Just spent 6 hours last night and tonight watching LOTR (1 & 2) so I haven't been around. I need to grab lunch but I'll check in later. Just wanted to say hi :)

Marsha, I am with you, I love PotC. I have to quietly admit I have seen it 5 times already and can't wait for it to come out in December!!!

Btw, JOHN!!! Where the heck are you??? I really do miss not having you around here!

Steph, congrats to the winning soccer team!!! And too cute what Meg said about the bless yous!

Lorraine, that stinks about your senior year in marching band. Ours switched my junior year and no one liked him. I was leading the band that year and most (not jokingly) told me I had more respect from them than our director did. He only lasted a year or two after I graduated from what I heard.

Lars, I have heard that crock pots are great for people on the go, but my problems is I don't stick around long enough in the day time to get them started :(

Oh my goodness Melissa, that phone call is too funny!!!!! Someone once told me that when the next telemarketer calls, ask them if they own or use whatever they are selling. He said he's gotten a few funny replies by doing that :teeth: Oh and congrats on 500 posts!!! We love having you here!!!

Gail, glad to hear that you have beautiful weather. We've had quite a bit of beautiful weather today as well! Good luck to EB today and enjoy watching your game!

Merry, congrats on the win!! And glad to hear you are getting through your projects :)

There I think I caught up from most of yesterday. I am off to hit the shower soon and get some stuff done while I have the energy to :) I didn't realize how much of my weekend I spent watching movies

Evening All... :)

Thanks for all your congratulations on my post count... perhaps I can get another hundred this week, or perhaps that would leave everyone a little Gaspode'd Out LOL!!!

Today was a kinda mixed day. We went for Sunday dinner at my parents house which was very nice but then I went with my parents to visit my Grandma :( I haven't been to visit her for a while, she has recently had to go in a home, she has Alzheimers. She was asleep the whole time we were there so I dont' know if she would even have recognised me but it is amazing how much weight she has lost since I saw her. She looks tiny :( Such a terrible disease.

The rest of the day has been spent watching the extended edition of LOTR I but we have only got half way through and are saving the rest for tomorrow now. I'm going to do a little guitar practice after this catch up as I have another lesson tomorrow :)

Elaine you are right, where is John? And even Alan is MIA quite a bit....

LOL Lars! Hot glueing patches on sounds like something I would come up with :)

SB - Hope you enjoy(ed) the Irish festival that really sounds like a lot of fun!

Finally I want to say that my name-twin is really showing me up as lazy LOL!!! Merry - congrats and well done I know I'm proud of how much you got done yesterday!!!

Cya,
Gaspode

I finished the bag and the shorts. The kids were happy with them. I have to admit I'm not the best seamstress either. I really prefer to do handwork. Probably wouldn't have earned an A if this had been in home ec, but I got it done. :p

Got the first coat of paint on the cabinet. Going to try to do another coat later today. It used to be a horrible shade of green and now it's white. It'll look much better in my blue and white bedroom.

Now that the family is home I have a huge mound of stinky, camping laundry. Sigh. I may make them do it themselves.

I've been watching The Divine Secrets of the Ya-ya Sisterhood. It's sadder than I thought it would be. I have the book, but I've never read it.

I agree about POTC. Can't wait until it comes out on DVD. I've seen it 4 times, I think. Once because Amy took the family to the movies with her pet-sitting money. ;)

I have 2 crockpots, too. Actually 3, if you count the little bitty one for dips. I love my newest one. It is the largest one and can go in the dishwasher. It saves the day when I have to taxi kids around. I try to schedule fixing something in it once or twice a week, when I know my day will be crazy.

Everybody ready for tomorrow's riddle? We are starting up again tomorrow, aren't we?

Have a great Sunday everyone. I'll check back later.

Just popping in to say Hello! Have been very very busy today scrapbooking!

I've also been busy looking online for wedding photographers.
I'm excited, cause 3 have e-mailed me back saying that that have 5/29/04 available!

Now I think it's time for a nap. Sundays are great for that!

Melissa, Congrats on 500!!

SB, Just curious, where was the wedding reception? And how was the food?

congrats on 500 Melissa:)

Hi all

Bulletproof Monk out on Tuesday :) Something till POTC hits:)

DH made it home safe and sound....off to bed for me ;)

See you all on the riddle.

Have a great night!

Hi All!
Busy day here for the Marcin...yada yada yada family:p
We went to the mall to get Dylan some new pants because he's managed to outgrow all of his since school got out.
We stopped off at the cell phone store & DH & I both got new phones & we got one for Meg & Matthew to share. They are getting to the age now that they are doing things away from us & I want to be able to reach them & for them to be able to reach me.
Then we went to the furniture store & bought new living room furniture!!! Yippee!!!! We chose a camel color suede material couch & love seat & an oak coffee table!! 7 year guarantee against any staining or damage. DH asked the guy "What if it breaks while my 7 y/o is using it as a trampoline?" LOL! The guy sadi no problem!! It will be delivered on Wednesday....pictures will be posted then if anyone is interested.
Phew.......I'm pooped out from all the shopping!but really excited about my new furniture!!!!!

Evening All!

Got back from the Irish Festival around 8. Ate lots and lots! They were out of potato pancakes:( , so I had pierogies, funnel cake, and an apple dumpling! Yummy! My DD fell asleep right before our favorite band took the stage. Went with the in-laws and everyone had a great time.

Lars - did you use a Disney Visa for all the purchases? probably could have gotten a free trip after all that spending!:) Enjoy your furniture.

