First thing's first. I'm not dying. I've always loved Disney World though and have always thought to myself (and out loud) Disney would be a comforting place during my final days. I have also thought of asking for my ashes to be sprinkled somewhere at disney...say the Cinderella Castle moat, or it's a small world river (don't know if they'd like that though lol)

I know this is a slightly morbid question but has anyone ever thought of this? Do you know of anyone who has asked to be sprinkled at Disney or someone who wanted to be at Disney when they took their last breath?

Just curious...not trying to depress anyone.:yay:

Although I can understand where you are coming from, Disney does not permit the scattering of human ashes anywhere on property.

And it's not morbid, just very thorough planning ;)

Hi
Ive actually had to think about this alot lately Im pretty sick and in 2 wks im due to have major surgery on my head for the 3rd time, This time though its a bit more risky!
even though I have booked a holiday to Disney for september i booked because we wanted to surprise the boys after i recover from my Op,they have been so good tha last 2 years I have to sleep alot and be in hospital on and off,We have broken plans etc and the family has been through quite abit.

I also booked as if anything happened to me during the Op i wanted my Dh and mum to still take the boys on the trip as we have been a few times as a family and we have very happy memories there! We was married at the Disney pavillion and they have had Birthdays etc,
Well whilst at my last consultation and pre-op the consultant told me that I was resuscitated twice last Op and had i thought about a will!!
Im only 26 so NOPE i had not thought about a will exactly.......My wish is to be taken to my happy place the place that i had been to every yr as a child with my parents my dad who is now passed,the place i was Married etc, I now know that you cant actually have a memorial at Disney and be scattered exactly.... but its still my wish that they personally have a wake /ceromany at Disney aswell as having my funeral at home (DISNEY THEMED) im greedy like that:rotfl2:I know at home i have choosen a Balloon release as my boys love balloons and it will be something they can do.I know some people say its not right to do that at Disney but each to their own so i think thats a idea we may roll with.

We are still thinking of what else exactly i would have and of course Im hoping and praying I dont actually have to use the plans any time soon!

They do switch out the water for IASW, and the moat on occasion too, so it wouldn't be a 'final resting spot'. A water treatment filter system would add your remains to the sludge (basically human waste products) and you'd be resting in poop for all of eternity.

Its against health codes to sprinkle human remains at Disney World (or most places actually). If someone is caught the remains are disposed of and in the case of IASM the ride stopped and drained and the person sprinkling could face arrest and a fine.

2nd..It has happened too...at PoC .Op isn't the first to think about this and won't be the last, but Disney doesn't allow it and chances are if it was attempted, the ashes would be cleaned out and discarded

:hug: Actually, I think a small family balloon release at Disney World would be fine and a touching memorial, more appropriate and kid friendly than scattering ashes. Maybe at the EPCOT entrance where the memory walls are?

I also cope with death by trying to get away from it all when the funerals are done, but in the past three years I've lost over four people and there's been nowhere to go while our business is in the slumps. I anticipate another, possibly the hardest for the next decade, death coming up soon, too.

I know of a family who did take a vial of their loved one's ashes to one of the parks for release - and that's all I'm saying:rolleyes1

You may want to check Florida law. They have laws agains some balloon releases.

I always tell my kids to cremate me and spread a small vial of my ashes at Disney so they can visit me later in life as an "excuse" for going on vacation. You know, letting their employers know that they're going to visit their mother's grave :lmao:.

I love that brilliant!!

My DH and I want to be spread on the grounds of our favorite hotels. Maybe go out for a walk at 2am when it's quiet and no one sees us! :)

Um, if you're dead, who will do the spread?

You may want to check Florida law. They have laws against some balloon releases.

Please see below, referenced from balloonhq.com[/url]

(1) The Legislature finds that the release into the atmosphere of large numbers of balloons inflated with lighter-than-air gases poses a danger and nuisance to the environment, particularly to wildlife and marine animals.

(2) It is unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to intentionally release, organize the release, or intentionally cause to be released within a 24-hour period 10 or more balloons inflated with a gas that is lighter than air except for:

(a) Balloons released by a person on behalf of a governmental agency or pursuant to a governmental contract for scientific or meteorological
purposes;

(b) Hot air balloons that are recovered after launching;

(c) Balloons released indoors; or

(d) Balloons that are either biodegradable or photodegradable, as
determined by rule of the Marine Fisheries Commission, and which are closed by a hand-tied knot in the stem of the balloon without string, ribbon, or other attachments. In the event that any balloons are released pursuant to the exemption established in this paragraph, the party responsible for the release shall make available to any law enforcement officer evidence of the biodegradability or photodegradability of said balloons in the form of a certificate executed by the manufacturer. Failure to provide said evidence shall be prima facie evidence of a violation of this act.

So basically you can release 9 helium inflated biodegradable or photodegradable balloons into the atmosphere without permission from any local authority.
So if you wish to release more balloons all you would need to do is ask for permission from the local governing body and Disney World, so that the FAA can be notified so that alternative flight paths can be utilised.

Rather than identify a problem, come up with a soultion to that problem and present that instead x

:lmao::rotfl2:
I know the law. I am the one who pointed out there was a law.

:woohoo:

Anyone can state that there is a law, to understand and be able to quote a law will allow others to know where they stand.

My boss always says, dont come to me with a problem, but a viable solution.
