Post #7 - When Can I Get in the Park with a DAH Ticket?

The 'official' park entry time per Disney is 7:00 pm, regardless of the actual start time of the Disney After Hours event.

NOTE: In practice, Disney has generally been sticking to the published 7:00 pm entry time for DHS DAH events to date, although on occasion DISers have reported being let in earlier.

Post #8 - Miscellaneous Event Info & FAQs

Event Handout

Where are Snack Carts Located?

H
ere's a report from @LoganBrown1990:
We visited 4 stations: a kiosk between Fantasmic and ToT, two permanent popcorn stands (one near Brown Derby and one over toward the ABC Commissary/Frozen area), and one kiosk near Star Tours. I know for a fact the two popcorn stands gave us fountain sodas and fresh popped popcorn. The stand near ToT was boxes of prepopped popcorn and bottled soda. I think the kiosk near Star Tours was bottled soda, but I only got an ice cream bar. Hope this helps!

PhotoPass Photographers
PhotoPass photographers were not out during early DHS DAH events, but according to late Jan/Feb 2019 reports, there have been PhotoPass photographers out on Hollywood Boulevard at least during some portions of the event.

Update from the 3/9/19 event, there was one PhotoPass photographer out on Hollywood Boulevard towards the end of the evening.

Post #10 - DISer Event Review Posts

Hard-ticket events such as Disney Afters Hours are expensive and many of us come to the DIS to decide if these types of things are "worth it." In my opinion, there is no better resource than the collective thoughts, opinions, and experiences of DISers who have attended DAH.

Links to in-thread review/experience posts are below. Good, bad, or ugly - all event reviews and experiences are helpful.

I should probably clarify that table (thanks for pointing that out)... you CAN get AP/DVC discount tickets in advance. When you're logged in (and assuming you have an AP) it'll show you the option to click for the AP/DVC price. It's only if you were to try to buy a ticket online the day-of an event where the AP/DVC discount option is no longer available.

I’m hoping Disney will add a few dates in later January. I’d prefer DAH over EMM, but it isn’t offered at all during our dates (1/26 - 1/31). This sounds amazing and I’m looking forward to our MK DAH event :)

Wow. Thank you so much for starting this new thread. It must be a full time job! I appreciate it!

Before taxes, it looks like this HS event is only $32 for the three of us with the DVC/AP discount vs. our EMM in HS, could that be correct? This event would be a little more money but more hours with more attractions. We don't need the ABC breakfast.

Thank you.

Not sure I follow your math (I probably read too quickly), but DAH w/ an AP/DVC discount is $95 plus tax, compared to EMM which is $79 plus tax ($69 plus tax ages 3-9).

Thanks for the nice note!

Already changed all my FP+ around as well as dining for 12/22. Now please don't be sold out when I call :rolleyes1

Thank you. So, about $48 more total for the three of us, correct? So for another $50 or so, we can get two extra hours and more attractions. Ill have to think about this and see if it better fits our plans.

Thank you again.

Ok, I have read this several times. Not sure which of us is confused here.

With the DVC discount, the ticket will still be $100 a person once you include tax. So, for three people to purchase tickets, it would cost $300. That would be in addition to any other tickets that you have. If you want to spend all day and night at HS, you would need to but a normal ticket, plus another $95 + tax for the Disney After Hours event.

If you already have an annual pass, then this event would cost you another $95 + tax.

Not sure where the $32 or $48 figure is coming from...

Not a positive, nor a negative, just an observation. Once again, Disney has done the impossible. They have literally added days to the calendar. Well, ok, perhaps not literally, but you see where I am going.

Each park is open 365 days in a year. That is effectively 365 chances that they have to charge admission. Of course, that is at each park.

How can you collect more money, but use the same infrastructure? Simple split the day into two or possibly three days. An early morning window, a normal window, and then the afterhours window.

In 2018, Disney had 34 separate evenings for MNSSHP. They also had 22 MVMCP. By my rough count, they also had at least 14 Disney After Hours in the Magic Kingdom for 2018. So realize the numbers, The Magic Kingdom was essentially open 435 days in 2018.

Now Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom will also have more evenings, stretching their calendar to being open 368 days out of the 365 days in 2018. And each park may have had a couple of previous hard ticket events earlier in the year that I am not even counting.

More importantly, they have already announced 13 and 14 events at HS and MK already for next year thru April. What is great (from a company point of view), is they are charging admission for these events that is actually in fact more than the normal one day admission, but utilizing the same existing infrastructure.

Adding the 8 days already announced for the MK, and assuming similar events for the rest of 2019, and you can start to see, they will well over 100 hard ticket events next year. Over the course of the next year or two, I can easily see where there is at least one had ticket event somewhere each night. In effect, they do not need to build a fifth park if they can just do 365 hard ticket events at the existing parks each year.

And those hard ticket events are not cheap. Unlike the longer multiday tickets where it only costs another $20 to add a day, you are paying full price for these events. While there are some discounts for DVC and AP holders, the discount does not bring the ticket price anywhere near the $20 level. And for AP holders like me, the price I paid will get me into any park at any time, except these events.

Again, from an investor point of view, a great way for the company to make money, and for us stockholders to see some returns. From a customer point of view, for some customers this may be a really good value. For others, they may not care for the added expense of attending these hard ticket events. Or they may choose to attend these events, but cut their spending elsewhere (shorten a trip, eat off-site, bring food in, not do a tour or show, etc.)

I think we can all see where this is heading.
