DISmoms Gone WILD!!!!! A trip to WDW without the KIDS!!!!!

OK, I'm back! Just had a great stay at AKL - kind of a preview of my DMGW trip in two weeks. Well, except I was the only mom in my group. And it wasn't very wild. And we weren't at Kidani, just the main lodge. OK, so it wasn't much of a preview but I was at Disney, does that count??? ;)

I will be getting in whenever I get finished cleaning up breakfast, making the beds, finishing 72 loads of laundry, and painting the house on that Saturday. OK, again, maybe not all that. But I will leave the minute that Jeff and Ally turn their backs and I can escape!

I'm going to try to plan to arrive around the time that Cammie is expected in on ME. I only have a 2 1/2 hr drive, so tentatively planning on leaving around 10 I think. Hopefully I can work my magic at ASMU and get us upgraded to the Poly or BW! Yeah, I not only get room upgrades, but in March my family was upgraded from ASMO to CSR. Yes, you read that right. And this weekend I booked standard view at AKL and were upgraded to Savannah view. I think it's because we do so many weekend trips, and the overbook the less expensive rooms. Since we are only 2 or 3 nights, they would rather upgrade us than someone who is staying for a week, when they can actually get full price for those days. Did that make sense?

Or maybe I really AM the Upgrade Queen!!!

Anyway, once Cammie gets in we will head to DTD to meet up with Ellen and Lonnie. We may start with a beer flight at Raglan Road while waiting for them to finish their massages. Sound good Cammie? Or our mom guilt will force us to WoD to shop for the kids back home!

Ok, so I'll chime in with my game plan so far...................

My flight arrives in Orlando by 2:30 on Saturday, the 16th. I'll be hopping on ME and heading over to the All-Star Music resort to meet up with Kara, who will hopefully already be checked in with a smile on her face and a drink in each hand! (hint, hint Kara!;))

We'll drop our stuff off into the room, freshen up and head on over to DTD to meet up with E and L. Hopefully we'll arrive in time to get tatoos together; if not, I WILL be dragging Kara to get one after a few drinks! As Ellen mentioned, our first stop will probably be Fulton's where they serve a delicious PopRocks Martini!

DSC02615.jpg

The pop rocks are added to the glass first; then the martini is poured into the glass, causing poprocks to fly out everywhere! Last time I went though, they were out of PopRocks so we will be bringing our own, just in case!

After some cocktails, E and L are planning on leaving us to grab a quiet dinner and get to bed early so then can get a good night's sleep and be refreshed for their safari breakfast the next day. Kara and I, on the other hand, DO NOT need to wake up at the crack of dawn the next day, so we will party into the wee hours of the night at DTD! Or until at least 11pm! (yea, for us moms, that's late!) Kara and I don't have dinner ADRs for that night and now that I think of it, Kara - maybe we should make one so we at least have something. I wouldn't mind Raglan Road. Or Fulton's. Or Portobella's. Let's discuss.

On Sunday, we will check out of ASMusic; drive our luggage over to AKL and I'm thinking we will head to Epcot for the day. We have a MANMOUTH DIS meet schedulled for 3pm so we will probably just spend the first part of the day at Epcot. Ellen and Lonnie will meet up with us probably after lunchtime, right Ellen? As for the rest of the day, I'll wait for Ellen to chime in.

Less than TWO WEEKS now girlies!:cool1::banana::woohoo::yay::dance3:

Down to my knees? You have met me, remember?:lmao:

Down to your belly button?;):rotfl:

You ARE the upgrade queen!!:worship: So cool that you have gotten bumped up so many times- I have once or twice (at BC to a waterview from a standard and at BWV from a standard to a BWview) but NOTHING like you!! Your theory DOES make a lot of sense, though. So I'll cross my fingers and toes for your successful upgrade to the Poly on May 16th!!

