Disney ABC Swap Progress Thread

I got a post card from the USPS yesterday...

"Thank you for contacting the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. The information you provided has been entered into our National Fraud Complaint System. If we need more information, you will be contacted directly."

It also lists a different website for mail fraud or mail theft:

www.usps.com/postalinspectors

Just an FYI...

Some of the girls on the Cricut boards got scammed from someone else too, Anna was her name. They called the Post Master in her town and he is investigating. I think someone called the FBI too because Mail Fraud is a federal offense.

Did anyone send checks for postage? Were they cashed?

It has been so long, I don't remember what I sent, but definitely not a check.

Mine was cash $$, because it costs you all too much to cash a cheque from the UK even if I write it in $$ :confused3

can you write a check in US dollars? I never could figure out how we would do that if we moved to the UK. Do the checks look like ours with pounds and pence instead of dollars and cents??
I have some british money but I never sat down to figure out the differences.

Yes, its exactly the same. With old money it was really complicated, as there were 20 shillings in a pound and 12 pennies in a shilling, and a crown was 5 shillings and half a crown 12s 6d, we had a thruppeny bit which was cute and chunky, and a sixpence (as in the nursery rhyme) which was also called a tanner....you can see why we went decimal in 1971:lmao: I was only little, so I don't reaslly remember old money and had to work it out to read older books like Agatha Christie:rotfl:

Short answer, for $ read £ and for c read p, or vice versa. Just to help you out, our shops even charge about the same price in £ as you pay in $ ;)

It has been so long that I do forget if I sent stamps or cash. I'm pretty sure it was cash. It would be interesting to see if it was just the cash ones that never got returned.

Mine was cash and it was returned minus the z but she was mailing another swap in and didn't include postage for it- so I still have her swap items at my house in a pile but I have no where to send them. I don't have a good address so I can't mail them and I don't think I would get my postage back if I did mail them so here they sit until someone claims them.

wow that is confusing!
I really need to get over there. Hopefully next fall. DH wants to do some European Mini tour, Denmark I think. So I told him I have to hit Ireland, Scotland, and England before we go to do his thing. Poor kids will miss about 2-3 weeks at the beginning of school.

I got one of those postcards too. I wonder if anything will come of it.

I don't suppose they'll mind too much :rolleyes1 Travel is very educational, so they'll just be learning off syllabus. Whenever we have a really interesting holiday (like when we went to Canada) I make them a trip workbook - I found a really good site intended for home schoolers and printed out pages which i slid into ne of those books you get for presentations. I also did puzzle and colouring pages. Once you know where you're going you may even find related pages you can print out intended for school parties (I found some great ones for the BC Museum in Victoria) . Then they can show them at school and share their learning. :thumbsup2 They can even bring back "funny money" :lmao:

Once you've fixed something let me know if you want me to start sendng swap postage in £ instead of $

Well, they will see that it wasn't just 1 incident, so that's good...

I never thought about calling the Post Master in the town. That is an excellent idea. More direct :thumbsup2
