I wonder if anyone can help? We have booked to stay on I Drive in December and as a surprise I am thinking of staying the last three nights in a Disney hotel. Has anyone done this and, if so is it cheaper to wait until you get there to change or to change via the travel agent. I have already tried the agent and to stay in Animal Kingdom would cost £114.0 per night! :rotfl2: plus the admin fee of £50.00. Including the difference from the original hotel about £300.00 for 3 nights. Any suggestions? :confused3

Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of the most expensive, you could try a moderate.
Depending on when you go in Dec you might want to book in advance as it may be busy.
For a 50.00 admin fee, I'm willing to book for you (it's really easy via Internet or phone so I would do it yourselves.
Don't know about the cancellation fee, but I should think for 300.00 you can also get a Disney hotel (moderate).

I am hoping to do the same this Aug. For me the Uk site is cheaper than the US one. But that price is about right, book it direct by internet or phone and save the £50

Animal Kingdom Lodge often comes out as the cheapest Deluxe resort, so if you find it's a bit too expensive then take a look at the Moderates.

Personally, I would definitely not wait until I got there, but then I like to have things all set-in-stone and planned out in advance.

Try Dreams Unlimited for a quote and see if they beat the TA's price. Not sure when you're travelling but it is possible to get excellent rates for AKL.

I echo Frances' suggestions - do try Dream Unlimited for a quote, and just don't "use" the last 3 nights at your I Drive hotel. That way you will avoid admin or cancellation fees.

Having stayed at AKL, £114 per room per night is a price I would happily pay, but I suspect you will be able to do better than that if you book direct with Disney.com or through an American TA.

If your stay is early in December it will be far cheaper than just before Xmas as the prices shoot up then.

We stayed at I drive last year and were extremely pleased for the one night we had at Saratoga Springs and the two nights at Hard Rock Cafe.

Have a great time and just feel that magic.