And, I hope you're not too disaapointed, but we are staying in Jambo, not Kidani in 2 weeks- the concierge rooms are only in Jambo. But we will be hanging at the Kidani pool and checking it all out, so we'll be there somewhat. K?

Kara - make sure you're wearing a low-cut shirt on check-in day. I WANT AN UPGRADE!

And yes, mom guilt will be forcing me to shop at WoD at some point during the night. Methinks I will spend ALOT less if we go BEFORE drinking though!

We even checked out the animals at night on the savannah with night vision goggles! I felt so McGyverish! If only I had some chewing gum and a paper clip I could have fashioned a zip line to fly over the savannah myself, all the while giving the resort my Tarzan yell!

Ellen - I'm totally cool with Jambo! Girlfriend, I'm cool with anyplace in Disney! And us couch crashers can't be too picky, huh? ;) All I saw of Kidani was the outside anyway, and quite frankly, it was VERY plain, as opposed to the main lodge.....

I just hope WDW can survive the DMGW :rotfl2:

Sooooo...we had a busy weekend as usual around here with lots of baseball games, some rained out, though, and some in the rain. Anyway, on Saturday, which was my DH's bday, after all the baseball, he took Tyler & Timmy over to a local sports store, The Sports Place, where they had a NY Yankee signing autographs. My boys LOVE the Yankees... anyway, they both brought their gloves to be signed by Brett Gardner, who is the starting Center Fielder-

That was pretty cool! :thumbsup2 On Sunday night, I made Pods' favorite meal which he requests every year- Roast cow a$$ with string beans, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce.

Ok...back to the WDW plans!!! :woohoo:

Sunday morning Lonnie and I will be up at the crack to check out of our value room and back in to concierge, all in time to be ready to go on the Sunrise safari at 6:45. I am hopeful that the online check-in I'm going to do from home will help expedite this process. The safari includes a breakfast buffet at Pizzafari. We'll hang out in AK for a bit, I really want Lonnie to see the Lion King, she didn't see it last time we were there. Or, play it by ear and do whatever. We may even head back to AKV for some pool time and take it easy before going over to Epcot at some point in the afternoon. Or we may just go full throttle and go to Epcot right away! Depends on how energetic we're feeling. That's the beauty of going without the family- you get to do what YOU want, without having to worry about the kids.:thumbsup2

At 3pm.....DRUMROLL PLEASE..... we'll be in France for the MAMMOTH MAY MEET!:cheer2::yay::cheer2::yay: Can't wait to meet all those DISsers and have a Gran Marinier slushie! And/or citron slushie!! My first!!:woohoo: The AKV concierge was nice enough to arrange for us to have a photopass photographer at the meet for 1/2 an hour to take lots of pics- so glad about that, this way we won't have to hunt one down and waste precious MEET time! They have told me they can supply a link to the photos that everyone in our group can access and put on their photopass account. :thumbsup2There are going to be sooooooo many Dispeeps there that day- I can't wait to meet them!! After the slushie meet, we may be going over to R&C for a pint with some of them, we'll have to see how it works out. We may start feeling exhausted at this point, so we might have to go back to the room for a nap....because we have some plans for Sunday night, of course...We'll all eat some hors d ouvres in the concierge lounge (I hear it's pretty good in there!), have a glass of wine or two, and then the DISmoms will be heading out for a monorail pub crawl!!!:dance3: Including a side trip to WL for the much anticipated Gran Marinier flight at AP!:woohoo: It's EMH that night at MK, so we can party til the bars close and catch the bus back from MK at the end. A good, safe (relatively speaking) plan for 4 DISmoms gone WILD!!!:thumbsup2

Only on a good day!;)

Ellen - I'm totally cool with Jambo! Girlfriend, I'm cool with anyplace in Disney! And us couch crashers can't be too picky, huh? ;) All I saw of Kidani was the outside anyway, and quite frankly, it was VERY plain, as opposed to the main lodge.....

