I wonder if I buy a wdw annual now for my aug trip when I go to DL in Nov will i be able to upgrade it to the premier.
Bug
Wonder what the upgrade cost is
Well, without the monthly payment option, that may prevent some folks from being able to get these new Premier passes for the whole family all at once, but it certainly seems worth it to get just one, and plunk down the $722 at one time. Even if I had to cough up $722 in one lump sum, I still think it is a great bargain for 6 theme parks, 2 water parks, DisneyQuest and ESPN, parking in both Anaheim and Orlando and discounts on hotels, food and merchandise, 365 days a year!!! I just wish I could go to Florida in the next year!! I would do a DLR Christmas trip and a WDW Christmastime trip!
Yes, if you purchase a Walt Disney World Resort Annual Pass, you will be able to present it at the Disneyland Resort and upgrade it to a Disney Premier Passport. The same applies vice versa - you will be able to present and upgrade your Disneyland Resort Annual Passport at any Walt Disney World Resort Guest Relations location to the Disney Premier Passport.
It would be the difference between the price paid for your Disneyland Resort Annual Passport and/or Walt Disney World Resort Annual Pass and the Disney Premier Passport price of $722.75.
I do have some other tidbits about this new Pass that y'all may be interested in:
Payment/Prices
Because of state laws, the pricing on this pass is a little odd.
The State of California does not impose sales tax on the sale of Theme Park Admission. As such, there is no sales tax paid on $350.00 of the Pass Price.
However, the State of Florida does impose such a tax. As such, a tax of $22.75 is imposed on $350.00 of the Pass Price. This brings the total price to $722.75.
Pass Prices will apply for all Guests ages 3 years and older.
At this time, the Disney Premier Passport will not be eligible for the Monthly Payment Plans offered to Southern California Residents by the Disneyland Resort.
Please note that this Annual Pass is only available at Walt Disney World Resort from any Guest Relations location. It is not purchaseable in Florida from the ticket booths.
Auto-Upgrades
Guests who held as of March 1, 2010 any valid Disneyland Resort Annual Passport AND one of the following Walt Disney World Resort Annual Passes will receive a complimentary Disney Premier Pass by mail:
- (Florida Resident) Premium Annual Pass
- (Florida Resident) Annual Pass
- Florida Resident Seasonal Pass
- Florida Resident Weekday Select Pass
At this time, the Epcot After 4PM Pass, as well as Annual Passes to the Walt Disney World Resort Water Parks and/or DisneyQuest in the Downtown Disney Area are not valid for the Auto-Upgrade.
Passholder Benefits
Disney Premier Pass Guests will receive Passholder Benefits equivalent to those accorded Disneyland Resort Premium Annual Passport and Walt Disney World Resort Premium Annual Pass Guests.
This includes complimentary parking, no blockout dates and discounts at a wide variety of Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort locations.

The only reason this would work for us is because we would go for a short weekend or (crazy that we are) for an overnighter, a few times a year. We typically go for a 4 day weekend in Oct and this year instead of DLR, we would be going to WDW for Xmas. We have gone to DL some years 4+ trips.
My question is about the WDW discounts though. At DL with the PAP we get the 10% off merch, is there anything like this there? What are the typical discounts on food and merch?