Sandi - the reception was in Bridgeville at a firehall. The room was supposedly just remodeled and it looked very nice. The food was actually better than my brother-in-laws who had his a couple months ago at the University Club in Oakland! That food was horrid and I know they spent a LOT of money on those meals. My brother-in-laws photographer was very good and it's neat how they make DVD's now; and the proofs were on the internet to look at and to order.

Gaspode - I don't think we could ever get GASPODE'D out!

MP - even the thought of the riddle starting makes me shudder!

E - still have not found time to watch my DVD of LOTR TT.

Melissa, so sorry to hear about your grandmother. I have a great aunt who deals with another kind of dimentia (sp?) and it is so hard to visit :( I just hope you enjoy the rest of LOTR! Which one are you watching (first or second). I just watched them both this weekend.

Holy smokes, Merry!!! You've been one busy lady!!!! And I am not sure if I am ready for the riddle or not... I always get in on it so late in the morning compared to you all since I start work at 7 am.

Steph, glad your DH made it home safely. Sleep well :)

Okay first Merry and now Lars... you all put me to shame!!!!

Lorraine, it sounds like you had a great time at the Irish Festival!!

And with that I am going to bed. Good night all :)

Well, I don't want to put anyone to shame, so maybe I'll just sit around the rest of the week! :o Just kidding. I usually have to talk myself into doing projects, but I've really been checking things off the list lately. Don't slow me down 'cause I'm on a roll!

I'm usually pretty late getting on the riddle, too. You guys back east put me to shame when it comes to rising early. I may get there earlier this fall, since I'm getting up earlier with David. But I bet my brain won't be functioning any earlier.

The Irish festival sounds fun. I like going to festivals. I think we are going to our local watermelon festival next summer. We've been talking about doing that for years, but just don't get around to it.

Lars, I'm so jealous. I need a new couch in the worst way. I might think of recovering ours, but it's breaking down and if you take the cushions off you can see there are some springs sticking through. I want to replace it with a leather one. We have a navy leather recliner that everyone in the family loves. Maybe this winter we can think about it.

We got on a family plan this summer with our cells. I wanted David to have one when he drives and Allen said Amy could have one too. They think they've died and gone to heaven. The agreement at our house is that if we go over our alloted minutes, the person who talked the most has to pay the additional charges. It's making them be frugal with their time. ;) And they can always call me for free on my phone and I can call them.

Melissa, my grandpa had Alzheimers. It is a terrible thing. It robbed him of his ability to communicate at first. He was like he was in prison. The words just didn't come out right. Later, he didn't know who anyone was and his personality changed. It was the saddest thing my family ever went through. I keep hoping they'll find a cure. It's very sad.

My family watched both LOTR movies in the past few days. In fact, Amy asked if they could start them over again. She'd never heard the stories before. I think the books are on her must read list now. She loved them. I'm glad to see her expressing interest in something besides Harry Potter and POTC. ;) She literally wore out one of our hardback Harry Potter books this summer.

I'm heading for bed. Monday is going to be a busy day. I sold about $40 worth of stuff on ebay and I need to box and get it ready to ship. Not a bad take for my first week back. I hadn't sold for several months. I sort of like taking time off in the summer when the kids are home. See you guys tomorrow.

hitting the video store Tuesday for Bulletproof Monk,Two Towers(again),Chicago and Velvet Goldmine

Good Morning Everyone!!
I'm up kinda early but I couldn't fall back to sleep.......I tried unsuccessfully for a while & then gave up.
Steph-I'll need your advice soon......I'm going to need to cover the 'cornices' in my living room now too cause the new furniture isn't gonna match the old fabric.
Merry-How old is Amy? My kids have worn the covers off of the HP books here too.
Gaspode-We could never ever be Gaspoded out!!! Can't have too much of a good thing! Well, with the possible exception of tequila, but that's another story:p ;) :p
SB-It sounds like the festival was fun! I LOVE funnel cakes!!!
Sandi-Did you get a lot of scrapping done yesterday? I have dabbled a bit in that myself & I really enjoy it. Meg & I do it together. For her birthday in April she got one from our local store that has the cover done in the high school colors, orange & black, and says 'Bulldogs'....so she can scrap book her pics all through HS.
CS-I hope that you're able to find all the movies you're looking for.

Morning Angels.
Looking forward to the riddle.....maybe that will bring the men out of hiding!!!

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning!!!

Please don't stop your projects Melissa, and Steph too....I'm starting to think I might be able to tackle some myself.

Congrats Laura, it's so exciting getting new furniture!!

Sounds like lots of fun at the festival SB, of course since I'm Irish too I may be a bit biased! ;) We went to a festival at a local Greek church on Friday and that's a family tradition for us.

So, where are those guys anyway???

Almost forgot!!! I also have a funny telemarketing story. On Saturday EB answered the phone and brought it to me with a puzzled expression. She said she couldn't figure out who the caller wanted. I took it and she was right, it was a man but he wasn't speaking English!! I told him I couldn't understand what he was saying and he then said "Isn't this a Filipino household?"

Years ago Lew's name got on a mailing list that kept sending him stuff directed to "Prominent Filipino-Americans" which of course he is not. I told the caller and he apologized but it was pretty funny!

That's funny Gail!:D
We get advertising mail to DH that is written entirely in Polish...............he knows maybe 2 Polish words & they're not nice ones!!!:p LOL

Morning angels! I was sure I would be late for the riddle!
