out That I am going to have a baby. Due in early march. Hubby is trying to talk me OUT of disney, saying that it will be too much for a 8 month preg woman. Anyone been there done that?

Congratulations on your pregnancy. I just did Disney at 31 weeks pregnant, and I was surprised but I did fine! The exercise and constant intake of water was actually good for me, I think. We tried to avoid being in the parks during the hottest part of the day, and rested/sat down whenever I was able. Also, I found that walking was easier than standing in one spot for a long time.

Having said that though, if it's possible for you to go earlier in your pregnancy, I would do that. It wasn't possible for me due to DH's work schedule, but I gladly would have preferred going maybe around 20 weeks.

Good luck!

Personally, I would try to make the trip earlier if possible. My biggest concern would be early labor so far from home. Although my pregnancies were such that I probably would have been O.K., I highly doubt my OB would have approved the trip and there is a very likely chance yours won't either.

Oh congrats!!! As far as going 8 months pregnant, I'm not sure. I can see both pros and cons. Pros being last "getaway" before the baby, time to spend doting on child #1. As far as cons, remember each pregnancy is different mine were. 1 was uneventful and 1 was full of events (preterm, bedrest, high blood pressure) so I could have went with #1 prenancy but not #2. You don't know what's in store. Obviously if you were having complications you would stay home but . . . I don't know when you can cancel and get a full refund. If it were me, I would try to go earlier if possible, if not and you are doing well and your OB ok's it go for it.

Check with your OB, and finally do whats right for you and your baby.

Well, odds are we are going to have a homebirth, so no ob to fight with other what I can and can not do, lol.

And we cant do it much earlier. My husband does not get his vacation time till December.

If you are planning to fly, the airlines have cut off times in the pregnancy for flying (they don't want to take a chance of an in air delivery :scared1: ).
The airline may also need a letter from your doctor that says it's OK to travel toward the end of pregnancy. So, check with the airline to see what you will need.
This is a good article about air travel during pregnancy.

Also check if your insurance would cover you if you needed to go to a hospital there to deliver early. Many don't cover non-local hospital visits after 36 weeks, or possibly earlier.

I personally don't think I would enjoy being at Disney much past 32 weeks. By then I was so big nothing felt comfortable but my couch and a 1 mile walk felt like a marathon!

When in Dec. does DH get his time? Any possibility for a trip early December or in January (not New Years)? Those are great, cool, light crowds times to go.

We will be driving, as gas is gonna be cheaper then air fare and renting a car.

He gets his vacation time in early december, but he can not (noone in the company can) take vacation in december. Early jan might be doable.

I went at 32 weeks. I was fine the only thing I can caution I did swell up a bit. I just tried to stay away from salt. We would go back to the hotel for a swim and then a nap. The swim really helped out with all of the swimming. I did wear crocs and did stay well hydrated. I also was told by my doctor for every hour of walking i needed to sit for 10 mins. I had a blast and I also could go on everything except the rollercoasters and ToT. Just use your best jusdgement. Also we stayed at POFQ it was small enough that the walk to dining and busses were not bad at all.

I'm 32 weeks now, I couldn't imagine going this time a year pregnant - anytime a year for that matter. Too much walking for me. I couldn' enjoy myself. A few years back I did travel with a family and the wife was 8 months pregnant - in August. She did fine. I just couldn't personally do it. She had some wierd cravings - cereal with soy milk - oh and birthday cake.

Well, I think I am gonna convice hubby to go in min jan. That way I will be 7 months, not 8. LOL. I will let yall know if he agrees

I went at 20 weeks, and with this pregnancy it was way too much for me. It is such an individual decision - but I had an issue with my bones ahem..there.. and it made it miserable for me to walk. Of course, that's all you're doing at Disney..walking. The best park for "sitting" was Epcot - they have a TON of benches - the worst was AK, I had to sit on the ground a few times.

Well, if you really want a homebirth and to control what happens during your birth, then I definately would NOT go to WDW 8 months pregnant. Yes things can happen at anytime during pregnancy but being 36 weeks or more is cutting it a bit close.
If you have the baby out of town, would you have it at the hotel? In the car? Then you would have to call an ambulance as you would not have anyone else there such as a midwife to document the birth and take care of placenta, etc. I mean, would you just deliver the placenta at the hotel and toss it in the trash? I couldnt imagine throwing it in a cooler and driving it home.
It appears you dont live too far but I still wouldnt couldnt imagine being stuck in a car right after giving birth for that long, just my opinion of course.

If you go around 32 weeks and go into labor you would have to go to the hospital (i would hope) as baby would be preemie and would need some assistance.