Yea- the outside DOES look really plain, alot of people have been complaining about that. But the inside and theming of it looks gorgeous from the pics I've been obsessing over for the past week. Lots of artwork, proverbs on the walls, beautiful light fixtures...it looks really special, I am very excited about it.:cheer2:

And my celebrity could kick your celebrity's butt! Know how I know? Cause to meet her, you have to SHRINK to 5" - and we all know how men feel about shrinkage, right? And beside, Tinkerbell is REAL and your baseball player will retire and die someday. Not Tink! I win!

Ok...back to the WDW plans!!! :woohoo:

Sunday morning Lonnie and I will be up at the crack The only acceptable crack is Disney does NOT include A) anything peddled in back alleys; B) anthing a plumber might display while examining your pipes; C) anything before the sun comes up. Just sayin.... ;) to check out of our value room and back in to concierge, all in time to be ready to go on the Sunrise safari at 6:45. Cammie, make sure your cell phone is turned off so they don't call and interrupt our beauty sleep. Lord knows I need all I can get! I am hopeful that the online check-in I'm going to do from home will help expedite this process. The safari includes a breakfast buffet at Pizzafari. I was scoping out places for the mono crawl this weekend. And if I have a drink in every one of them, well, let's just say that I'll still be on the monorail the next morning - just pick me up on the way to wherever.....

Kara, YOU ARE THE UPGRADE QUEEN!! :worship: We all bow before you!

I'm sure Kara will not disappoint you upon your arrival! :drinking1

Oh, and when did it become the MANMOUTH meet? :rotfl2: (Freudian slip? or are you suggesting that I have a big mouth?)

And don't forget.....DRINKS AT R & C TO FOLLOW! :drinking1

Down to your belly button?;):rotfl:

I'm not touching that one. (Oh c'mon! Get your mind out of the gutter!)

Kara - make sure you're wearing a low-cut shirt on check-in day. I WANT AN UPGRADE!

And yes, mom guilt will be forcing me to shop at WoD at some point during the night. Methinks I will spend ALOT less if we go BEFORE drinking though!

Hahaha....good plan, Cammie. Shop BEFORE drinking!

FYI - I loved AKL! We treated this trip much different from other trips to WDW - we decided to spend more time at the resort this time. We never stayed at the parks longer than about 4pm each day, and we could have spent an entire day at the resort just exploring all the different viewing areas, etc.

We even checked out the animals at night on the savannah with night vision goggles! I felt so McGyverish! If only I had some chewing gum and a paper clip I could have fashioned a zip line to fly over the savannah myself, all the while giving the resort my Tarzan yell!

Kara, if you mix in a few cocktails you wouldn't even need the zip line! :rolleyes1

Yay for DISmeet!!

Yay for photopass photographer!

SUPER-YAY for R&C afterwards!

Oh, and when did it become the MANMOUTH meet? :rotfl2: (Freudian slip? or are you suggesting that I have a big mouth?)

And don't forget.....DRINKS AT R & C TO FOLLOW! :drinking1

Oh lord! Just noticed that. Yeah, I'm a college graduate!
(it was early and I had only one cup of coffee in me; I need TWO to function properly!)

And - I'm not forgetting drinks at R & C!:thumbsup2

I ALWAYS like to try something new- it's encouraging when the first review you see is so positive, too!!:goodvibes

Yes, that is EXACTLY what it means!!:dance3:

drea- I just started to plan our 1st trip to DLR!!! We're going to come out in August 2010, and stay at Disney and Hotel del Coronado (if they're still taking DVC points then). I hope we can do a Dismeet when we're there!!:woohoo:

It was a busy weekend, filled with baseball and my DH's bday, PLUS a NY Yankee!!! I'll be back with photos and more plans this morning....

Yeah for DLR! I've always wanted to stay at Hotel del Coronado, too - DH was born near there - but we have family in the area, so we always end up with them. We tend to go down there in August quite often, so be sure to keep me posted - maybe I can meet you, too!
